Erie Railroad Biography - A.C. Van Demark

Susquehanna Division Engineer A.C. Van Demark, running engine #2567, appeared on the roster of the Order of the Red Spot on numerous months of 1910 through 1912, awarded to engineers with consistently well-maintained engines.




From the November, 1912 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
Engineer A.C. Van Demark of the Susquehanna Division is confined to his home at Hornell on account of illness. Engineer A.W. Dean is running trains 2 and 5 in place of Mr. Van Demark.




From the December, 1912 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
Engineer A.C. Van Demark, after a few weks absence on account of sickness, has resumed work on trains 2 and 5, Susquehanna Division.




From the July, 1914 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
A.C. VanDemark, Engineer, Susquehanna Division, gets special recognition of having made 30,520 miles in passenger service, without an engine failure.




From the June, 1922 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
From the Elmira, NY Star-Gazette the death of A.C. Vandermark is learned. The notice stated he had been for many years an engineer on the Susquehanna Division and was 67 years of age. He died in the Buffalo General Hospital agter an illness that dated back to last July. For the past ten years he ran the fastest trains on his division, and was a trusted and faithful employee of the Erie.
