Entered service as brakeman, March 10, 1884. Promoted to freight conductor, March 22, 1884. Married, age 36, March 12, 1889.

Suspended 5 days from May 31st, 1889 for running ahead of No. 56 from State Line to Hammond without orders, May 29th, 1889, thusly delaying No. 56 by 6 minutes. Suspended 5 days from May 6th for running ahead of No. 56 State Line to Hammond without orders, thusly delaying No. 56 5 minutes.

Discharged for running by meeting order at Boone Grove with engineer John Wonderly May 1st, 1890, Train 13; readmitted again into the service June 15, 1890. Suspended Sept 25th for ten days for failure to properly report accident to his train (No. 5) at 81st St. Violated the Bulletin notice to report by Form 126. promoted to a regular run on passenger August 3, 1893. Promoted to regular through passenger runs June 20, 1895.

Discharged August 28, 1903 account improper returns to auditor.
