Erie Railroad Biography - F. Heck


From the October, 1910 issue of Erie Magazine:
Cincinnati Division Engineer F. Heck was awarded a letter of commendation by the Division Superintendent for tending to the welfare of the service and preventing accidents to trains.




From the November, 1914 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
Engineer Fred Heck was one of 42 active and retired engineers invited to a chicken dinner given at Galion, OH by Cincinnati Division engineer John Cronenwett for those Division engineers who did not move from Galion, OH to Marion, OH when the Division headquarters were moved there beginning in 1912. From the December, 1918 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
FERDINAND HECK� Ferdinand Heck is reported in the Marion, Ohio, Daily Star as having died at Galion of pneumonia, following an attack of Spanish influenza. He was 67 years of age.

Mr. Heck was a retired Erie railroad engineer, and had been ill but one week. He was a Prussian by birth, and an American by adoption. Thirty-two years ago he entered the employ of the Erie as fireman, and later was promoted to engineer. Six years ago he was injured in an accident on the road which compelled his retirement. He was a faithful and loyal employe, and stood high in the community in which he lived. He is survived by his widow, and two sisters; also he was a member of the B. of L. E.
