GUST NELSON
Born at Warsaw, Ind. May 2, 1862.

Entered service as Brakeman June 16th, 1888. Promoted to Conductor Nov. 23rd, 1888. Formerly with LE&W 6 years, run Baggage Pass. Brakeman 3 years Conductor. Dismissed for rear end collision - rain ran into another train.

Suspended one week July 4th, 1891 for not being on leading car when backing into "Y" at Marshland causing two cars to be derailed. Suspended five days with Engineer Walknetz for taking orders from operator at Akron that were not made in compliance with the rules, 02/19/1890. Suspended 10 days May 20th for allowing engine 52 on his train to run off derail at Griffith April 20th. Entire crew suspended.

Suspended August 22nd for 10 days on account of not being around to take crew out on No. 81 - had to hold train until got an extra conductor. Suspended 7 days April 15th, 1892 for going from Akron to Rochester on short time ahead of No. 5 on No. 85 of March 24th, delaying No. 5. Suspended 7 days from Dec. 9th for failing to fill out to a full train at North Judson, Nov. 25th, 1892.

Reprimanded Dec. 23rd for hauling NYLE&W 21674 from Hammond to Huntington in 2nd 82, Nov. 25th, 1893 on a bill for 21764. Reprimanded for failing to fill out to a full train at North Judson on 2nd 83, Dec. 30th, 1893. Suspended for 7 days for hauling NYLE&W 24421 from Chicago to Huntington on bill for 24451 on 84 Sept. 8th, 1894. In effect Sept. 22, notified same date, Expires Sept. 29, 1894.

Suspended 8 days from Feb. 4th for not setting switch properly at Hammond when backing cut of coal in yard on Extra 316 West January 18th, 1895. Resulted in damage to cars. Suspended 7 days for hauling C&E 4302 & NYLE&W 29564 (81 Freight) into Chicago on No. 85 of Jan. 19th, 1895 when cars were billed offline via North Judson. Suspended 5 days from July 2nd for careless switching at Griffith on No. 81 June 26th, 1895 which resulted in damage to two cars, contents of one viz. Erie 52452 loaded with coffee and same was damaged.

Suspended 10 days from March 10th for leaving Wilders on 3rd 82 with but 22 minutes to make North Judson for No. 9, knowing he had water to get at Kankakee tank, March 1st, 1897.

Suspended 7 days from July 14th for hauling Erie cars 99541 and 28480, loaded with handles, billed to Jackson, MI via Hammond & the MC, into Chicago on Extra 735 West, July 1st, 1897.
