Thomas Madden, Engineer

From the December, 1937 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine:
Thomas David Madden, 66, veteran engineer of 50 years continuous service, died July 25 (1937) in hospital at Buffalo. He was born at Watts Flats, NY and began his service as section hand in 1887 under his father, the late Jeremiah Madden. In 1890 he became a fireman on the Meadville Division and six years later was promoted to engineer, in which capacity he remained until his death.

Mr. Madden was a member of the B of LE, Knights of Columbus, and St. Patrick's Church at Salamanca, NY. He is survived by three brothers, Jeremiah V. Madden, Erie operator at Watts Flats; John S. and James F. Madden; two sisters, Miss Mary Madden of Salamanca and Mrs. John Hayes of Jamestown, and several nieces and nephews.
