Meade C. Stahlman, 66, of 47 Grahamville Street, North East, died last night at Hamot Hospital after an extended illness. He is survived by five sons, Charles Stahlman, USAF, Greenland; Raymond Stahlman, Findley Lake; Russell Stahlman, Texas; Donald Stahlman, North Tonawanda, and Harold Stahlman, Jamestown; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Lawrence, Texas, and Mrs. Merle Adams, Clymer, N.Y.; two brothers, Sidney Stahlman, North East, and Neal Stahlman, Clymer; and three sisters, Mrs. Ora Roger, Kane; Mrs. Carrie Gray, Union Town, O., and Mrs. Edith Carrell, North East.

Friends may call at the Marks Funeral Home, 65 South Lake St., North East, from 7 to 9 pm Saturday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday. Services will be at 2 pm Monday with the Rev. I. M. Shreve officiating. Burial will be in Loomis Cemetery, RD 2, Union City, Pa.

On the WWI registration in 1917, he says his name is Meade Charles Stahlman.  He was born Sept 14, 1892 in Sigel and he was living in Corry Erie PA.  The obit date for Meade C. Stahlman is 4-4-1959.

Joseph P. Gresko, age 88, beloved husband of Marion Buynak Gresko of Stratford passed away on Monday, November 6, 2006 at home with his family by his side. Mr. Gresko was born on March 19, 1918 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Michael and Susan Paulsin Gresko.

He was a United States WW II army veteran and was employed as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service for fifteen years and had previously been employed as a Lace Weaver for the American Fabrics Company for thirty five years. Joseph was a member of the Stratford Baldwin Center, Slovak Catholic Sokols Branch # 9, Holy Name of Jesus Seniors and men’s club.

In addition to his devoted wife Marion of fifty-nine years, he is also survived by two sons, James J. Gresko of Stratford, Joseph P. Gresko of Bpt., four daughters, JoAnne Schroth and her husband Charles of Westfield, Mass., Jacqueline Convertito and her husband Philip of Stratford, Susan Maillard and her husband Robert of Stratford, Sandra Pegolo of Stratford, one sister, Helen Stahlman of Clarion, Pa., nine grandchildren, Coriann, Jared, David, Michelle, Brian, Craig, Steven, Angela, Ryan and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Frank and John.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 8:00 AM at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford and at 9:00 AM at the Holy Name of Jesus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday November 9, 2006 from 4 – 8 PM.

403. Samuel E. Hetrick from The Punxsutawney Spirit January 25, 2008

Samuel E. Hetrick, 86, Summerville, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at the Jefferson Manor Health Center. He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Beaver Township, a son of the late Ralph and Cora Brocious Hetrick of Brookville. April 24, 1948, Mr. Hetrick married Gladys Hetrick in Stanton, who survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II in the 60A 593rd Signal Air Warning Battalion. Mr. Hetrick was a member of the Brookville Calvary Church of Nazarene and the director and caretaker of the Ohl Cemetery. He worked for more than 30 years at National Fuel Gas as a general laborer.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, Edward J. Hetrick of Shoreline Wa.; a daughter, Janice K. Hetrick of Summerville; three grandchildren, Michael Hetrick, Melissa Huffman and Myranda Reinard; and a great-granddaughter, Karlie Huffman.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, John and Paul Hetrick.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

Louise Heintzmann of Austin, Texas died peacefully on August 9th, 2004, at the age of 74.

Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and strived for perfection in everything she did. Beauty and style were integral parts of her life defined by her artistic and creative qualities. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside and will be missed by her family and friends.

The most important elements of her life included her daughters, grand-daughters and great-granddaughter. She loved her husband, mother and siblings and will be missed deeply by her family.

Left to cherish her life and celebrate her memory are her husband, Albert Heintzmann, daughters, Chere’ Heintzmann-Bloomquist and husband, Bob, of Austin, Cathie Heintzmann-Ogden and husband, John, of Keller TX, granddaughters Chelsey Ogden of Keller TX, Meaghan Haslam and husband Mark, and great-granddaughter, Daryn Haslam of Austin. Louise is also survived by her mother, Myra Stahlman of Buffalo, NY, brother Ted Stahlman, of Austin and sisters, Geraldine Cordry of Phoenix AZ and Beverly DeGeorge of Charleston SC. She is preceded in death by her father, Theodore Stahlman and sister, Shirley Franasiak both of Buffalo NY.

Louise was a devout gardener, quilter and photographer, having shown her work in various shows throughout the Austin area. She was also a devout wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt whose love and encouragement was reflected in all that she did. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Tarrytown United Methodist Church, on August 20th at 6:00 p.m. 

She shared her life with many friends – and was especially close to her mother and sisters who administered to her health until the end. Special thanks to Dr. John Sandbach, the staff of Texas Oncology and the staff of Christopher House, Austin for their loving care and support during Louise’s battle with cancer.

