Erie Railroad Biography - E.H. Hector

From several issues of Erie Railroad Magazine, 1912, 1913 and 1916:
Engineer E.H. Hector was frequently placed on the Order of the Red Spot, a monthly award for the most efficient engineers and firemen on the Erie System. Engineer Hector operated engines 1872, 3056 and 3063 over that time period.

From the June, 1912 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
On the recent occasion of the derailment of cars in Extra 1872 East, near Tuxedo on the New York Division, engineer E.H. Hector took very prompt action in seeing that the fireman stopped train 189, which would have otherwise collided with derailed cars from Extra 1872, which obstructed the westbound track. The work was prompt, and required quick thought. Superintendent Parsons has added a credit mark to the record of Engineer Hector.

From the July, 1938 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
New York Division engineer E.H. Hector of Port Jervis was retired recently on the federal Railroad Retirement statute at age 62 after 42 years, 7 months of service.

From the July, 1942 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
Erastus Henry Hector, 66, retired New York Division engineer, died May 29 (1942) after a long illness. He was a member of the Drew Methodist Church, Masons, Knights Templar, Div. No. 54 B of LE, the Jr. OUAM, and the Erie Veterans Association. Survivors are his widow, and aunt and several cousins.
