1101. Mary Ann "Polly" (Kuhns) Fisher from The Leader-Vindicator July 25, 1945

Mrs. Charles G. Fisher -  Mrs. Mary Ann Fisher, widow of Charles G. Fisher, died Saturday afternoon, July 14, 1945, at her home, RD 4, New Bethlehem. Death followed a long illness. She was 79 years, six months and twenty one days old.

Mrs. Fisher is survived by two sons and a daughter, J. P. Fisher of Pepin, Wis., Frank Fisher, at home, and Mrs. Della Snyder of Mt. Tabor. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two brothers; David and James Kuntz, both of New Bethlehem.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Lutheran church of Eddyville with the Reverend Michael Goldner, officiating. Burial was made in the Eddyville cemetery.

1102. Myrtle F. (Mumford)  Buzard from The Punxsutawney Spirit April 1966

BROOKVILLE -- Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o`clock in the Galbreath Funeral Home for Mrs. Myrtle Mumford Buzard, formerly of Hiram Street, Brookville, who died Thursday in the Jamestown General Hospital, Jamestown, N.Y. Rev. Harold Knappenberger will officiate at the services with burial in the Brookville Cemetery.

Mrs. Buzard was born in Brookville, August 11, 1874, a daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth McManigle Mumford. She married Bert Buzard who died in 1951. She was a member of the Methodist Church and had lived in Brookville all her life until two years ago when she went to live in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Swanson, of Frewburg, N.Y.

Surviving are, a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Swanson, of Frewburg, N. Y.; two sons, Joseph Buzard, of Sewickley, and Wayne Buzard, of Massilon, Ohio; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Mumford, Lem Mumford, both of Brookville, and a sister, Mrs. Bess Mohney, of Oil City. Friends may call after 2:00 o`clock Saturday afternoon.

1103. Mertie Ella (Eiselman) Boring – Unknown Newspaper

Corry - Pa - Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Evangelical United Church in DuBois for Mrs. Mertie E. Boring, a former long time resident of DuBois. Rev. George L. Pardoe will officiate. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Bracken Funeral Home here. Prayer services will be conducted at 8 tonight in the Bracken Funeral Home by Rev. Ivan Hunsberger.

Mrs. Boring, who has resided in the Corry area since the death of her husband, Harley G. Boring, May 1, 1960, died late Sunday afternoon in the Corry Memorial Hospital after and extended illness. She was 91.

She was born June 20, 1875 in Keating, Clearfield County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eiselman. She married Harley G. Boring Dec 24, 1896 in Johnsonburg.

She had been making her home in the Corry area with her daughters. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren, Church in DuBois.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fay Bergman, Corry; and Mrs. Evelyn Reed, Bear Lake; two sons, Ronald L., Verona, and Orrie G., Worthville; a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Geer, Lock Haven; 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

1104. Evelynn R. (Rotruck) Dillin from the Ames Tribune 12/17/2010

Evelynn R. Dillin, 96, longtime Story County resident, died March 19th at Garner, IA.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 18 at 2 pm. at United Presbyterian Church, McCallsburg, IA. Born Aug. 12, 1908 at Danville, IL. to Edyth and Ira Rotruck, she was raised by her mother and step-father, Charles (Papa) Wright. She had three brothers: Henry, Stacy and Charles Wright; and two sisters, Dorothea and Mary Wright.

She married James Ralph Dillin in 1931 and moved from Indiana to Nevada where they lived for 28 years, then retiring to their farm near McCallsburg for 18 years. While in Nevada, they owned and operated a hardware store. After J.R.'s death she moved to Longview, WA. and then to Hot Springs, AR. But, she missed her beloved Iowa and had made her home at Concord Care Center in Garner in recent years. An accomplished organist and pianist, she played for both Nevada and McCallsburg Presbyterian churches, and also gave piano lessons. During World War II, she worked at the Ankeny Defense Plant and the Ration Board in Nevada. She worked a variety of jobs at the Nevada Evening Journal for 18 years and volunteered at the Garland County Library, Hot Springs, for several years. She was a Royal Neighbor and Soroptimist. She loved traveling, music, reading, sewing, crosswords, TV quiz shows and the Lawrence Welk Show. She was bi-lingual and gave Spanish lessons while living in Washington.

She was predeceased by her husband, J.R.; son, James Otho (Jim) Dillin and a host of other relatives. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and David Stuelke, Hot Springs AR; grandsons: Stacy and Kate Wood, Salt Lake City, Utah; Dr. Scott B. and Kris Wood, Garner; Rev. Dwight and Beth Dillin, Gainesville, GA.; grand daughters, Faith Wood, Iowa City; Danielle Dillin Free, Gainesville, GA; daughter-in-law, Donna Dillin, Kelso, WA.; sister-in-law, Kate Wright, Covington, IN.; sister, Dorothea Russo, IN.; step daughter, Martha Upchurch, OK.; step grandchildren Mrs. Ron (Sandy) Otto, Nevada, and Steve Stahlman, GA.; Bill, Bob and Jim Rice and spouses, all of WA.; Mrs. Gary (Linda) Bucholtz, Idaho; many great and great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Cremation was by Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner.

Margie June Stahlman, 73, was born July 20, 1938 in Valliant, OK, the daughter of John Walter and Flora Lorine (Mitchell) Moser.  She passed away January 26, 2012 at her home in Yukon. Margie was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #38 in Watonga.

She is survived by her husband, J D Stahlman of the home; daughter, Debra Kreger of Winston-Salem, NC,  son, Garry Jay Stahlman and wife Betsy of Richardson, TX, daughter, Melonie Zincke and husband Mike of Claremore, OK, and daughter, LuAnn O’Hair and husband Nelse of Laverne, OK; brother, Odell Moser of Arlington, TX; sisters, Verdia Bray of Security, CO, Vida Winters of Granbury, TX, Vada Volcy of Miami, FL, Margaret Gray of Valliant, OK, Jeannie Scott of Purdy, MO; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Yanda & Son Chapel.  Interment will follow at Niles Cemetery near Hinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mable C. Margie June Moser was born July 20, 1938, to Flora Lorine Mitchell and John Walter Moser in Valliant, OK.  After a lengthy illness, she died at home in Yukon on January 26, 2012. As the eldest daughter of 9 children, Margie helped raise her younger brothers and sisters. At the age of 16, Margie met JD Stahlman, and they were married on October 1, 1955. This 56 year marriage of love and devotion produced 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

Margie was a homemaker and raised her children until she began working at Plaza Dry Cleaners in Bartlesville in 1978. Margie also sold Avon and babysat. She worked at DiMaggio's Dry Cleaners in Edmond and Gene's Dry Cleaners in Yukon.

She was a member of the Watonga Chapter 83 of the Order of the Eastern Stars. An avid, lifelong reader, she was active in promoting the public libraries wherever she lived. She volunteered as a Certified Children's Vision Screener for Prevent Blindness Oklahoma. She was an avid bowler and scorer for the bowling tournaments. Margie was a supporter of school activities who volunteered to drive Head Start students on field trips. She was a member of the Ponca City Booster Club. Before her illness, Margie had donated an estimated 15 gallons of blood. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, attending Bluegrass festivals, traveling to historic places, flea markets, and yard sales. She would go anywhere, anytime to watch her children or grandchildren participate in an activity. You name it, she was there. Be it football, basketball, band concerts, school plays, karate tournaments or track meets, Margie was there, cheering them on. She would drag JD four hours in the pouring rain to eat a cold hamburger to watch a game of tiddlywinks or hopscotch if one of her grandchildren was involved.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flora Moser and two brothers Jack and Joe Moser.

She is survived by husband, JD Stahlman, of the home, children Debra Kreger of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Garry Stahlman and wife Betsy of Richardson, Texas; Melonie Zincke and husband Mike of Claremore, Oklahoma; foster daughter Brenda Jacoby of Allen, Texas; and LuAnn O'Hair and husband Nelse of Laverne, Oklahoma, grandchildren David Kreger and wife Amanda, John Kreger, Steele (Little Boy) Waldrop, Renee Stahlman, JoAnna Stahlman, Jacque Stahlman, Biljana Stankovic, Kristin Stahlman, Amber Zincke, Kacie O'Hair, Noah O'Hair and Melody Seebeck, great-granddaughter Kaitlynn Kreger;  brother Odell Moser; sisters Verdia Bray, Vada Volcy, Vida Winters, Margaret Gray, and Jeannie Scott, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a mulitude of friends. A fabulous wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margie will be remembered as a smart, funny, kind woman who was always good for a hug.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Yanda & Son Chapel.  Interment will follow at Niles Cemetery near Hinton. from:

Joe Wesley Moser was born December 10, 1940 in Valliant, OK the son of John Walter Moser and Flora Lorine (Mitchell) Moser and had lived in the Valliant area since 2002. Joe is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jack Melvin Moser. Survivors include one brother, Odell Francis Moser of Arlington, TX; six sisters: Margie June Stahlman of Yukon, OK, Verdia Mae Bray of Colorado Springs, CO, Vada Lorine Volcy of Miami, FL, Vida Winters, of Granbury Texas, Margaret Gray of Valliant, OK and Wanda Jean Scott of Purdy, MO; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends. Died: August 10, 2011.

