Erie Railroad Biography - M.S. Hendee

M.S. Hendee served on the Reception Committee of the 6th Annual Ball of the H.G. Brooks Lodge, No. 169, covering locomotive firemen on the Erie. The ball was reported to be a success, due to "strenuous and indefatigable efforts" of the Reception Committee members.

Engineer M. Hendee was operating engine 2055 on an Allegany Division freight train on October 10, 1911 when his Conductor was knocked down and dragged in Hornell Yard by a freight car, which resulted in only minor injuries.

From the January, 1915 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
M.S. Hendee, engineer, Allegany Division, successfully operated an engine for a total of 20,500 miles without a failure.