405. Elmyra M. (Myra) Stahlman

Elmyra Stahlman passed away peacefully on February 27th, at the age of 94. Myra was born in Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania on March 11, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Jay T. and Mary M. (Haugh) Simpson. She was the last surviving member of a family of eight children. Left to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life, are her children, Geraldine Cordry, of Phoenix, AZ, Beverley J. DeGeorge and her husband Frank of Charleston, SC, and Theodore E. Stahlman, of Austin, TX, Son-in-law John Franasiak, of Tonawanda, NY, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Theodore Stahlman, daughters Louise Heintzmann, Shirley Franasiak, sons-in-law Donald Portwood, David Cordry, Albert Heintzmann and grandson Steve Portwood. She was married September 15, 1928 in Clarion, PA and moved to Buffalo, NY where she lived for the next 65 years. She was an active member of the Forest Ave. Church of Christ before moving to Austin, TX in 1996 where she attended Tarrytown United Methodist Church. Her family loved to hear the many funny stories she told about her youth and life on the farm in the early 1900’s when life was supposed to be simpler. It was a well known fact that she hated farm life and wanted nothing more to do with milking cows and the many chores of farming.

Myra is remembered as an amazing individual who took immense pride in being a loving wife and mother to her beloved children – not to mention the world’s best grandmother. Myra was mentally alert, did her crossword puzzles daily and was incredibly talented in many crafts including quilting, crocheting and needle work. Myra lived her faith daily and never spoke ill of anyone. She truly walked in God’s shadow and was considered a blessing to her family who loved and cared for her until her death. She was a true blessing from God who will be forever in our hearts – we will love you always and miss you more than words can say. In the end Myra left her family a legacy of warm smiles, soft words of comfort, incredible faith, joyous laughter and an unconditional love that will live forever. A memorial service honoring her life will be held March 11th at 1:00 p.m. in the Tarrytown United Methodist Chapel with Pastor Ann Beatty officiating.

Geneva Pearl Hoffman, 90, Summerville, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville. She was born May 10, 1918, in Oliveburg, a daughter of the late Norman and Fern (Mitchell) Dinger.Aug. 28, 1937, Mrs. Hoffman married Harold C. Hoffman, who survives. She was a member of the Pine Valley Church, where she served as a pianist for many years.Mrs. Hoffman had formerly worked at Brookville Hospital in the cafeteria.

She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and playing bingo. William L. "Bill" Smith, 69, Route 322, Brookville, Roseville, died Monday at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville. Born Dec. 28, 1938, in Ridgway, he was the son of the late Leonard and Mae Cowan Smith. He was married to Helen C. Hetrick May 2, 1959, in Roseville. She preceded him in death April 7, 1989. He married Elsie L. Matthews Aug. 4, 1990, in Brookville. She preceded him in death July 10, 2004.

He previously worked for Bracken Construction in Sligo and Stahlman Coal Company in Corsica and retired from the Department of Environmental Protection. He was the secretary/treasurer for Council 13 AFSME Union with the D.E.P. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville and was the secretary/treasurer of the Roseville Bethel Cemetery Association.

He enjoyed farming, the morning breakfast club and spending time with his family. He is survived by one son, Michael W. Smith of Summerville; three daughters: Mrs. John (Debra L.) Shriver and Pamela S. Smith, both of Brookville and Mrs. Mark (Sandy) McCleary of Corsica; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jeff (Vicki) Stahlman and Mrs. Michael (Rita) Burns, both of Brookville; one sister, Linda McKinstry of Brookville; three grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elsie Love Smith, 67, of Roseville, died Saturday, July 10, 2004 at Laurelbrooke Landing, McKinley Health Center. She was born on December 31, 1936 in Summerville the daughter of John A. Love and Adah Mae McMaster Love. (She was married) On August 4, 1990 in Brookville to William L. Smith, who survives. Mrs. Smith retired after 20 years of service with Deposit National Bank in Brookville. She was the door attendant and greeter at McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. She enjoyed singing, camping, cooking, being active in church activities. Mrs. Smith was a 1955 graduate of C-L High School.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville and the Secretary-Treasurer of the Roseville-Bethel Cemetery Association. Surviving along with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Jeffery B. (Vicki) Stahlman, of Brookville; Mrs. Michael C. (Rita) Burns of Brookville, four stepchildren, Mrs. John (Debbie) Shriver, Brookville, Pamela Smith, Brookville, Michael (wife Peggy) Smith of Brookville and Mrs. Mark (Sandra) McCleary, of Corsica, three step grandchildren, one granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews, one brother, L. Elmer (wife Dorothy) Love, Brookville, and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Berkebile, Brookville, and Jeanne Showalter of Winter Park, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four half-brothers, one half-sister, one sister, Margaret Bailey, and an infant brother and an infant sister. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 11 am at the Evangelical U.M. Church, Brookville, with the Rev. Andrew P. Spore officiating. 410. Almeda P. Graybill from “The Blizzard”, Oil City Pa 

Almeda P. Graybill, 58, of 506 North Street, died in the Oil City Hospital at 5:07 pm Wednesday. She had been ailing about two weeks. She was born in Clarion County, November 30, 1897, the daughter of the late Charles C. and Mary E. Copenhaver Stahlman. Mrs. Graybill was educated in Byromtown schools, Forest County. She married William Russel, who died June 1919. Later she married Sidmore S. Graybill, who preceded her in death January 7, 1949. 

