Entered service as brakeman Nov. 1st, 1883. Promoted to conductor Nov. 20th, 1883. Promoted to passenger conductor July 15, 1886. Married.

Suspended 5 days (1889) for taking up trip pass without being properly signed as required by the rules. Bill made against him for starting train and breaking air hose at Marion Oct. 2nd, 1889. Suspended 10 days April 30th for giving his engineer signal on train 1 April 16th and pulling out of Huntington station leaving some of his passengers and brakeman and mail agent in lunchroom. Carelessness.

Suspended 30 days March 15th, 1891 for running by Crown Point with train No. 3 March 8th, nine minutes ahead of time, engineer M. Mast. Suspended 15 days May 14th, 1891 for failing to stop No. 3 running by North Judson, a regular stop on new schedule for that train. New card in effect May 10th, 1891, offense May 11th, 1891. Engineer M. Mast.

Suspended 7 days from Oct. 21st, 1893 for honoring a pass that had expired. Suspended one round trip from 03/28/1895 for honoring trip pass #12057 which had not been countersigned.
