The photo above is from our book Appalachian Ancestors, ©1983. Aunt Ethel and Aunt Bessie Coleman, now deceased, let us borrow it about 1974 in order to make a copy. The beloved portrait was displayed on Gamaliel "Gay" and Harriet (Stiles) Coleman's wall in their home for many decades. They lived near Valley Road Baptist Church in McMinn County, Tennessee after moving from Cherokee County, NC. Harriet (Stiles) Coleman was a daughter of John L. and May Anne (Sutton) Stiles.