Mrs. Graybill resided in Oil City since 1914. She was a member of the First Free Methodist Church and the Goodwin Bible Class. She is survived by two sons, William D. and Ralph W. Russel of Oil City, and one daughter, Mrs. Eileen Graybill Tarr, with whom she resided.

Other survivors include: a nephew, Charles Stahlman; Oil City; grandchildren, William Jr.; Connie Ann, Linda Thomas, Ralph Jr., Gerald Russel; of Oil City; and Timothy Tarr; Oil City; two sisters, J. Kate Noblit; Shippensville, and Mrs. Jesse Ortha Hipwell, Plumer; five brothers, Milton Stahlman, Seneca; Charles Stahlman, Rushville, NY; Glade and Donald, Oil City; Roy Stahlman, Van; and a half-brother, Edward Dean, of Stowe, Ohio. The body is in the Crawford Funeral Home.   

411.    Eileen Graybill Tarr

Eileen Graybill Tarr, 91, of 102 Glenview Ave., Oil City died unexpectedly at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in the emergency room at UPMC in Franklin. Born April 17, 1922, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Sidmore and Almeda Stahlman Russell Graybill.

Mrs. Tarr attended Oil City Schools. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Oil City. She enjoyed her family, church and reading. She was married April 11, 1941, in Winchester, Va., to Oscar L. Tarr. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1995. 

Mrs. Tarr is survived by a son, Timothy and his wife Jane of Clarion; two grandchildren, Deborah Seich of Homer City and Ronald L. Tarr of Wilmington, Del.; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Bostaph of Homer City; and a brother, Ralph W. Russell of Richmond, Virginia. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William D. Russell.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday in the Reinsel Funeral Home of Oil City.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Nazarene, 601 E. Second St. Interment will be in Rynd Farm cemetery.

412. Cora May (Wallace) Stahlman  from the Jefferson Democrat 4/28/1910 from Chris

Death of Mrs. G. W. Stahlman

Cora May Wallace was born in the northern part of Jefferson County near Sigel, on the 5th of May 1867.  She was united in marriage to G. W. (Sic George McClelland) Stahlman on the 15th of October 1890.  Of this union four children were born, all of whom with her husband survive.  She was suddenly stricken with typhoid fever and died on the 22d of April, 1910, at the age of 42 years, 11 months and 17 days.  The funeral took place Sunday afternoon from her late home on Pine Street.  Rev. T. W. Evans, of the Baptist church, conducted the services.  The burial took place at Sigel.  Mrs. Stahlman united with the Baptist church in 1901, and up to her death she was a devoted Christian woman.  "She rests from her labors and her good works follow her."

413. Audley B. Stahlman From The Cumberland Evenings Times, Cumberland, Md.  June 11, 1966 

Audley B. (Jake) Stahlman, 50, of Ellerslie, died yesterday at his home. Born in State Line, Pa., February 14, 1916, he was a son of Mrs. Bessie (Davis) Stahlman, Ellerslie, and the late Banks. O. Stahlman. He was a member of the Ellerslie EUB Church, Funkstown Road and Gun Club and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Stahlman worked 21 years at Celanese Fibers Company until 1954, after which he operated his own plumbing and heating business. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mildred (Baker) Stahlman: two children, Glenn Stahlman, at home, and Mrs. Patti Stair, Hyndman RD 1: three brothers, James W. Stahlman, Buena Park, Calif.; Frank H. Stahlman, Ellerslie, and Curtis Stahlman, Hyndman RD 1; four sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Kelly, Springfield, Va.; Mrs. Margaret Carl, LaVale; Mrs. Annie Horner, Hyndman, and Mrs. Donna Shaffer, Hyndman RD 1, and five grandchildren.

The body is at the Ziegler Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence where friends will be received after 7 pm today. A service will be conducted Monday at 2 pm at Ellerslie EUB Church. Rev. George Baughman and Rev. J. Howard Smith, will officiate and burial will be in Porter Cemetery, Ellerslie. Military honors will be accorded by Oscar Jordan VFW Post 7375.

414. Mary (Lehman) Stahlman Heffern  from The Oil City Derrick, August 3,  1970

Mrs. Mary B. Heffern, 78, of 104 E. Third Street, was dead on arrival 6 pm Sunday at Oil City Hospital. She was born November 30, 1892, in Baxter, the daughter of Jacob and Annie Smith Lehman. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Mrs. Heffern was married to M. Earl Stahlman in 1911; he died in 1918. She later married Madison L. Heffern in 1921 and he died in 1963.

One daughter, Mrs. Harold (Irene) Ray, with whom she made her home, survives her as well as a stepson, Lee C. Heffern of Oil City. Also surviving are four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 7 pm today at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday in the funeral home. Rev. Edward Hendrickson of the Grace Lutheran Church, Franklin, will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Park.

