O’Neals who fought in the War of 1812

James O’Neal

I believe that this James O’Neal is likely James Mullen O’Neal.   Several researchers have identified James Mullen O’Neal as the husban of Elizabeth Caplinger, and a soldier serving under Colonel Philip Pipkin in the West Tennessee Miliita.

In 1820, this James O’Neal appears near Lebanon, TN in the Wilson County, TN census.   There is also a Wilson County, TN marriage record for James O’Neal to Elizabeth Caplinger for the year 1817 which would appear to be for this James O’Neal.   Additional information about James is available in the notes listed in the rootsweb entry for this

James O’Neal.

By 1840, James O’Neal and his family had moved to Williamson County, IL.