1107. Flora Lorine (Mitchell) Moser from Tributes.com

Flora Lorine Moser was born June 9, 1919 the daughter of Odie G. Mitchell and Hattie (Gilbert) Mitchell. She departed this life on March 30, 2011 at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 21 days. Flora liked to read, loved to plant flowers especially roses, quilting, and making baby quilts for all of her grandchildren. She also loved life and enjoyed visiting with old friends. Flora lived in the Ft. Worth, TX area from 1960-1996 and had lived in the Valliant/Rufe area for the past 15 years. She attended the Assembly of God Church and was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Maggie Mitchell and husband, John Walter Moser. Flora was also preceded in death by one son, Jack Melvin Moser, three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include: two sons: Odell Francis Moser of Arlington, TX and Joe Wesley Moser of Valliant, OK; six daughters: Margie June Stahlman of Yukon, OK, Verdia Mae Bray of Colorado Springs, CO, Vada Lorine Volcy of Miami, FL, Vida Winters of Granbury, TX, Margaret Gray of Valliant, OK and Wanda Jean Scott of Purdy, MO; brothers: Danny Ray Mitchell of Antlers, OK, Benny Mitchell of Antlers, OK and Raymond Mitchell of Texas; twenty three grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other family and friends.

WELLSVILLE, NY — Charlotte K. Stahlman of 3235 Riverside Drive, departed for heaven on Saturday (March 30, 2013). She will be with the love of her life, Robert, who predeceased her on Feb. 7, 2011. Charlotte had been a resident at the Wellsville Manor since March 30, 2012. Charlotte was born on May 25, 1932, in Schwalback, Germany, and was the eldest daughter of Adolf and Bertha Schlosser Seel. After graduation, she trained and became a beautician. She married her husband, Robert, during his tour of duty with the US Air Force in Germany. After moving to Wellsville and becoming settled in Wellsville, Charlotte became interested in antiques. In 1972, she opened "The Parlor Shop" and continued to own and operate it until 2002.

Surviving Charlotte are a son, R. Scott (Gayla) Stahlman of Seneca Falls; a daughter, Elka S. Peet of Wellsville; a grandson, Marcus J. Peet of Corning; a granddaughter, Nicole P. (Shiraz) Khan of Newtown, Pa.; a sister, Elfriede Roehler of Germany; a brother-in-law, Leland D. (Margaret) Stahlman of Port Allegany, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband and parents and an infant brother and a son-in-law, John F. Peet.

At her request there will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville.

1109. Clara Virginia (Stahlman) Browning from the Cumberland (Maryland) News Oct 7, 1968

HYNDMAN - Mrs. Clara Virginia Browning 50, died in Bedford County Memorial Hospital Friday. Born July 17, 1918 at Petersburg, WV, she was the daughter of William Stahlman & the late Lulu (Iman) Stahlman. Her husband, Roy Browning, preceded her in death. She was a member of Hyndman Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving in addition to her father, are one daughter, Mrs. Naomi Deneen of Hyndman; 3 sons, Wayne Browning of Cincinnati, OH, Kendall Browning of Mt. Morris, MI & Roger Browning of Flint, MI; 2 brothers, Dorsey Stahlman of Lisbon, NH & Paul Stahlman of Fisher, PA; 2 sisters, Mrs Norma Schmidt of Philidelphia & Mrs Eileen Schad of Hyndman; 3 grandchildren.

The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home where services will be conducted with Rev.Harry Cumberland, pastor of the Nazarene Church, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Berlin.

1110. Clarence Stahlman from The Courtland Journal, Courtland, Kansas, June 14, 2007

Clarence Stahlman passed away June 10, 2007. He was born April 3, 1921 in Courtland, Kansas to Harry Lee and Lena Davis Stahlman as the first child to the marriage. He was born on a farm 1 mile west, 2 miles north and 3/4 mile west on the south side of the road at David Stahlman's house. Dr. McComas was the doctor at the home. He lived on this farm until he was about 1 1/2 years old when his parents moved to Hoxie, Kansas where he was baptized in the Presbyterian Church.

He lived in Hoxie, Kansas and attended school until the 5th grade. His parents moved back to Courtland, Kansas and he finished the school year at John Brown School close to the farm. His parents moved into Courtland. He finished the remainder of his school years there graduating from Courtland High School in 1940. After graduation he worked in his father's garage until joining the Air Force January 6, 1941. He spent time at Langley Field Virginia and Dow Field in Bangor, Maine. He was sent to Cadet Program in Garden City, Kansas, Chickasha, Oklahoma and Laredo, Texas. He was discharged from the Air Force October 30, 1945. He entered the Air Force to gain knowledge as an airplane mechanic.

He was married to Nettie Weiss on October 5, 1943 in New Jersey. Nettie followed him to stations while he was in the Air Force. One daughter, Terry Frances was born October 16 at Newark, New Jersey in 1949.

After discharge from the Air Force in 1945, he returned to Courtland for six weeks to renew his life and friends. Returned to New Jersey and lived there until summer of 1946. At this time, he moved back to Manhattan, Kansas to enroll at Kansas State University to receive a B.S. in Agriculture in 1949. He received his Masters in Secondary Education at Hofstra University, Long Island, New York in 1954.

After graduating he returned to New Jersey to work for Eskimo Pie. After a short time with Eskimo Pie he was offered a job as a professor at the University of New York in Farmingdale, Long Island where he taught chemistry, nutrition and sanitation. He retired in 1983 and moved to Winter Have, Florida. Here he enjoyed fishing, photography, traveling in their motor home and visiting his daughter, Terry and her family in Washington, D.C.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie, a daughter, Terry and husband Neal Slater in Manassas, Virginia. He has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruth Johnson and husband, Paul in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lena Stahlman, brothers Clyde and Harry Lee Stahlman, sisters, Bernice Tate and Clara Mae Thompson.

1111. Lena (Davis) Stahlman from Find A Grave

Lena Stahlman was born at Glen Elder to Marion and Sara Davis, September 5, 1897, and died March 9, 1989, at Belleville.

At age five she moved with her parents to Hoxie, where she attended grade and high school. She worked as a telephone operator in Hoxie and Selden, Kan. She married Harry Stahlman in 1920. In 1930 they moved to Courtland. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Bernice, one son, Harry Lee, four brothers, one sister, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence, and Clyde; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Clara Mae) Thompson and Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Johnson one sister, Velma Cooper; one brother, Lewis Davis; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Courtland cemetery.

1112. Martha Elizabeth (Smathers) Stahlman From The New Bethlehem Vindicator, 1926

Mrs. Preston A. Stahlman - As we go to press word reaches us of the death of Mrs. Preston A. Stahlman at her home near Clarion, Pa., Tuesday of this week. Her husband who is a son of John J. Stahlman of Limestone township, is also seriously ill. Mrs. Stahlman’s death was caused by the "flu" and Mr. Stahlman is ill from the same disease, his condition Tuesday being very serious. A child of Mr. and Mrs. Stahlman had been ill with "flu" and Mrs. Stahlman contracted the malady while caring for it.

Timothy Michael Stahlman, Sr., 53, of 80 Halyday Run Road, Oil City, died Wednesday April 24, 2013 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born August 29, 1959 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Donald and Imojane Salsgiver Stahlman. He attended Oil City High School and earned a 2 year college degree from Dubois College in Oil City. Mr. Stahlman was a care giver for the Easter Seals. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance. He enjoyed playing the lottery and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are 5 daughters, Lisa Stahlman of Oil City, Cathy and Crystal Stahlman of Franklin, Erica Stahlman of Venus and Brandy Stahlman of New York State; 2 sons Timothy Stahlman, Jr. of Oil City and Timothy Geisel of New York State and 16 grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Judy Rice of Seneca, Holly Groger of Franklin and June Daily of Seneca, 5 brothers, Troy Stahlman of Seneca, Kris Stahlman of Rockland, Joe Stahlman of Oil City, Rick Stahlman of Seneca and Brent Stahlman of Seneca.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deb Weingard and a brother Butch Stahlman.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery. The family requests donations be made to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.

1114. William Delmar Avery from the Erie Times-News November 6, 2011

William Delmar "Bill" Avery, age 82, of Greene Twp., passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 5, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was born November 8, 1928 in Helen Furnace, Pa., the eldest son born to Harold and Mae Ion Avery. Bill had resided in the Erie area for over 45 years. He was employed by the General Electric Co. for 27 years prior to his retirement. In years past be had also been employed to move and build standard rigs for gas drilling. Bill was a member of the former West Greene Presbyterian Church and had also attended Wesley United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing and watching sports of all kinds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Stanley Avery; a sister-in-law, Barbara Love; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Avery.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn Y. Gulnac Avery; two sons, William "Bill" Avery of New Jersey and Daniel "Dan" Avery (wife Susan) of Virginia; two sisters, Marilyn "Polly" Hellmintoller (husband Bill) of Florida and Nola Aaron (husband Art) of Clarion; four grandchildren, Nicole, George, Rachael and Kayla Avery; a brother-in-law, James Gulnac (wife Marilyn) of Erie; a sister-in-law, Elsie Terwilleger (husband Vern) of Ohio; a dear niece, Shelley Love (husband Rick Peck) of Wesleyville; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 4:15 p.m. conducted by Rev. Harry Johns III. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Bangs, and sisters, Turah Bangs and Gladys E. Sheets. She was survived by her husband, The Rev. Lawrence "Pete" Rowe; daughters, Cindi Rowe and Karen Beichner (Ron); son, Lawrence "Kip" Rowe (Sue); brothers, George Bangs, Richard Bangs (Millie) and John Bangs (Bev); sisters, Rose Rollison, Anabel Zahner (Ray), Betty King, Patricia Stiffler (Jack) and Marjorie Jackson (John); grandchildren, Michelle Jewell (Kevin), Michael Beichner, Marisa Newman, Veronica Beichner, Miranda Rowe, Kyle Vogel and Arianne Vogel; seven great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. Her funeral was held on May 21, 2011, with The Rev. Eugene Richardson officiating.