415. Catharine (Stahlman) Mohney from The Brookville Republican 9/18/1900 

Mrs. Catharine Mohney, wife of Adam Mohney, died at her home in Knox Township, on Saturday evening, September 15^th, 1900, at 10 o’clock. The deceased had been in poor health for almost two years, having been stricken with paralysis early in the spring of last year, from the effects of which she never recovered. Mrs. Mohney’s maiden name was Catharine Stahlman. Her first husband was William Wadding, who died a number of years ago when they were residing in Corsica. In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. M. B. Wynkoop, of Brookville. She was about 70 years of age. Her remains were given burial at 10:00 0’clock yesterday morning, in the Shilling Lutheran graveyard near her late home, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. Neff.

416. Mary (Fulmer) Stahlman from The Oil City Derrick February 8, 1949

Dies of Injuries Sustained in Fall

Mrs. Mary A. Stahlman, 82, of Frogtown, died shortly before midnight in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry J. Miller of New Bethlehem, of injuries received last Saturday when she is reported to have fallen down the basement stairs of her home. According to the death certificate, Mrs. Stahlman sustained a skull injury in the mishap and never regained consciousness after the accident.

A daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Emanuel Fulmer, she was born June 22, 1866 in Ashland Township. On February 9, 1887, she was married to Jacob Stahlman. Mrs. Stahlman lived a number of years in Ashland, Porter, and Limestone townships and Clarion borough and was a member of the Nevin Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church of Frogtown.

Surviving are three children, Grover A. of New Bethlehem, Star Route, Ezra F. of Clarks Mills, and Mrs. Harry J. Miller of New Bethlehem, Star Route; and six grandchildren. The body is at the family home.

417. William W. Stahlman from The Derrick, Oil City, Pa  December 2, 1970

Rites for W. Stahlman, Accident Victim, Slated

CLARION – Funeral services for William Webster Stahlman, 83, of Fisher, who died at 5:45 pm Monday in Clarion Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident about a half hour earlier, will be conducted at 11 am Friday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home. Rev. Allen Maihle, pastor of the Sigel United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Strattonville Cemetery.

The accident occurred on Route 322, east of Clarion when Mr. Stahlman’s pickup truck and a station wagon driven by William Fleming, 18, of Clarion RD 1 collided head on. Mr. Stahlman’s death was attributed to a crushed chest.

He was born October 4, 1887, in Fisher, the son of Henry and Jennie Graybill Stahlman. His wife, Lulla J. Stahlman, preceded him in death in 1966. Mr. Stahlman was a laborer by occupation. He is survived by two sons; Paul Stahlman and Dorsey Stahlman, both of Fisher; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Norma) Schmidt of Philadelphia and Mrs. Ronald (Eileen) Schad of Hyndman, Pa; one sister, Mrs. George (Virgina) Leebarger of Maryland; one brother, Perle Stahlman of Hyndman; and five grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today and Thursday at the Burns Funeral Home.

CLARION – Mrs. Lulu (sic; Lula) Jane Stahlman, 71, of Fisher, wife of William W. Stahlman, died at 5:30 pm Tuesday in the Brookville Hospital. Born in Petersburg, W. Va., September 18, 1895, she was a daughter of Abraham and Cora Stump Iman. She and William Stahlman were married July 5, 1914. He survives. Mrs. Stahlman was a member of the Christian Church, of Hyndman.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Paul D. Stahlman of Fisher and Dorsey W. Stahlman of Lisbon, N. H.; three daughters, Mrs. Norma Schmidt of Philadelphia, Mrs. Clara Browning and Mrs. Eileen Schad of Hyndman; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Removal was made to the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today and Friday and where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday. Rev. Gale A. Jewell will officiate. Internment will be in Strattanville Cemetery.

Henry P. (sic E) Stahlman Rites

Ellerslie, Md., June 25 – Henry P. (sic E) Stahlman, 76, died yesterday at his home in Stringtown, Pa., just north of here. Son of the late Dewalt and Mary Putter (sic – Potter) Stahlman, he was married on July 26, 1886, and ran a sawmill at Hyndman until last year when he moved to Stringtown. Surviving are his widow, Rachael Graybill Stahlman and the following children: Clyde E., Bank (sic – Banks), and Mrs. Virginia P. Lyberger, Elleslie; William W. and Paul (sic – Perl) C., Hyndman; Mrs. Grace L. Stroup, Cumberland; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Fross (sic – Frost), Pigeon, Pa., and 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The body will be brought to his daughter’s home in Ellerslie and services will be held Friday, at the Evangelical church with burial in Crooksville cemetery.

Mrs. Rachel J. Stahlman Hyndman, Pa., June 26 – Mrs. Rachel Jane Stahlman, 70, of Fisher, Pa., died yesterday afternoon. She was the daughter of the late John and Lydia Graybill and was married to Henry E. Stahlman who died one year ago Tuesday.

