ALLEN BENTON SPACK
Born New Philadelphia, Dec. 13, 1854. Entered service as brakeman, Dec. 16, 1886. Married. Promoted to freight conductor Deb. 27th, 1887. Age 30, March 18, 1889.

Suspended for one week from Jan. 23 for taking Englewood cars to 51st St. Yard. Severely censured for not making proper stop at Highland switch when he was going to sidetrack his train, causing engine to run through switch on Sept. 10, 1889, and also advised that on a repetition of anything of this sort he would be relieved from further duty.

Bill rendered against him for our end door car BCR&M 5780 for not seeing that door was properly fastened Dec. 9, accident report 579. Suspended two weeks for running by his meeting orders Jan. 19, 1890 on train No. 84. Suspended one round trip from April 13 for carlessness in switching cars at Judson March 18, resulting in cornering cars at east end of siding. Bill made against him July 9, 1890 for hauling car from Griffith to Chicago and return ($5.85) and advised that a repetition of such an offense would not be overlooked by fine or suspension. Ran (by) an important load at Hammond on 2nd 82, June 25th, 1892, giving as excuse the links and pins gone and a d-bar pulled out, reprimanded. Reprimanded for quarreling with night yardmaster Payqman in presence of his passengers on a section of No. 5 at Huntington, Oct. 7th, 1893.

Suspended 7 days from May 3rd for running from Hoovers to Akron against No. 13 on 2nd 86, April 25th, 1894, with but 13 minutes to make the run when the rules required him to have 20 minutes. He failed to clear according to rule and did not get flag out a proper distance. Suspended two round-trips from Dec. 28 for pulling down the main track at Ora against Extra 562 West on No. 37, Dec. 3rd, 1896, when he held an order to take siding for them, engineer Shaw most at fault for this.

Suspended 7 days for burning off journal on ED 13216 near "JO" tower on 31, Dec. 4th, 1896. Car was overloaded, but as Spack weighed it personally at Bolivar, he should have left car right there.

Promoted to regular passenger conductor, August 28, 1903.