1116. George M Bangs - Meadville 04/10/2012

George M. Bangs, 84, of 2017 Meadville Road Titusville, passed away Tuesday, April 10th, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center. George was born in Spartansburg on October 21, 1927, a son of the late Ralph and Elda (Boyle) Bangs. He married Lila Arlene Vogt; she survives.

For over 25 years George was employed as an insurance agent with Columbia Accident & Health Insurance Co.  Additionally he was an agricultural farmer for numerous years.  A 1945 graduate of North East High School, George entered the US Marine Corps on August 14, 1945 and served his country until his honorable discharge on August 23, 1946.  George's life passion was gardening.  He loved to watch his fruits and vegetable grow.  His hard work and great pride showed in his abundant harvest, especially his blueberries, apples and vegetables.  Occasionally George would write beautiful poetry.  He enjoyed singing especially the country music of years gone by. 

George is survived by four children Ralph Bangs and his wife Marian Kennedy of Pittsburgh, Stephen Bangs and his wife Rachael Christie of Cincinnati, OH, Pam Wig and her husband Bill of Spartansburg, Georgina McClellan and her husband Ben of Pittsburgh, nine grandchildren Chris and Emma Bangs, Stephen and Elizabeth Bangs, Josh and Ryan Wig, Taylor, Ryley, and Sean McClellan, four great grandchildren, five sisters Anabel Zahner and her husband Ray of Titusville, Rose Rollison of Paramus, NJ, Betty King of Wills Point, TX, Pat Stiffler and her husband Jack of Florence, AZ, Marjorie Jackson and her husband John of Dallas, TX, two brothers Dick Bangs and his wife Millie of  Oil City, John Bangs and his wife Beverly of Titusville, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother Arthur Bangs, three sisters Gladys Sheets, Mary Rowe and infant Turah Bangs.

Gladys E. Sheets, 84, formerly of Mansfield and Allamuchy, died on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at MerryHeart Assisted Living in Succasunna.

Gladys was born in Spartansburg, Pa on August 2, 1926. Gladys and Bob Sheets were married for 55 years until his passing in 2005. They had traveled extensively after retirement touring Micronesia, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Europe, and most of the 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. She graduated from North East High School North East, PA in 1945 and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949. She later earned a Master of Education degree, M. Ed., from Rutgers University.

Mrs. Sheets was an elementary school teacher in New Jersey for 33 years, having retired from the Mansfield Elementary School in 1989. She previously taught in the Stanhope, Byram and Allamuchy School Districts. Gladys was an avid gardener her entire life. She always had several gardens and was awarded numerous blue ribbons for county and state fair entries each year. She was involved with the 4-H Club program, leading several garden clubs. She was a Supervisor for the Warren County Soil Conservation District for 25 years. She focused on the education end of the districts program, judging essay contests, as well as developing educational materials for youth. She was a member of the Tranquility Methodist Church, at which she and her husband Robert were married in 1949.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Caryl Eissing of Mansfield, and Marjorie and her husband Ricardo Armenta of Henryville, PA; her grandson, Christopher Eissing and his wife Leslie of Lambertville, NJ; three granddaughters, Melissa Little of Atascosa, TX, Xochilt Armenta of Sacramento, CA and Sasha Armenta of Henryville, PA; three brothers, George Bangs, Richard Bangs and his wife Millie, and John Bangs and his wife Bev, all of Titusville, PA; six sisters, Rose Rollison of Paramus, NJ, Mary Rowe and her husband Lawrence of Wilson, NC, Anabel Zahner and her husband Ray of Titusville, PA, Betty King of Wills Point, TX, Patricia Stiffler and her husband Jack of Florence, AZ, and Marjorie Jackson and her husband John of Richardson, TX; and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Gladys was also predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Elda Boyle Bangs, by a daughter, Daryl Little, by a brother, Arthur Bangs, by a sister, Turah Bangs, and by a nephew, Dwayne King. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Arthur A. Bangs, 66, of Asheboro, N.C., died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, in Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C., after a brief illness. Born Feb. 2, 1936, near Spartansburg, he was a son of the late Ralph E. and Elda I. Bangs.

He was an Army veteran. He previously lived at RD 2, Spartansburg, and in Vienna, N.J., where he worked at Hoffman-Laroche Chemical. After retiring, he moved to Asheboro, N.C.

Survivors include: his present wife, Mary; six children, Judson Bangs, Robert Bangs and Sheryle Place, all of South Carolina, and Teresea Wyker, Iona Rinebold and Wendy Panelli, all of the New Jersey area; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Bangs of Spartansburg and Richard Bangs and John Bangs, both of Titusville; and seven sisters, Rose Rollison and Gladys Sheets, both of New Jersey, Betty King and Margie Jackson, both of Texas, Patricia Stiffler of Arizona, Anabel Zahner of Titusville and Mary Rowe of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Betty Connell and Katherine Faraday.

Friends will be received Tuesday at a funeral home in New Jersey. A funeral will be conducted Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. Lawrence Rowe. Interment will be in Tranquility Cemetery, Tranquility, N.J.

New Bethlehem – Mrs. Alba R. Bowersox, 81, of RD 3 New Bethlehem died Tuesday in the Brookville Hospital following a short illness. Born Dec. 16, 1893 in Curllsville, she was the daughter of Ross and Margaret Morris Cox. She married Henry C. Bowersox of Curllsville Feb. 24, 1915, who preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1973.

Mrs. Bowersox was a member of the Oakwood Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department. She was also active in community work with the Clarion County Cancer Society, and was a life-long resident of the New Bethlehem area.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas M. Bowersox of New Bethlehem RD 3 and Ralph R. Bowersox of Clarion; two daughters Mrs. Helen Edder, and Mrs. Darl (Pearl) Minich, both of New Bethlehem RD 3, 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today in the Wayne E. McNaughton Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Services will be from the Oakwood Presbyterian Church at 2 pm Thursday, with Rev. T. Mrs. Naomi Floy Bowersox of 607 Washington St., New Bethlehem died at 2 p.m. Tuesday (May 12, 1964) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was aged 66 years, having been born July 3, 1897 in Curllsville, the daughter of J. E. and Jennie (Hartman) Shook.

Mrs. Bowersox was a member of the Leatherwood Presbyterian Church. She was married Sept. 17, 1918 to Blaine Bowersox who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Dean and Merle, both of New Bethlehem; four daughters, Mrs. Laird (Viola) Shumaker of Oil City, Mrs. John (Grace) Milliron of Leechburgh, Mrs. Atney (Ruth) Dickerson of Charleroi and Mrs. James (Lois) Stewart of State College; 13 grandchildren: her father, J. E. Shook of Sligo RD 1; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Howard of North East, Mrs. Sarah Harriger of Sligo RD 1 and Mrs. Blanche Wyant of Coraopolis and six brothers, Ray Shook of Curllsville, Milford Shook of Reidsburg, Dale Shook of Sligo RD 1, Rev. Charles Shook of Mansfield, Ohio, Ernest Shook of Meadville and Kenneth Shook of Sligo RD 1.

1122. James Dean Bowersox

James "Dean" Bowersox, age 93, of New Bethlehem, died Friday evening, December 12, 2008 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, following a brief illness. Born June 28, 1915 in Porter Township, Clarion County, he was a son of the late Blaine and Floy Shook Bowersox.

He married Betty "Jean" Laughlin on August 12, 1948. She survives.

As a young man, Mr. Bowersox worked as a farmer and delivered milk. During World War II he worked at the Glen Martin Company in Baltimore Maryland. He returned to New Bethlehem after the war and built and operated the Bowersox Food Locker Service. He also worked at Rola Manufacturing in Hawthorn then at their facility in Punxsutawney. In later years, he was employed by J.M. Smucker PA, Inc. He received an award for outstanding service as Vice President of the New Bethlehem Area Development Corporation, when he helped bring the Crawford Furniture Manufacturing Company to the area. He was a member of the Oakwood Presbyterian Church.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fixing refrigeration equipment and automotive maintenance and greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son: James E. Bowersox and his wife, Mickey, of Shippenville. A daughter: Jane Mercatoris and her husband, Gerry, of Brookville. Four grandchildren: Julie Hagen and her husband, Dan; Jenny Sturgeon and her husband, Casey; C.G. Mercatoris and Elaina Mercatoris. Two great Grandchildren: Ally and Kaden. Two sisters: Viola Shumaker of Oil City and Lois Stuart and her husband, Jim, of State College.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Marilyn Jean Snyder Truitt on June 10, 2007, a grandson: Alan Snyder on September 14, 2006, one brother: Merle Bowersox and two sisters: Ruth Dickerson and Grace Milliron.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Born April 9, 1925, in Clarion County, she lived in Allegheny Township for several years before moving to New Kensington. Mrs. Milliren was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Brackenridge. She enjoyed participating in church activities, sewing and knitting.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cindy (Joseph) Dinger of Sharpsburg and Mrs. Bonnie (Mark) Griffith of Allegheny Township; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Dean Bowersox of New Bethlehem; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois (James) Stewart of State College and Viola Shumaker of Oil City.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Cory Griffith and Michelle Griffith of Allegheny Township, Eric Dinger of Morgantown, W.Va. and Kurt Dinger of Sharpsburg.

