Erie Railroad Biography - C. Van Norder


From the November, 1914 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
C. Van Norder, engineer on the Meadville Division (Franklin Branch), was handling engine 977 on Train 215 on a recent date. As he approached a culvert 1 1/4 miles east of Cochranton, Pa., he discovered culvert to be on fire. He brought his train to a stop and extinguished the fire with a bucket of water taken from the engine.