Surviving children are William W. Stahlman, Hyndman; Banks O. Stahlman and Clyde D. Stahlman, Ellerslie; Perle Stahlman, Hyndman; Mrs. G. M. Stroup, Cumberland, and Mrs. G. W. Lybarger, Ellerslie.

Mrs. Grace Leola Stroup, 75, wife of George O. Stroup, 164 Bedford Street, died Sunday at Western Maryland State Hospital, Hagerstown. Born at Fisher, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Henry E. and Rachel (Grabill sic Graybill) Stahlman. Mrs. Stroup was a member of Centre Street Methodist Church and the Wesleyan Guild of the church.

Also surviving are five sons, Arnold H. and Glen W. Stroup, both of Baltimore; Otis H. Stroup, Severna Park, Md.; Ira D. Stroup, Franconia, N.H.; and Richard F. Stroup, Cumberland; three daughters, Mrs. Urner Carl, LaVale; Mrs. Raymond Easton, Cumberland, and Mrs. William Stewart, Keyser; three brothers, Perl Stahlman, Hyndman; William Stahlman, Fisher, and Clyde Stahlman, Corriganville; a sister, Mrs. George Lybarger, Ellerslie; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

George Otis Stroup, 90, of 605 Chestnut Street, Keyser, a former resident of Cumberland, died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital. He formerly resided at 164 Bedford Street. He was born in Fisher, Pa., a son of the late Arnold H. and Mary E. (Wierich) Stroup. He was a retired employee of Amcelle Plant of Celanese Corporation where he worked in the Acetone Recovery department. He was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church and was a 40-year member of Cumberland Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Mr. Stroup is survived (sic) by his widow, Mrs. Grace (Stahlman) Stroup; four sons, Otis Henry Stroup, Severna Park; Glen W. and Richard S. Stroup, Baltimore, and Ira D. Stroup, Franconia, N.H., and three daughters, Mrs. Urner Carl, LaVale; Mrs. Raymond Easton, this city, and Mrs. William Stewart, Keyser, with whom he resided; a sister, Mrs. Franklin Hoff, Warren, Pa.; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Leasure-Stein Fumeral Home from 2 to 4 pm ans 7 to 9 pm Saturday. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 3:30 pm Sunday by Rev. Lester Welch, pastor of Centre Street  Methodist Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Ira D. Stroup, 52, of Franconia, N.H., and formerly of Cumberland, died yesterday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, White River Junction, Vt., where he had undergone surgery last week. Born in Ellerslie, he was a son of the late George and Grace (Stahlman) Stroup.

A graduate of Allegany High School, he served as an officer in the Air Force in Italy during World War II and graduated from Washington-Jefferson College and until last year had owned and operated the Horse and Hound Inn in Franconia. Surviving are his widow, Angela (Ruppert) Stroup, formerly of Cumberland; four daughters, Mary Beth, Martha, Jane and Kathy Stroup, and a son George Stroup, all of Franconia; three brothers, Junior Stroup, Severna Park; Glenn Stroup, Essex, and Fay Stroup, Baltimore; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond Easton, city; Mrs. William Stewart, Keyser, and Mrs. Urner Carl, LaVale.

The body is at the Ross Funeral Home, in Littleton, N.H., where a service will be conducted Monday at 11 am. Interment will be in Littleton.

424. S. Frantz Carl The Cumberland Evening Times, October 11, 1968

S. Frantz Carl, 53, of 941 National Highway, LaVale, was pronounced dead on arrival this morning at Sacred Heart Hospital. A newspaperman, he began work for the Cumberland Evening Times in February 1936 as a sports writer. He later transferred to the Cumberland News where he was sports editor and later became telegraph editor. He held that position at the time of his death. He had worked last night.

Born December 14, 1914 in Cumberland, he was the son of Mrs. Kathryn (Frantz) Carl and the late Urner G. Carl, Sr. He was a member of the Ellerslie United Church of Christ. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret J. (Stahlman) Carl; one son, David Carl, Springfield, Ill.; one brother, Urner G. Carl Jr., LaVale, and one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Donavon, Washington.

O. Glade Stahlman Succumbs at Age 77

O. Glade Stahlman, 77, of 715 W. Front St., a former employee of Oilwell Division of U.S. Steel Corp., died at 1:40 am Saturday in Oil City Hospital. He was born at East Branch February 21, 1900, a son of Charles Clinton and Mary Ellen Copenhaver Stahlman. At one time he worked for the City Hotel here. Later he worked as a coremaker at Oilwell. He was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church

His wife, the former Emma Helena Ziegler, died April 1, 1970. He is survuived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Brzezinski of Oil City; a brother, Roy Stahlman of Oil City, and five grandchildren. Friends may call any time at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today.

Mrs. Frank R. (Ruth Edna Carnahan) Stahlman, 67, of Chicora RD 1 died unexpectedly Wednesday (Dec. 5, 1962) at the home of a son, Frank Stahlman Jr., Chicora RD 1. Mrs. Stahlman was a member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, Chicora RD 1 and a member of the Missionary Society and friendly Bible Class of that church.