Michael Eugene "Mike" Over, 52, of Porter Township, New Bethlehem, died suddenly of accidental causes early Saturday morning, June 22, 2013, in Perry Township, Armstrong County, while on an electrical outage call for the Central Electric Cooperative of Parker.

Born April 3, 1961, in Clarion, he was the son of Mary Wyant Over, who survives, and the late Walter V. Over. Mr. Over was a 1979 graduate of Redbank Valley School District at New Bethlehem. He married Crystal Brown on June 20, 2004, at Robinson Chapel near Parker. She survives.

Mr. Over was employed more than 20-years with the Central Electric Cooperative (REA) of Parker, where he was presently an electric lineman. Born into a farming family, he enjoyed operating his own farm in Porter Township. A devoted family man, he thoroughly enjoyed traveling with his family, especially making three trips to Disneyland for the girls' enjoyment. He was a member of the Grace Community Church at Curllsville. Mr. Over was a member of Canby Lodge F.&A.M. No. 520 of St. Petersburg, the Valley of Oil City, and the Coudersport Consistory.

In addition to his mother of Porter Township, and his wife, survivors include two daughters, Carly Michelle and Abigail Marie Over, both at home; a step-daughter, Tabitha Saye of Chicora; two sisters, Terri Bowersox and her husband, John, and Shari Carlson and her husband, Jeff, all of Porter Township, New Bethlehem; his mother-in-law, Carol Anthony Brown of Parker; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Reuben Philip Ferringer, Jr., 93, Brookville, a former Brookville water plant worker, died Wednesday in Brookville. Born June 2, 1915, in Fuller, he was the son of the late Reuben P. and Grace Knappenberger Ferringer. He was married to Louise Schuckers Ferringer. She preceded him in death in 1955.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in 202nd Combat Engineers. He participated in five battle campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Germany and earned five Battle Stars. Following VE Day, he served at the 9th Army headquarters in Brunswick, Germany on the rehabilitation of German water systems.

He returned to work as the Brookville Water Plant supervisor in 1945 and was appointed water commissioner June 1, 1952. He remained in that position until he retired in 1982. He also served as Brookville's health officer from 1940-1982. He attended water works operators school and sewage plant operators school at Penn State. He instructed courses in the civil engineering department at Penn State on water purification and treatment from 1953-1955. He was instrumental in the success of fluoridation of Brookville's water supply.

He was a member of the Water Works Association of Pennsylvania and served as president in 1958. In 1954, he received the President's Cup Award for his article titled " European Water Plants." In 1961, he was awarded the IM Glace Award for professional achievement. He wrote numerous articles published in national and state publications.

He was a member of the board of directors of Project Brookville and served as project engineer for the construction of "Fish for Fun" on North Fork. He served on numerous boards and was Brookville's "Man of the Year" in 1962.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge Coudersport Consistory, Community Club, Redlick Hunting and Fishing Club and the Sierra Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly-fishing and camping.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Susan F.) Dooley of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Dan Ferringer of Brookville and Arthur Ferringer of Knox; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two step-great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael Fredrick Ferringer, 56, of Treasure Lake, Dubois, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007. Michael was born in Brookville, Jan. 12, 1951, son of Reuben and the late Louise Schuckers Ferringer. He was a former owner of the Autoport Restaurant and Motel in State College, and had been retired for the past eight years.

Michael, is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Matthew and his wife, Renee, Sterling, Va.; daughter, Jennifer Kissell and her husband, Cody, State College; step-son, Michael Loy and his wife, Jennifer, Harrisburg; stepdaughter, Alison Weiand and her husband, Josh, Harrisburg; stepdaughter, Ashlee McHugh and her husband, Sean, University Heights, Ohio; one grandson, Trey Weiand; his father, Reuben Ferringer, Brookville; and sister, Susan Dooley and her husband, Charles, Orlando, Fla.

Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his wife, family and friends. He was instrumental in the success of the "On the Fly" fly-fishing tournament and chaired the first "On the Field" sporting clays tournament benefiting the Centre County Youth Service Bureau. He helped plan the initial Redbone Tournament, "The Little Juniata Classic." He was a member of the Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club and served on the Board of Directors, Trout Unlimited and served on the Youth Service Bureau Board of Directors, The Quarterback Club of Penn State University where he was past president, The Visitors Convention Bureau.

Mike was very active in raising money to help children and youth in Centre County. Michael graduated from The Pennsylvania State University, 1973, received post graduate credits from Northwestern University and Bucknell University.

Friends will be received on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, from 12 until 3 p.m., from the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, 211 S. Main St., DuBois. Geraldine G. "Gerry" Miller, 86, of Butler passed away at 11:15 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Tonawanda, N.Y., to the late Walter I. Smith and Blanche (Schuckers) Smith.

Mrs. Miller was a 1945 graduate of Har Brack Union High School in Natrona Heights and a 1979 graduate of the School of Nursing at Butler County Community College. She worked as a registered nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital and then at the Columbia Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. for 16 years, retiring in December of 1996. Mrs. Miller was a member of North Street Christian Church. She enjoyed reading and playing cards with her friends at the Arbors. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two daughters, Merry (Larry) Wagner of Butler and Wendy Fleeger of Alaska; five grandchildren, Bill Arrundale of Columbus, Ohio, Veronica Arrundale of Akron, Ohio, Angela Weller-Ouellette of Ashville, N.C., Jeremy Wagner of Butler and Danielle (Trent) Eury of Butler; six great-grandchildren, Cassie Lynn Arrundale of Akron, Ohio, Gabrielle Weller of Ashville, N.C., Brooklyn Erin Eury of Butler, Brody Arrundale of Madison, Ohio, Jackson Arrundale of Akron, Ohio, and Grant Levi Eury of Butler; and one sister, Shirley Lovejoy of Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dana M. Miller, who passed away Dec. 17, 1984; one daughter, Lynette Arrundale, who passed away May 4, 2012; one granddaughter, Kimberly Arrundale, who passed away in February, 2010; and three brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Ellwood Smith.

A funeral service will be held Monday for Bonna "Bonnie" Allen of Sharpsville. She passed away at 2:55 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 69. Mrs. Allen was born Aug. 27, 1942, in Kane, Pa., to Floyd and Mila Leonhart Hannah. She graduated in 1960 from Kane High School.

A homemaker, Mrs. Allen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sharpsville. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, collecting hummingbird figurines and gardening, and especially loved growing flowers, playing Scrabble and traveling.

Her husband, Jack Allen Sr., whom she married April 28, 1962, survives at home. Also surviving are: a daughter, Kimberly Anzevino and her husband Bryon; and a son, Jack Allen Jr., all Sharpsville; a sister, Kathy Volrath and her husband Jim, Fenelton, Pa.; grandchildren, Cameron, Evan and Audra Anzevino, all Sharpsville; and her mother-in-law, Matilda Allen, Hermitage.

Harry (Fuzzy) W. Allen, 75, of Distant, died Friday, November 29, 1991 at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights following a lengthy illness. Born May 19, 1916 in Distant, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Harry and Kitty (Wells) Allen.

He married Helen Hilliard on September 8, 1934. She survives. Mr. Allen was a former truck driver and coal miner. He was a member of the Oakland Church of God at Distant. Mr. Allen was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas as a sergeant. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was an avid sportsman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Miller of Butler and Mrs. Howard (Gale) Bish of Beaver; one brother, Joseph Allen of Distant; two sisters, Juliet McDowell of St. Albans, West Virginia and Esther Beatty of New Bethlehem RD 1; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were four brothers and an infant sister. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday at the Oakland Church of God. The Rev. Howard Bish, Mr. Allen's son-in-law, and the Rev. Clarence Dillon, pastor of Oakland Church of God, co-officiated. The Rev. James Swogger, assistant pastor, was vocalist. Interment followed in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant. Arrangements were by the McNaughton-Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem.

Helen K. Allen, 89, of Avon Park, died August 20, 2005 in Avon Park. A native of Fairmount City, Pa., she came here in 1995, from Distant, Pa. She was a member of Oakland Church of God in Distant, Pa. and WCG, a woman's group at the church.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Miller of Avon Park and Gale Bish of Black Mountain, N.C.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Distant, Pa. Arrangements are being handled by Fountain Funeral Home, Avon Park.

Mrs. Hattie Armagost, 80, a native of Troy township and a resident of Venango for the past thirty years, died yesterday at 2 p.m. at the home of her daughters, Thelma and Iona August, in Youngstown, O. She was born Oct. 1, 1869, a daughter of Arnold and Elizabeth Smith.

Besides her daughters, she leaves a son, Leo Armagost, of Erie; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. L. L. Childs of Townville. Two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Prather and Mrs. Marjorie Waid, preceded her in death.

The body was removed to the Van Matre funeral home in Cambridge Springs. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

1134. Jacob Armagost from the Titusville Herald August 3, 1918

The funeral of J. R. Armagost, well known in eastern Crawford, as well as in the western part of the county, took place at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon from his home in Venango borough, and the large attendance, made up of friends from many regions, was one of the evidences of the esteem in which he he was held.

