IN MEMORY OF OUR DEAR DAD
JAMES JEFFERSON EVANS

Just a few days ago he left us
With a sad memory to bear
Altho we knew he is in heaven
We must prepare to meet him there

Help us oh God, all his children and wife
To meet him in your kingdom
In the sweet by and by
With these war clouds waving over us
We're praying wide daughters and sons
To be with our dad when life's race is won

Dear Daddy how we Miss you
Miss you more than tongues can tell
Though Mother is sick with sorrow
Pray God she will soon be well

Help her dear God we love her
As we travel life's railway from the begin
Dear dad will be in heaven
To welcome his family in
Pray God we will all be up there
To meet him on the happy golden shore
And all be friends with Jesus
For ever and Ever More

His daughter,
Mrs. Wiley Oliver
Hamilton, GA

Note: Discussion with family - Aunt Lurline
wrote the poem. A friend of Aunt Bessie's typed
it and in error typed her name at the bottom.

William, Fred, Jim and Cecil EVANS
William was home on leave.  He went to Germany in October of 1944
and was killed in action November 12, 1944.  This was the last
time the brothers were together.  Jeff and Dora had 5 boys.
Jeffie died at age 1 1/2.  All of pictures above were
taken at what is know as Barnes Mill and Duke Road.  The property
originally belonged to Dora's grandfather Welcome Parks DUKE.
Today it is still in the EVANS family.

EVANS Grandchildren 1980's
Jeff and Dora had 35 grandchildren.  This is only 17 of them.
Three EVANS girls married OLIVERS.  Two of the Oliver's
were brothers and the other one was the brothers cousin.  10 of
these grandchildren were Oliver's - there were 17 OLIVER
grandchildren all together.  I grew up with them and still have
a hard time separating the sisters from the cousins.

Mystery Picture
Believed to be William T. EVANS father of Jeff EVANS This is a photo
of a painting that was in Fred EVANS home.  Since Fred was married
to Dessie Benefield, it is possible the gentleman is her father or
grandfather.
