Erie Railroad Biography - H.A. McAllister


From the January, 1910 issue of Erie Magazine (Port Jervis News):
Engineer H.A. McAllister was serving as Guide for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Sub-Division No. 732.




From the May, 1914 issue of Erie Magazine:
Engineer Howard McAllister was commended by the Delaware Div. Superintendent for running 41,673 miles in passenger service without an engine failure.




From the February, 1926 issue of Erie Magazine:
Engineer Howard McAllister was commended for running 30,000 miles in passenger service without an engine failure.




From the July, 1931 issue of Erie Magazine:
Howard McAllister, Delaware Division engineer of Port Jervis, was retired and placed on the Special Allowance Payroll at age 67 after 49 years, 5 months of service.




From the December, 1936 issue of Erie Magazine:
Sympathy is extended to Howard McAllister, retired Delaware Division engineer, on the death of his son, Dr. L.H. McAllister. Dr. McAllister was well-known among the Erie employees. Sympathy is also extended to his wife, Mrs. L.H. McAllister and daughter.




From the August, 1950 issue of Erie Magazine:
Howard A. McAllister, 86, of Port Jervis, one of the last surviving members of a well-known family in that region, died June 12 (1950) after a long illness. As a locomotive engineer on the Delaware Division of the Erie, he retired in 1931 after more than 49 years' service.

For more than 61 years Mr. McAllister had been a member of the Excelsior Engine Co. No. 5 and a number of years ago was presented with a gold membership badge.