Mr. Armagost died July 30 from neuralgia of the heart, with which he was attacked first three weeks ago. Ho was born in Troy township, this county, August 21, 1860, and excepting for a part of his boyhood when the family lived near Chapmanville, in Plum township, Venango county, all his early life was passed in Troy township.

On January 8, 1890, he was married at Troy Center to Miss Hattie I. Smith of that place. The first three years of his married life was passed at Kane, where he was engaged in oil field work. He then located at Venango in the mercantile business, which he followed there throughout the rest of his life.

He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Thelma and Iona, at home, and by one son, Leo, who is in the military service, and is at present studying aeronautic photography in the government's course at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. He also is survived by one brother, G. M. Armagost of this city and seven sisters.

Mr. Armagost's church affiliation was with the Baptist church, with which lie united in his youth. Those who know him speak of him in terms of high regard, as one of good habits, both in boyhood and manhood, and whose duties as an individual and a citizen were industriously and conscientiously discharged.

Willis David Bacon, 89, of Sanford Road, Grand Valley, Pa. passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Golden Living Center, Titusville, Pa. He was born May 21, 1920 in Lake Pleasant, Pa. the son of the late Jack and Alice (Newman) Bacon.

He had worked in the construction industry for Hardner and Doyle Construction Company, and was a member of Local 603. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marie (Baney) Bacon in June of 2004.

Survivors include nine daughters, Shirley Stearns and her husband David of Meadville, Pa., Cindy Connor and her husband Robert of Spartansburg, Pa., Sharon Earls of Spartansburg, Pa., Tammy Culvin of Corry, Pa., Gloria Proper of Columbus, Pa., Susan Irwin of Florida, Lori Kemp and her husband Jim of Spartansburg, Pa., Carol Proper and her husband Donald of Titusville, Pa. and Linda Wright and her husband Lester of Landing, New Jersey, three sons, Willis Bacon, Jr. and his wife Betty of Erie, Pa., Kenneth Bacon and his wife Ruth of Erie, Pa. and Harold Bacon of Titusville, Pa., two sisters, Lois Kane of Hornell, New York and Velma Gariepy of Murrysville, Ga. two brothers, Ray Bacon of Hornell, New York and Art Bacon and his wife Marjorie of Union City, Pa., 25 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

David Lee Stark, 57, of Leeper, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his home. Born March 29, 1955 in Clarion; he was the son of Melvin J. and Bula Grace Stahlman Stark of Clarion. He was married on December 29, 2011 to the former Annette Hook, and she survives.

Dave worked at the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant and retired after 37½ years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Dave was a former fireman for the Clarion Fire and Hose Company #1.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two stepchildren, Don Hook Jr. and his wife, Melta, of Marble; and Kelsey Hook and her fiancé, Matt Schill, of Lickingville; and four grandchildren, Brileigh, Raelynn, Colbea, and Kylar Hook of Marble. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard Stark and Dan Stark, both of Clarion; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Earle Lundy, Of Coolspring, Dies At Age 50

Earle Joseph (Pinky) Lundy, a native of this city who was a construction inspector for the State Highways Department, died Sunday morning in the Adrian Hospital of a heart condition. He was 50 years of age.

Mr. Lundy, who entered the hospital three days ago, was a resident of Coolspring. He was born June 1, 1909, in Punxsutawney, a son of John B. Lundy, Sr., and Catherine Quinn Lundy. He was married in 1943 to Jane Reitz.

A member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Walston, he was a veteran of World War II and a member of the local B.P.O. Elks, the Moose and the American Legion. He had resided in Coolspring the past 10 years.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Joseph and James, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Lundy, Sr., of this city, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Thomas Larson, of Indiana, and Miss Loretta Lundy, Thomas and John B. Lundy, Jr., of Punxsutawney.

TOWNVILLE — Ernest J. Hanna, 83, of East Freemont Street, Townville, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Townville, a son of Arch Hanna and Gladys Altenburg Hanna. He married Lucille B. Boyle on Aug. 9, 1947; she survives.

He was a graduate of Townville High School and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran with the Navy Sea Bees in the Pacific Theater, enlisted from June 1945 to July 1946.

He owned and operated Hanna Hardware in Townville all of his adult life and spent the last 30 years wintering in Florida. He was a member of Townville Baptist Church. He was an avid sportsman and was inducted into the Trap Shooting Hall of Fame.

Ernest was involved in many local and national organizations. He was a life member of Black Ash Sportsmen Club, Amateur Trap Shooting Association, life member of the National Rifle Association, past councilman of Townville Borough, Kingsley Cemetery Board, officer with Townville Fire Department, life member of Titusville Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of Townville American Legion and was a forest fire warden for 45 years.

In addition to his wife, Lucille, of 64 years, survivors include two sons, Donald J. Hanna and his wife, Diane, of Townville, and Robert E. Hanna and his wife, Linda, of Townville; three grandchildren, Dustin J. Hanna and his wife, Hilary, Ashlee Zmijewski and her husband, Peter, and Jared Hanna; two sisters, Beatrice Hanna-Royce of Fairfield, Calif., and Lucille Hanna and her husband, Jack, of Suncity Center, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charlotte Lenora Boyle Bossard, 84, of Townville, passed away, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Titusville. She was born June 16, 1928 a daughter of Lawrence Boyle and Charlotte Bement Boyle. She married Jerome Bossard on April 16, 1949. He survives.

She was a member of the Townville Baptist Church for over 60 years and taught Sunday School, served on various boards, and sang in the choir.

Charlotte worked for several different District Justices in Crawford County until her retirement and was also a notary for 24 years. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, spending winters in Florida, but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband Jerome of 63 years, Charlotte is survived by two sons, Brad L. Bossard and his wife Brenda of Titusville and William B. Bossard and his wife LuAnn of Centerville; two granddaughters, Christa Battin and Chelby Robinson and her husband Tim of Townville; two grandsons, Darrell Bossard of Centerville and Michael Bossard of Titusville; six great grandchildren, Logan and Brooke Battin and Trista, Andrew, Ryan, and Ashley Robinson; a twin sister, Lucille Hanna of Townville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl Merton Boyle; a brother in law, Ernst Hanna; and a daughter in law, Connie Bossard.

William H. Radaker, 88, of Clarion RD 2, died unexpectedly at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in his home. Born March 9, 1913, in Fairmount City, he was the son of William A. and Myrtle M. Bish Radaker.

Mr. Radaker retired in 1976 from the United Mine Workers Union where he was a dragline operator and heavy equipment operator for a number of coal companies. He was a member and past president of the United Mine Workers. Mr. Radaker also was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion, and the Knights of St. George.

He was married March 29, 1937, to Helen C. Dougherty, who preceded him in death. Surviving are eight sons, Thomas W. Radaker of Sligo, Daniel L. Radaker of McKeesport, Joseph Radaker of Butler, Ronald Radaker of Sligo, Kenneth Radaker of Goldsboro, N.C., Michael R. Radaker of Rimersburg, Jeffery Radaker of Clarion and Patrick Radaker of Knox; six daughters, Joyce Wolbert of Knox, Janet Greenawalt of Sligo, H. CONNEAUT — Grace I. Huffman, age 89, of Ashtabula, Ohio, died Friday, August 28, 2009, at the Harrington Care Home in Conneaut, Ohio. She was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Fairmont City, Pa., the daughter of William A. and Myrtle E. (Bish) Radaker.

An Ashtabula resident since 1943, she was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. She loved to collect "collectibles", and enjoyed flower gardening, going to garage sales, decorating for the holidays and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Mason of Ashtabula, Ohio; two sons, Dennis (Marsha) Huffman of Conneaut and Jack A. (Patti) Huffman of Ashtabula, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orrie R. Huffman in 1981; her brother, William Radaker; and five sisters, Lottie Miller, Blanche Hartzell, Minnie Radaker, Dorothy Radaker and Florence Radaker.

Lloyd H. Bish, 92, of Brookville, formerly of Sugar Valley, Mayport RR 1, Armstrong County, died at 5:05 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2000, in Jefferson Manor, Brookville. Born March 27, 1908, in Hawthorn, Clarion County, he was a son of William E. and Bertha (Drayer) Bish.

Mr. Bish was a coal miner in his early years and later worked as a salesman for McNess Co. He then worked for PennDOT in Armstrong County until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of the Hawthorn Calvary United Methodist Church. Mr. Bish married the former Margaret Shick on June 9, 1928. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Harry L. and Shirley L. Bish of Brookville and Glenn E. and Patsy Bish of Fredonia; two daughters and their husbands, Ruby and Marion Rearick of Polk, Ohio, and Gladine and Raymond Anthony of Mayport RR 1; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Fenstermaker of Ravenna, Ohio, and Mrs. Ed (Betty) Dougherty of Youngstown, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bish was preceded in death by six brothers, Bruce Bish, Merle Bish, Abe Bish, Blair Bish, Joe Bish and Clyde Bish; and two sisters, Florence Hiles and June Bowersox.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at the Hawthorn Calvary United Methodist church with the Rev. Paul O. Mitchell, pastor, officiating. Clair Irvin 'Johnny' Bish, 88, of South Bethlehem, died at 9 pm Tuesday, July 29, 1997 at Allegheny Manor in Shippenville. Born March 26, 1909 in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Reed Jacob and Elva Leona (Himes) Bish. He married the former Twila Snyder on April 15, 1942. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1989.

