1532-After Cardinal Wolsey's disgrace became Lord privy seal. As principal advisor to King Henry VIII. Was to revolutionise the Royal administration and firmly establish the Reformation in England.
On Henry's failure to gain support of the papacy for his divorce and reorganisation of the church in England, Cromwell suggested a plan of asserting the nations religious autonomy and the King's supremacy over religious matters.
15th May -Appointed Master of the Jewel House.
1534-Cromwell effected passage of the act of Supremacy.
1539-His idea of creating a Lutheran alliance led to Henry's marriage to Ann of Cleves.
1540-Effected the confiscation of all monastic property by the crown.
Arrested June 10th.
