city in the county of Falkenberg O.S., administrative district Oppeln, on the right bank of Steinau river (affluent of Neisse river), 197 m over sea-level, 1939: 1.895 inhabitants, mainly Catholic, 532 households, in 1335 as a village mentioned, church mentioned, in 1908 rebuilt, unknown when it became town, in the MA often changes of owners, in 17th-18th century castle of Grafen von Pückler, 1842 ev. church was built, in 1866 union of village and Flecken Friedland to the town Friedland, O.S., nearest train-station in Lamsdorf - 7 km, Evangelical elementary school, Catholic elementary school, Gräflich nurserey home, home for the old aged, hospital, district court, market- and arable-citizen (?) town, craftsmen, smaller industries, embroidery and lace industry, after 1945 Polish name: Korfantow (town rights lost), sponsorship of the county Falkenberg: county Peine, Germany.