Mr. Bish was a retired coal miner. He later worked as a police officer in New Bethlehem. Mr. Bish attended the Springside Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Bish also belonged to Masonic Lodge NO. 522, F&AM of New Bethlehem, and the New Castle Consistory.

He is survived by his sister, Lena McIntire of Philipsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In additon to his wife and parents, Mr. Bish was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Bish and Ivan E Bish.

Funeral services were held at 11 am Friday, August 1, at the Charles D Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The Rev. Kenneth Brougham, pastor of the Springside Baptist Church in New Bethlehem, officiated. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Beautiful Lookout, Armstrong County.

Gladine P. Anthony, 79, of Mayport, died Tuesday June 19, 2012, at Brookville Hospital. Born December 27, 1932, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of Lloyd H. and Margaret G. (Shick) Bish. She married Raymond E. Anthony on March 5, 1952. He survives.

Mrs. Anthony worked at Owens-Illinois in Brookville. She was also a waitress and worked in nursing homes.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Daniel Anthony and his wife, Cathy, of Angola, N.Y., and Randy Anthony and his wife, Ilean, of Brookville; a daughter, Tammy Brooks of Mayport; five grandchildren, Alicia Hetrick, Amanda Buzard, Brandy Young, Chad Over and Greg Over; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Rearick of Ohio; and two brothers, Harry L Bish of Brookville, and Glenn E. Bish and his wife, Patsy, of Mercer. Mrs. Anthony was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Lyle Westover officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.

Joseph A. Care, 89, of Warren, Pa. died Tuesday afternoon, March 5, 2013 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa. He was born March 23, 1923 in Mayburg, Pennsylvania to the late Bruno and Josephine Farone Care. He has resided in Warren for the past 15 years moving from West Hickory, Pennsylvania where he owned and operated West Hickory Beverage for 30 years retiring in 1979. He was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, East Hickory American Legion Post. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He had served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Bert Buzard, 79, well known bricklayer, died in his home Saturday, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o`clock in the Reitz Funeral Home and burial will be in the Brookville Cemetery.

The deceased was born June 18, 1871, in Jefferson County, a son of John and Nancy McGrody Buzard. He was married to Myrtle Mumford Aug. 29, 1892, and was a member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife and two sons and a daughter: Wayne T., of Massilon, 0.; Joseph B., of Sewickley, and Mrs. Sherman Swanson, of Freeburg. Also six grand-children and five great-grand-children.

Mr. Bury was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Schick Bury; his second wife, Helen White Bury; five brothers; and two sisters.

Youngstown – Joseph Bury, 84, of the city's northside, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at his home. Joseph was born May 17, 1927, in Yatesboro, Pa., a son of the late George and Pauline Pasulka Bury, and came to Youngstown in the early 1950s.

He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War, and worked for U.S. Steel, Ohio Works in the accounting department, retiring in 1980 when the mill closed. Joe's first wife, Norma Schick Bury, passed away Sept. 22, 1976. His second wife, Helen White Bury, whom he married Aug. 26, 1980, passed away Sept. 30, 2010.

He leaves his daughter, Paula (Roy) Cleary of Austintown; his son, Paul Bury of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Raymond and Christopher Pagan; five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Tori, Kyle, Tera, and Raymond; two sisters, Helen Curtain of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Pauline (Bob) Perrine of Falls Church, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. Joe will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Shick was born March 13, 1878 in Armstrong County, a son of John M. and Sophie (Reinard) Shick. Mr. Shick was married to Amanda E. (Rearick) Shick, who preceded him in death in 1953. He was a member of Hawthorn Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Lloyd (Margaret) Bish of Mayport RD 1, Mrs. James (Mildred) Shirey of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Stanley (Mary) Carrier of Fairmount City RD 1, Mrs. Charles (Kathryn) Hetrick of Sligo, and Mrs. Glenn (Ruth) Shick of Oak Ridge; three sons, Percy Shick of Portersville, Roy Shick of Evans City RD 1, and Clair Shick of Mayport RD 2.

HAWTHORNE – Charles Foster Shick, 60, died at 7:45 am Sunday in his home after an extended illness. Born July 18, 1889, in Clarion County, he was the son of Jacob and Mary (Bowersox) Shick. He was married October 18, 1915, in Clarion to Elizabeth Bish, who survives.

Mr. Shick was a member of the Methodist Church at Oak Ridge and a member of the United Mine Workers Union 6?62.

Surviving besides his widow are three daughters, Mrs. James (Mary) Reinsel and Mrs. Harold (Helen) Yeaney, both of Erie, and Mrs. Joseph (Norma) Beiry of Youngstown, o. Three children preceded him in death. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Hilliard of Distant; and one brother, Ralph Shick of Hawthorne. The body is in the family home.

She was a member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church and belonged to the Ladies Aide there. Born January 21, 1889 at Limestone, Clarion County, she was the daughter of George and Tillie (Orr) Bish.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. James (Mary) Reinsel and Mrs. Harold (Helen) Yeaney, both of Erie, and Mrs. Joseph (Norma) Bury of Struthers, Ohio; one brother, Ott Bish of Hawathorn; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Miller of Oak Ridge and Mrs. Carrie Young of Strattanville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three children, eight brothers and sisters are deceased.

Maggie Salina Hepler, wife of E. R. Hepler, died at the family home at Hawthorn, Saturday April 16, 1939, following an illness of more than one year.

Mrs. Helpler, the daughter of Christ and Sarah Lankard Shick, was born in Redbank Township, near Hawthorn, October 16, 1878. On November 9, 1899 she was married to E. R. Hepler. To this union were born three daughters and five sons all of whom survive: Mrs. Ott Bish, Oak Ridge; Mrs. E. J. Holben, Pine Run; Mrs. John Kemp Jr., Oak Ridge; Boyd of Reesedale; Homer and Charles of Waltham MA; John of Pittsburgh and Fred at home.

She is also survived by her husband, 23 grandchildren, 2 sisters and 4 brothers: Mrs. D. C. Hoffman, Mrs. Rebecca Shreffler, William, Ralph, Fred and Raymond Shick.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Hawthorn Evangelical Church of which Mrs. Helpler was a member. The services were in charge of the Reverend M. V. Kelley and the Reverend A. F. Thomas. Burial was made in the Hawthorn cemetery under the direction of H. H. Sloan.

Mary Elizabeth Carrier, 85, of Alcola, died Thursday evening, April 4, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare-Clarion. Born Sept. 9, 1917, in Sugar Valley, she was a daughter of Jessie and Amanda Rearick Shick. Mrs. Carrier retired from Sylvania of Brookville. She was a member of the Oakridge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She was married Aug. 26, 1940, in Paradise, to Stanley E. Carrier, who preceded her in death April 20, 1991. Surviving are a son, Roger S. Carrier and his wife, Esther, of New Bethlehem; three sisters, Margaret Bish of Brookville, Mildred Shirey of Tucson, Ariz., and Ruth Shick of Oakridge; a brother, Clair Shick of Salem; two granddaughters, Pamela Sifinski of Pittsburgh and Vicky McGinnis and her husband, Jerry, of Brookville; and four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Zachary Moore of Pittsburgh and Andrea and Rachel McGinnis of Brookville.

BRISTOLVILLE – Jerome F. Greenawalt, 70, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, at home. He was born July 20, 1942, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late Patrick Henry and June Elizabeth Stahlman Greenawalt. He married Patricia J. Bohn on Aug. 18, 1973. He was employed as a mechanic with Warren Harley Davidson for 10 years and prior he worked at Downtown Motors for 24 years, retiring in 2008. Jerome enjoyed working on anything mechanical and was an avid motorcycle rider.

Loving memories will be carried on by his wife, Patricia J. Greenawalt of Bristolville; son, Geoffrey Greenawalt of Bristolville; sister, Patricia E. (Bud) Culp of Cortland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where the Rev. John Russell will officiate. Born May 12, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ray and Catherine (Boddorf) Wolfgang. She married Theodore David "Ted" Shreckengost on April 5, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1996. Mrs. Shreckengost worked for Sylvania in Brookville and then with RCA in Florida.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Brooks and her husband, Steve, of Stroudsburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Dinger and her husband, Walter, of Erie, and Shirley Magagnotti of Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerald W. Bish, 57, died unexpectedly at his Shippenville home on June 17, 2002. He was a former New Bethlehem resident. Born in Fairmount City Sept. 3, 1944, he was a son of Vincent W.C. and Geraldine (Wolfgang) Bish. His mother survives.

Mr. Bish was a graduate of Redbank Valley High School, where he was on the football team and the school wrestling squad. After achieving his bachelor's degree in education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, he taught at Brookville High School a number of years.

He then attended Toledo Law school and passed both the Ohio and Pennsylvania Bar Exams. He returned to the New Bethlehem area and began his law practice with the late Judge Robert Filson. Since the mid-1970s he had been involved with various organizations and projects in New Bethlehem and the surrounding area.

He is survived by his wife, G. Catherine Palo; his mother, of Fairmount City; one brother, Larry Bish, of Fairmount City; one sister, Mrs. Earl "Butch" (Hope) Myers of Fairmount City; and several nieces and nephews. His father preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held in Hawthorn with the Rev. Karen Shay, pastor of Living World International Church, officiating. Interment will be at Alcola Trinity Cemetery.