Surviving are her husband, Frank Ross Stahlman; three daughters, Mrs. A. E. Billy R. Dinger, 81, Valier, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville. He was born Jan. 20, 1927, a son of the late Norman and Fern (Mitchell) Dinger. Mr. Dinger was married to Olive Miller, who preceded him in death Jan. 19, 2008. He was a member of the Valier United Methodist Church. Mr. Dinger was a member of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Company, the Dayton Young Farmers and the John. W. Jenks Masonic Lodge No. 534. He was a retired employee of Agway in Dayton.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cheryl Young and husband Arthur (Bud) of Valier; two grandsons, Randy Young and fiance Becky and Buddy Young and wife Amy; four great-grandchildren, Shawn and Samantha LaBorde, and Kody and Kaleb Young; two brothers, Paul Dinger of Warren, Ohio, and Norman Dinger of Punxsutawney; and four sisters, Mary London of Cortland, Ohio, Betty Caylor of Huntersville, N.C., Evelyn Chambers of Punxsutawney, and Shirley Saw of Aiken, S.C.

428. James M. Stahlman from Simpson's Leader-Times (Kittanning, Pa) March 2, 1961

James M. Stahlman, 72, of 1770 Third St., Beaver, died unexpectedly Wednesday (March 1, 1961) in Rochester General Hospital as a result of a heart attack. He was born April 7, 1888, in Ringgold, a son of the late Jacob and Mary (Brocious) Stahlman. He resided in New Bethlehem for eight years before moving to Beaver 1n 1934.

He was a member of First Methodist Church in Beaver and the Men’s Bible Class of the church. He retired in 1957 as pictorial artist for Rochester Outdoor Advertising Company. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie (Shaffer) Stahlman; a son, J. E. of Zelienople; two daughters, Mrs. W. E. (Evelyn) Rodemoyer of Corry and Mrs. L. G. (Betty Lou) Manwaring of Jenkins, Ky.; and six grandchildren.

Friends will be received at J. T. Anderson and Son funeral home, 205 College Ave., Beaver, from 7 to 9 pm today and from 3 to 5 and to 9 pm tomorrow. 429. Arcia (Cole) Stahlman from the Van Wert Times Bulletin (Van Wert, Ohio) June 20, 1972 

Grover Hill – Mrs. Arcia Stahlman, 79, of Grover Hill, died at 9;08 pm Monday in Paulding County Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. Born July 14, 1892, in Schoharie County near Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of Lewis and Emma (Day) Cole. She married Jeremiah Stahlman in 1913. He died in 1945.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth of St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Louise Stahlman of Grover Hill; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A sister and a son are deceased. Mrs. Stahlman was a member of the Friends Church in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at the Didrick-Taylor Funeral Home in Grover Hill with the Rev. Paul Miller of Van Wert, to officiate. Burial will be in the Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill. Friends may call after 7 pm today at the funeral home.

430. Thomas Brzezinski from The Derrick, December 18, 2008

Thomas Brzezinski, 87, of Oil City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at home surrounded by his family after an extended illness. Born Dec 4, 1921, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Gilwa Brzezinski. He graduated from Oakland School in Dempseytown.

He was married Jan. 21, 1950, to the former Mary Stahlman, who survives. Mr. Brzezinski was a 4th class technical sergeant in the Army in World War II, and he was stationed in Europe. He was employed by Bittenbenders, Slesnicks and Weaver Chevrolet as an auto mechanic, and he was also self-employed as a TV repairman. He was also employed by Conair for 23 years as foreman of the electric shop, where he retired in 1989.

Mr. Brzezinski was a member of St. Stephen Church and was also a member of the PNA club. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, repairing things around the house and doing things for others. He loved listening to his Polish polka music on Sunday mornings. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Brzezinski is survived by five children, Stephen Brzezinski, Janet Brzezinski and Cindy Brzezinski, all of Oil City; Melissa Mathis and her husband, Stephon, of Pittsburgh; and Julie Malone and her husband, Mitch, of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jilleane Brzezinski of Oil City; Elijah and Josiah Mathis of Pittsburgh, and Madalyn, Trinity, Savanna, Tanner and Gavin Malone of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brzezinski was preceded in death by four brothers, John Brzezinski, Frank Brzezinski, Ed Brzezinski and Tony Brzezinski; and three sisters, Lottie Formanik, Pauline Mylarski and Mary Dongilli.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Morrison Funeral Home in Oil City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St Stephen Church with the Rev. OAKLAND - Jacqueline M. Hillebrecht, 83, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.

Born May 1, 1924, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Clyde E. and Waneta V. (Clark) Stahlman. She was also preceded in death by her aunt, Naomi Snyder, who raised her; two brothers, Francis and Clarence Stahlman. Jacqueline was a graduate of Allegany High School and was Catholic by faith.

