Biography of Louis Marc Emmanuel SOLON (1835-1913), pottery artist, Stoke upon Trent.
About 1873 Solon married Maria, daughter of Leon Arnoux, the art director of Minton's, and they had eight sons and one daughter. The family lived at No. 1, The Villas, Stoke upon Trent, where he died in June 1913.
He and his wife Maria, who died in October 1910, were buried in Hartshill cemetery. As Roman Catholics they were buried in the 1st Class RC area of the cemetery.
His son Leon Victor Solon was art director of Minton's 1900-9.

Je fais des recherches sur le patronyme SOLON dont je descends par deux branches
distinctes. Une du c�t� de mon grand-p�re paternel qui vient d'Orl�ans, � 200 kms
au sud de PARIS et une du c�t� de ma grand m�re paternelle qui vient du nord de la
France, � environ 300 kms de PARIS et dont je recherche la provenance.
J'ai pu lire que des SOLON d'Irlande, du cont� de MAYO �taient partis de ce pays
pour aller dans des pays �trangers. Sauriez vous si il y en a qui auraient quitt�
l'Irlande pour aller en France ou en Belgique ?
Seriez vous d'accord pour correspondre avec moi et �ventuellement d'�cahnger nos
g�n�alogies ?
