Erie Railroad Biography - J.B. Quackenbush

From the June, 1921 issue of the Erie Railroad Magazine:
The death of engineer John B. Quackenbush, who passed away at his home in Closter, NJ, is generally regretted at this terminal (Jersey City). He entered the service as fireman in February, 1884, and was promoted to engineer in October, 1889. On April 5, 1913 he was appointed road foreman of engines at Jersey City, and continued in that position until November 14, 1917. Mr. Quackenbush rendered the Erie faithful service, and in every position he filled showed the spirit of loyalty and devotion to duty.