Surviving are her children, James Hillebrecht of Phoenix, Ariz. and Waneta R. "Cuddy" Crabtree and husband Terry of Davidsonville; grandchildren, Brian Crabtree of Philadelphia, Kevin Crabtree and wife Jill of Tampa Fla., Kristen Hillebrecht, Brian Kunis and Korey Lowery all of Cumberland; and a great granddaughter, Brooke Crabtree.

LAVALE — Violet Carl, 98, of LaVale, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at her residence.

She was born April 21, 1910, in Warren, Pa., to the late George Otis and Grace (Stahlman) Stoup. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Arnold Stroup, Otis “June” Stroup, Glenn Stroup, Faye Stroup and Ira Stroup; and two sisters, Pauline Easton and Mary Jane Stewart. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Carl was a 50-plus year member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church, was a member of the Civic Club, the Daughters of the Nile and the “Lunch Bunch” from Keyser. She worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s business, Penn-Mar Motors, for many years.

Her husband Urner, who survives, was married to “His Little Flower,” Violet, 66 years ago on an Army base in Sioux Falls, S.D. by an Army chaplain. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, William Stewart; and a sister-in-law, Almeda “Pete” Stroup; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two special angels, Susan Houser and Kim Lehman.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Funeral Service, P.A., Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Centre Street United Meth-odist Church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday. Ralph A. Mohney, 82, of 7902 Moore Ave., North Apollo, died yesterday (June 18, 1981) at 6:30 am in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He was born Jan. 27, 1899, in Reynoldsville, a son of Charles A. and Katherine Mowrey Mohney, and lived most of his life in the Vandergrift area.

Mr. Mohney was employed on the sheet floor at the Vandergrift plant of United States Steel until retiring in 1951. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Vandergrift and a former member of the Apollo Elks. He was also an avid golfer.

Survivors include a son, James R. of Stow, Ohio; two daughters, Louise Morrow of Vero Beach, Fla., and Barbara Kepple, with whom he lived; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Vandergrift; and two sisters, Marie DeWitt of Tarentum and Alma Adams of Zelienople. He was preceded in death by his wife, Belva Jack Mihney, in October 1968; two brothers, Floyd and Kenneth; and a sister, Elsie Rearick.

Doris L. Shick, 81, Punxsutawney, a guest at Wellington Heights, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Gaskill Township, a daughter of the late Clifford and Zelma (Himes) Muth.

Mrs. Shick was married to Jacob C. Shick, who preceded her in death June 17, 1976. She retired from J-S Accounting after many years and continued working with her daughter as part owner of the Playroom Children's Clothing Shop.

Surviving relatives include a son, William D. Shick of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Shera Hetrick and husband Richard of Punxsutawney and Susan Wood and husband Charles of Denver, N.C.; a sister, Evelyn Fink of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Ashley Hetrick, Andrew Vasbinder, Adam Vasbinder, Jacob Shick and Stephanie Shick; and a great-grandchild, Kasey Prescott.

Mrs. DeWitt was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum.

He was born in Porter Township, Clarion County, March 4, 1897, a son of Thomas P. and Susannah V. Stahlman Bowersox. He was married to the former Naomi Floy Shook September 17, 1918. She is deceased. He is survived by two sons, Dean and Merle Bowersox, four daughters, Mrs. Laird (Viola) Shumaker, Mrs. John (Grace) Milliron, Mrs. Atney (Ruth) Dickerson and Mrs. James (Lois) Stewart, 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Walter Bowersox. Interment in the Churchville Lutheran Cemetery.

Henry C. Bowersox, 79, of New Bethlehem RD 3, died yesterday at Brookville Hospital after being confined to the hospital for a week. Born July 19, 1894 at Porter Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Thomas and Susanah (Stahlman) Bowersox. He was married to Alba (Cox) Bowersox on February 24, 1915 at Curllsville. A farmer by occupation, he lived in the New Bethlehem area his entire life and since 1933 owned and operated his own school bus line known as Bowersox Bus Service. Mr. Bowersox was a member of Leatherwood Presbyterian Church of Porter Township and was a charter member of New Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Company. He belonged to the New Bethlehem Lions Club, Leatherwood Anti-horse Thief Association of Clarion County, and was a Democratic committeeman in Porter Township for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alba (Cox) Bowersox; two sons, Thomas M. Bowersox of New Bethlehem RD 3 and Ralph R. Bowersox of Clarion; two daughters, Mrs. Helen M. Edder and Mrs. Darl (Pearl) Minich, both of New Bethlehem RD 3; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and two brothers, Blaine M. Bowersox of New Bethlehem and Walter R. Bowersox of South Bethlehem. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

BRADFORD – Chester L. Hannah, 53, of 35 Lake Circle Drive, Bradford, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bradford Hospital at 2:30 am Tuesday. Born in Showers, January 24, 1921, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Maggie Stahlman Hannah, and on May 10, 1947 married the former Doris Uhl, who survives. Mr. Hannah attended schools in James City and during World War II served with the US Army in Germany.

