7,000 genealogical
books - microfilm - 2,000 microfiche. Turner Collection. Brossman
Collection. 245 Volumes Jones & Gandrud Alabama Records. Largest
genealogical periodical collection in Southern California. Over 2,000
volumes of Los Angeles Historical Society collection. Ross Cornwall,
England collection.
The SCGS is in the
process of collecting obituaries for La Crescenta. The obituaries are
not yet indexed, but this is a project that is on the to-do list.
This collection will include clippings from several papers, including
Daily Breeze-Torrance, LA Daily News, Foothill Leader, Glendale
News-Press, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Los Angeles Times, La Canada
Outlook, La Canada Valley Sun, Long Beach Press-Telegram, Pasadena
Star-News, San Bernardino Sun, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier
News, among others.
The SCGS is also
considering a long-term project to replace the 1890 census, which may
include developing an every-name index of the Los Angeles Times for
that year. Contact the SCGS if you are interested in working on
this project.
