From the August, 1908 issue of Erie Railroad Magazine (Buffalo News):
Thomas J. Hannon, for many years one of the best-known and most popular Erie engineers in this vicinity, died at home in Buffalo on July 18 (1908) after an illness that has lasted since January last, when he was forced to retire from the service. He was a native of Friendsville, PA, from which place he came to Buffalo as a lad and at once entered the Erie service. He was 58 years of age.
