Fairview Baptist Church Group
McMinn County, Tennessee, ca. 1911

This photo was printed in The Daily Post-Athenian, Athens, TN, in the Wed., March 18, 1981 issue with a header titled "Birthday Year Photo." Mother clipped the photo and gave it to me. My parents identified people in the photo as follows: seated front row, left to right, fourth lady is Mrs. Joe Kelley, last man holding his hat is Uncle John Patterson, standing in the middle, just behind those seated, and wearing a light-colored tie, is John Kelley. The caption read as follows:

Fairview Baptist Church was a thriving little church on the old Niota Road in the early 1900s. Among its faithful attenders and supporters were Julie Melton, Martha Melton, Mrs. Joe Kelley, Lee Ann Nipper, Mr. Patterson, Tom Slack, Horace Melton, John Kelley, John Slack, Joe Kelley, Prissie Slack, Mrs. McBroom, Kelly Russell, Lillie Riggs, and Minnie Sneed.

If you can identify any others pictured above, please let me know in order to complete the listing.

This site is dedicated to the memory of my mother,
Beulah Cline Nipper, a beautiful product of the Knobs.