Geraldine E. Bish, 81, of 222 Town Run Road, Fairmount City, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at 2195 Pump Town Road, Fairmount City. Born April 5, 1925, in Mayport, she was the daughter of Ray and Katherine Boddorf Wolfgang. Mrs. Bish was a member of the Living Church International. She was a housewife and loved to cook and spend time with her family. Mrs. Bish was married April 24, 1942, to Vincent W. Bish, who died in October 1989.

Mr. Boddorf was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion Post 995, Dayton; Cement Mason Local 526. He was a miner for six years and later a cement finisher for 28 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army 1289 Engineers Combat Battalion.

Clifford R. "Pete" Clinger Sr., 78, of Mayport died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in Brookville Hospital, Jefferson County. Born September 27, 1921, in Limestone Township, Clarion County, he was a son of Jacob V. and Nellie (Hamler) Clinger.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Clinger had worked as an engineer at Peoples Natural Gas Co. for 42 years prior to his retirement. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Clinger was married January 29, 1943, to the former Eleanor M. McAninch. She survives.

Also surviving are a son. Clifford R. Clinger Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Clarion: three daughters, Kay Huff of Spotsylvania, Va., Sally Clinger of Clarion and Pamela Aikins and her husband, Larry, of Mayport: seven grandchildren: and nine great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a brother, Victor Clinger of Hereford, Texas; and two ha1f-sisters, Marie and Nina, both of Mercer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clinger was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry "Rip" Huff.

Mrs. Helen Chambers Poister, 87, of 4408 Commanche Trail, Louisville, Ky., died Friday, Feb. 8, 1980, in the Northfields Nursing Home where she had been a resident for more than a year.

Born Jan. 2, 1893, in Ellwood City, daughter of the late Edward and Rachel Stahlman Chambers, she was a College Hill-Beaver Falls resident before moving to Louisville 12 years ago. She was a former member of the College Hill Presbyterian Church; College Hill Woman's Club; Beaver Valley Children's Aid Society and was a current member of the Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church, Louisville. Her husband, Clyde A. Poister, died in April, 1966.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mildred) Campbell, with whom she made her home; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ben Chambers and a sister, Myrna Chambers, both of Ellwood City. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul E. Poister, in 1952.

Friends are being received today after 7 p.m. at Campbell's, 14th Street and Eighth Avenue, Beaver Falls. Amelia P. "Millie" Gula, 94, Sykesville, passed away Thursday morning, May 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born Oct.12, 1918 in Timblin, a daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Chesonis. She was married to Joseph J. Gula Sr. on Nov. 29, 1941. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 2004.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the Holiday Inn of DuBois for many of years. She was an active member of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville,where she was also a member of the Rosary Society of the church. She spent most of her life in Sykesville and is the last survivor of her immediate family.

Millie is survived by her five children: Joseph Gula Jr. of Sykesville, Mrs. Buddy (Mary Ann) Golden of Virginia, Mrs. Terry (Joyce) Stahlman of Sykesville, Janice Gula of Sykesville and Michelene Spellen of DuBois; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Allen; grandson, Gary Allen; two brothers: Dominic and Samuel Chesonis and one sister, Mary Zirneskie.

Irene Stahlman Day. Dick was a 1962 graduate of Oil City high School. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as sergeant.

Dick was employed as a welder at Joy Manufacturing for 38 years, retiring in 2004. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, golf, the Steelers, Penn State and Yankees, and was a member of the Oil City Moose Lodge #78 and the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local #1842. Dick was well known for his trophy moose which he killed in 2002 with his gun “Roy”, with a spread of 59 inches and was featured in the Boone and Crocket Club’s 5th Big Game Awards Book 2001-2003.

Surviving are one sisters, Sally Tenney of Chandler AZ; nephew, Scott Roberts and fiancée Teresa Oddo of Oil City; nieces, Wendy Weeks and husband Perry of Mesa AZ, Michelle M. Tenney of Chandler AZ, and Charity A. Sayers and husband Joe of Franklin; many great nieces and nephews; and his special friend Rose Campbell and grandchildren Kara, Cody and Kyle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia A. Day; brother, William E. Day; sister-in-law, Judy Yount Day; nephew David A. Day; and a brother-in-law, Larry Tenney.

NEWPORT - Juanita L. Dye, 76, of Newport, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday (Aug. 4, 2009). She was born on Jan. 1, 1933, in Parkersburg, the daughter of the late Paul and Irene Brownfield. Juanita graduated from Belpre High School and had been employed as a secretary for the Belpre City School superintendent before becoming a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church and lately attended the Newport Baptist Church.

On Dec. 24, 1955, she married Carl O. Dye. Juanita served in many positions within the Beech Grove church. She was a volunteer at the Newport Food Pantry. She was a member of the Christian singing group, Set Free.

Juanita is survived by her husband; four sons, Steve (Marlene), David, Roger, and Michael (Kathryn); grandsons, Benjamin, Jeremy, and Derek; one great-granddaughter, Kelsey; and a brother, John (Joy) Brownfield. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and a sister Barbara Lincoln.

Elva A. Fike, 89, Mayport, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Jefferson Manor Health Center in Brookville. She was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Oliver Township, a daughter of the late Manuel J. and Myrtle (Moore) Burkett. On Sept. 18, 1948, she married Dale E. Fike of Mayport, who survives. Throughout her life, she was employed by Cameron, Sylvania, and Rolo. Her family was her life.

She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening and feeding and watching her backyard birds. She attended the Langville Church, where she was the pianist.

Mr. Depp retired in 1991 from Packard Electric in Warren, where he worked 27 years as service general in Plant 10. He previously worked for Smith Trucking in Oliveburg as a truck driver moving heavy equipment. He was an avid hunter and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Maxine (Horner) Depp, whom he married May 4, 1957; a son, William F. (Sherry) Depp of Austintown; a daughter, Janice E. (Matthew) Stone of Champion Township; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry (Elizabeth) Depp of Punxsutawney and Paul (Jane) Depp of Allegheny, N.Y.; and a sister, Judy M. (Samuel) Dinger of Stanton, Pa. A brother, Harold Depp, and a sister, Jean Leasure, both preceded him in death.

Walter S. Burkett, 83, of Timblin, died Sunday, March 2, 1986, at Brookville Hospital. Mr. Burkett was born April 7, 1902, in Oliver Township, Jefferson county, the son of Jacob I. and Catherine (Brocious) Burkett. He was married December 24, 1929, to Ruth M. Thompson, who preceded him in death April 11, 1981.

Mr. Burkett was a retired electrician and repairman for the coal mines. He was a member of the Timblin Nazarene Church and the United Mine Workers of America.

Surviving relatives include one daughter, Mrs. Clair (Elizabeth) Emery of Brookville R.D. 1; two sons: Donald Burkett of Distant, and Harold Burkett of Timblin; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Nellie Horner of Punxsutawney; and a brother, Leonard Burkett of Punxsutawney R.D. 5. Born April 10, 1906 in Coolspring, she was a daughter of Edward and Mina (Smith) Thompson. She was married to Walter Burkett on Dec. 24, 1929. A member of the Church of the Nazarene of Timblin, she was a resident of the area all her life.

Darl "Bud" Crawford of Porter Township, Clarion County, died while deer hunting near home Monday, Nov. 30, 2009. Born in Oak Ridge, Redbank Township, on Feb. 25, 1938 he was a son of Darl F. and Ida Beer Crawford. On Sept. 2, 1960 he married Patricia J. Gathers, who survives.

A lumber buyer for Crawford Furniture Company, Mr. Crawford had also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an avid outdoorsman.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Crawford of Gibsonia; two grandchildren, Bryan and Blaine Crawford of Gibsonia; two brothers, Samuel R. Crawford and Richard Crawford; and two sisters; Jean Shaffer and Cheryl Metz.

DALLAS, Ore. - A loving husband, father and grandfather, Albert went on to meet the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, after a courageous 13-year battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 8, 1939, in McMinnville, Oregon, to Allie and Ilena Derrick, the second oldest of six children. He grew up in Sandlake, Oregon, and spent his teenage years in Mill City, Oregon. Albert worked in the logging industry and odd jobs for years before getting his dream job working for the Polk County Road Department. He retired in 1998 after being diagnosed with leukemia. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2007.

He married Sue (Daniels) Cox on March 6, 1969. He attended The Highway Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Dallas where he enjoyed playing music and singing for the Lord. Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.

Donald W. Duzenbury, age 76, of Mt. Pleasant Passed away July 20, 2012 at Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan. Donald was born on March 29, 1936 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan to Wyatt and Irene Wyman Duzenbury.

Don graduated from MPHS, class of 1954. He served in the US Air Force from September 1954 to June of 1958. He started working at the local post office in 1966, retiring in 1992. To Don, retirement was a full time job.

In May of 1956, he married his first wife, Kay McClintic Duzenbury. She preceded him in death in 1996. Don and Judy Green were married in 1997. Don felt that God blessed him with two beautiful ladies to share his life. Don attended the First Baptist Church for years, loved golf, dabbled in wood carving, and loved being at his place on the river with friends.

