Erie Railroad Biography - G. Merritt


From the June, 1915 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
G. Merritt, engineer, New York Division, brought his train (520) to Jersey City on time, with engine 810, after transmission bar had broken at Greenwood Lake Junction.




From the November, 1930 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
George W. Merritt, 75, of Riverdale, NJ, for 55 years an engineer on the Greenwood Lake Division of the Erie, has died. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. he leaves five daughters, four sons and several grandchildren.
