Erie Railroad Biography - Horace Lane

From the March, 1906 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine (Meadville News):
Horace Lane, for many years employed as a yard switching engineer, is laid up at the Spencer hospital as the result of his first serious accident. He was thrown through the cab window of his engine as the result of a collision with an incoming freight engine.




From the February, 1915 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
Meadville Division Engineer H.E. Lane, running engine #1105 with fireman F.E. Carr, was listed as being in the Order of the Red Spot for January, 1915. The Order was an honor bestowed on engine crews who operated efficiently with few engine failures.




From the January, 1918 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
Horace E. Lane, switch engineer in the (Meadville) eastern yards, died recently. Mr. Lane was a member of the "Red Spot" club. He is survived by his widow and two children. One of his sons is now now fighting for our flag.