Funeral services for Don were held at the First Baptist Church, 1802 East High Street, Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, July 25 at 11:00 AM with Rev. James Turner officiating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, July 24 at the Rowley Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday at the church from 10 AM until time of the service. Memorial contributions were suggested to the First Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Don is survived by his wife, Judy; six children, Terri Lynn Duzenbury, Tami K. (Al) Sisco, Donald Brian Duzenbury, Burke C. (Cindy) Duzenbury, Jaclyn (Denis) Koenig, and John (Kim) Brantuk II; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Kay.

WHEATFIELD — Thelma Armbruster, of Niagara Falls, died on July 3, 2013 in Elderwood Health Care at Crestwood. She was 99. Born in a log cabin in the Smokey Mountains on February 28, 1914, the daughter of Clarence and Muriel (Marsh) Stahlman and moved to Niagara Falls as a teen.

An avid genealogist, she traced her ancestors back to 1635.  She was also an antique collector and was a member of the Doll Club in Lockport.

She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2006. Survived by three daughters, Jeryl Trybala of California; Nancy Schuessler (Michael) of Manlius, NY; Holly Cummings (DeWayne) of Ransomville; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Grenfell Stahlman and a sister, Vivian Frawley.

Amy E. Fabian, a resident of Leesport, Pa., formerly of Doylestown and Revere, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Berks Heim - Berks County Home in Leesport. She was 93. Born in Tinicum Township, Bucks County, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Miriam Frankenfield Fabian.

Miss Fabian graduated from West Chester State Teachers' College with a bachelor of science in education and Lehigh University with a master's in education. She was an elementary school teacher, teaching in the Palisades School District for 40 years, primarily teaching at Nockamixon Elementary School. After retiring in 1977, she volunteered at the Durham and Nockamixon Elementary schools and was involved with the Blood Mobile.

Amy was a longtime and very active member of Salem United Church of Christ in Doylestown, where she was on the Church Consistory. She was a member of the Bucks County Elementary Teacher Forum and she belonged to the Bucks County, Pennsylvania State and National Education Associations.

Surviving is a brother, the Rev. Eli R. Fabian of Martinsburg, Pa.; two nephews, Ronald M. Fabian of Leesport and Charles Fabian of Lewistown, Pa.; and a niece, Miriam Slicker of Huntingdon, Pa.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. Interment will follow in Lower Tinicum Cemetery, Pipersville. Donald R. Eshbaugh, of Strattanville, died on January 15, 2013, at the Clarview Nursing and Rehab Center near Sligo. He was 88 years old. Born on March 20, 1924 in Brookville, he was the son of Mabel Eshbaugh Carr. He was raised by his grandparents, Frank and Margaret Eshbaugh, and his uncles were more like brothers. He was a truck driver. Mr. Eshbaugh was of Protestant faith. On Valentine's Day in 1944, he married the former Vivian Smith. They raised four children together. She preceded him in death in 1993.

Mr. Eshbaugh is survived by his three daughters, Bonnie Smith and her husband Pat of Roseville PA, Marjorie Renninger and her husband Bill of Strattanville PA, and Margaret Becker and her husband Gordon of Bath PA. He also has 14 grandchildren, Ed Eshbaugh, Ken Eshbaugh, Jamie Hyde, Don Smith, Brian Smith, Katina Kiehl, Brandon Smith, Dan Renninger, Kim Renninger, Eric Renninger, Greg Renninger, Jennifer Terefenko, Dave Becker and Mike Becker; 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-grandchild. He is also survived by a daughter in law, Shirley Eshbaugh of Corsica.

In addition to his mother and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Jim Eshbaugh, a grandson Robert Eshbaugh, and three uncles, Ray, Floyd, and David Eshbaugh.

A lifetime area resident, Mildred was a homemaker. She married her husband, Robert D. Eshbaugh Sr. on May 3, 1953. Together they shared 54 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2008.

She is survived by her two sons; Robert D. Eshbaugh Jr. of Mansfield and Ronald D. Eshbaugh of Cortland; 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and 2 brothers.

Philip Gordon Weckerly passed away at his home in Mount Vernon Monday February 9, 2004 at the age of 98 years. He was born on January 2, 1906 in Hurdsfield, ND, the son of Edgar & Jennie Hildebrant Weckerly. He was raised in North Dakota. For a while he worked as a farmer in North Dakota and Montana.

In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving with the 38th Battalion Sea Bees. While stationed on the island of Tinian, the Sea Bees built the runway for the Enola Gay, the infamous B-52 Bomber that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. After his discharge he made his home in Seattle, where on March 26, 1949 he was united in marriage to Katherine Dahlen, and inherited her six children.

Gordon worked for Seattle City Light in Seattle, moving to Newhalem in 1951 where he lived for 17 years and worked as a lineman and repairman, retiring in 1968 after 30 years of service. He moved to Marblemount in 1968 where he built his "dream home" and where he and his wife resided until moving to the Alpine Ridge Apartments in Mount Vernon in 1998.

He was a 55 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he was a 30 year member of the Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church in Concrete and a current a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. He was involved with R. S. V. P., a senior volunteer organization in Concrete.

Gordon loved classical music, playing poker, bingo and pinochle, building and fixing things and just tinkering.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine, at the family home in Mount Vernon. 2 sons, Joseph Weckerly & wife Sharon in the Peace Corps in Kyrgtzstan, and Tom Weckerly & wife Judy of California. 4 daughters, Barbara Kane of Pennsylvania, Carol Schockly of Michgan, Joan Schmidt & companion Daniel Becker of Everett, and Leslie Bates and husband Lawrence of Birdsview. 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 2 grandsons and 1 great-grandson.

Katherine Mabel Weckerly, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Alpine Ridge Retirement Apartments in Mount Vernon, Washington.  She was born on May 25, 1916 in Davenport, North Dakota the daughter of Bernhard and Mathilda (Johnson) Dahlen. Katherine grew up in North Dakota, later residing in Spokane and Seattle for many years. While living in Seattle during WWII, she worked at Boeing as a riveter.

She was married to Philip Gordon Weckerly on March 26, 1949 in Seattle and in 1951 they moved to Newhalem where Gordon worked for Seattle City Light. While residing in Newhalem, Katherine worked as a librarian for Seattle City Light and was superintendant at the local Sunday school. In 1968, they moved to Marblemount and resided there until moving to Mount Vernon in 1998 residing at Alpine Ridge Retirement Apartments.

Katherine was a longtime member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Concrete and later Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. She was active in the Friendship Circle at Salem Lutheran and she loved hats and was known as the "Hat Lady" at Salem Lutheran.

Katherine loved to travel and she had the trip of a lifetime in 2005 with several members of her family when she traveled on the Queen Mary II to London and Norway. She enjoyed her fellowship with the residents of Alpine Ridge, but most of all she loved her family and looked forward to attending family events. She will be remembered by her family as a great baker and homemaker.

She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Weckerly and his wife Sharon of Bremerton and Thomas Weckerly and his wife Judy of Azusa, CA; four daughters, Barbara Kane of Altoona, PA, Carol Schockly of Grand Rapids, MI, Joan Schmidt of Mount Vernon and Leslie Bates and her husband Lawrence of Birdsview; a sister, Ione Johnson of Ocean Shores; 20 grandchildren, 39 great- grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon in February of 2004; and nine brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker and member of the Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Braxton County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Mountaineer Food Bank.

Services were held 10:00 AM Monday, July 22 at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home in Gassaway, WV, with the Rev. Joe Truman officiating. Burial followed at the Moore Family Cemetery. Friends called Sunday, July 21, from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.

Alice Florence Anderson, 93, passed away November 18th, 2012. Alice was born April 3rd, 1919 in Scott, Oklahoma to Joseph Daniel and Hazel Pearl (Stahlman) Arnold.

She leaves behind children and spouses: Josephine Dickson, Janie and James Quayle, Johnnie and Jeanette Anderson, Leta and Ken Dyer, daughter in law Rebecca Anderson; grandchildren and spouses: Monty Dickson, Malcolm Dickson, Randy and Jill Dickson, Judy Tennant, Jill and Kevin Kelly, Michelle and Zak Phillips, Kelly and Bryan Stewart, David and Michelle Anderson, Jan Quayle and Scott Barrett, Jenni and John Dorough, Azure De and John Buol, Steve and Christina Anderson; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother John and June Arnold; sister-in-law Gladys Wilt.

Preceded in death by parents, husband Jack Anderson; son Dan Anderson, daughter Linda Ann Anderson; grandson Marty Dickson; great grandson Chad Dickson. Interment: Monday, November 26th, 2012, Resthaven Memory Gardens.

1200. Bonnie (Harding) Bowser from the Leader-Times July 12, 2007

The Rev. Bonnie H. Bowser, 94, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in Health Care Center in Kittanning. She was born Dec. 5, 1912, in Washington, a daughter of the late David and Colista Mae Harding. She was a minister for 70 years and was a missionary on the Indian Reservation for many years.

She is survived by her sisters, Martha B. Lasher and husband, Carl, of Kittanning, and Lois J. Bennett, of Kittanning, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leroy "Roy" Bowser, in 1965 (sic-1975); brothers, Logan, Russell and Charles Harding, and sisters, Elizabeth Lasher and Mary Crissman.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First Church of God, corner of Chestnut Street and Woodward Avenue, Kittanning. The Rev. John Snyder will officiate. Interment in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery. SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME INC., Kittanning, entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of First Church of God in Kittanning.
