
Catherine Ratledge Lowry, 82, of Niota, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Sweetwater Hospital, after a lengthy illness. A daughter of the late James and Mary Ratledge Sr.,
she was a former employee of Niota Textile and a homemaker. She was a member of East Niota Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lowry; three sisters, Mae McCosh, Lucille Duckett and Ruth Ratledge; and two brothers, William Catfish and James Ratledge.
Survivors include one son and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Connie Lowry of Niota; two grandsons, Robbie Lowry, and Joey Lowry and spouse, Dusty, all of Niota; four sisters, Elizabeth Moore and Hazel Patterson, both of Niota, Ida Smth of Sweetwater, and Peggy Marie Dennis of Athens; two brothers, D. B. Ratledge of Decatur, and Ralph Ratledge of Niota; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Alexander and the Rev. Delbert Umphrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kyker Funeral Home.
The body will be in state one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