Mr. Hannah lived in Bradford for the past 16 years and was employed as production supervisor with the Airco-Speer Electronics Co. in Bradford. He was also a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Bradford.

Surviving in addition to his widow are one son, Larry Hannah of Bradford; two daughters, Sharon Hannah, who lives at home, and Mrs. Donna Garin also of Bradford; one grandson, and three brothers, Carl Hannah of Bradford, Ralph Hannah of Shippenville, and George Hannah of Knox.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday in the Cahill Funeral Home in Bradford where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 am Thursday. Rev Theodore Schaffer, pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the McKean Memorial Park in Lafayette, Pa.

440. Mervin C. "Peanut" Schuckers, 90 from the Punxsutawney Spirit May 15, 2007

Mervin C. "Peanut" Schuckers, 90, of Brookville (Emerickville), died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at DuBois Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 29, 1916, a son of the late Charles King and Elsie Alberta Mottern Schuckers. Sept. 27, 1946, he married M. Arlene Brosius, who preceded him in death March 20, 2006.

Mr. Schuckers was a veteran of World War II, having served as a platoon sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, 9th Defense Battalion, in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. He was a journeyman, electrician and foreman for electrical construction. Mr. Schuckers was a member of I.B.E.W. for 55 years, enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, traveling in his motorhome, hunting, fishing and the outdoors and spending time with his family.

Surviving relatives include four daughters, Janis D. Kupetz and husband James of Erie, Shirley A. Riddle and husband David of Seneca, Debra S. Koladish of Cooperstown and Melissa J. Buck and husband Mark of Brookville; two sons, Terry L. Schuckers and wife Carol and Douglas M. Schuckers, all of Brookville; and 10 grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Homer Arnold Schuckers; and two sisters, Alberta Marie Burkett Tharp and Dorothy Viola Burkett.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville. CLARION – Dr. William D. Stahlman, 51, of Marlison, Wis., a professor at the University of Wisconsin and a former faculty member at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University, died at his residence Thursday (March 27, 1975). A native of Clarion, he was born May 27, 1923, a son of Dr. Harry E. and Myrtle Jolly Stahlman. He graduated from Clarion High School in 1941, later from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was awarded a Ph.D. from Brown University.

He was teaching the history of science at the University of Wisconsin at the time of his death. Dr. Stahlman was national administrator of the Scrutineers Sports Cars of America. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife, the former Rita Byrnes of Madison; two sons, Mark Stahlman of New York City and Kent Stahlman of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter Mary Lou Stahlman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.,; his mother, Mrs. Harry E. Stahlman of Brownsville, Texas; a sister, Mrs. A. E. Kunselman of Indiana, Pa., and a brother, Dr. Robert K. Stahlman of Dallas Texas.

442. Dr. Harry Earl Stahlman from The Oil City Derrick, August 6, 1956 Dr. Stahlman Dies In Texas and The Clarion Democrat, August 7, 1956

CLARION  - Dr. Harry E. Stahlman died Friday August 3, in Brownsville, Tex. He was born in Clarion, the son of Aaron and Kathryn Kletser Stahlman. In June 1913 he was married to the former Myrtle Jolly who survives. Dr. Stahlman was a member of the Clarion Methodist Church and transferred his membership to the Methodist Church in Brownsville when he moved to that city.

He was a past master of the Clarion Blue Lodge, a past high priest of the Eden Chapter, a member of the Coudersport Consistory, the Zem Zem Temple of Erie, a past president of the American Osteopathic Society of Herniologists and a past president on the Clarion Kiwanis Club. A graduate of the DeMoines, Iowa, Osteopathic College in 1917, Dr. Stahlman did post-graduate work in Philadelphia in 1918. He was the first osteopathic physician in Clarion where he practiced for 32 years. He moved to Brownsville in 1950.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Stahlman of Brownsville, Tex., one daughter, Mrs. A. E. Kunselman of Indiana, Pa., and two sons, William D. of Boston, Mass., and Dr. R. K. of Irving, Tex. One sister, Mrs. Nellie Johnson of Pittsburgh, one brother, Miles of Leonia, N.J., and seven grad-children also survive. Two sons preceded him in death. The body is in the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion where services will be held at 4 p.m. today (Tuesday) by the Rev. Ralph W. Richardson.  Interment will be made in the Clarion cemetery, with Masonic services being held at graveside.

Funeral services for Milton G. Stahlman who died Wednesday (July 15, 1959)in his home at Oil City RD 2, will be held at 2 pm Sunday in the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home. Rev. Russell E. Lewis of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Park, Mr. Stahlman, 67, was employed by Oil Well Supply Co.

Born is Fisher, Pa., July 28, 1891, he was a son of Clinton and Ella Copenhaver Stahlman. Mr. Stahlman had been employed by Oil Well for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the CIO, Local 2016 of Oil Well, Mr. Stahlman is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jarzenski and six sons and one daughter. William, Donald, Raymond and Robert all of Oil City; Charles of Erie; Wayne of Youngstown, Ohio; and Mrs. David (Winifred) Jennings of El Cajon, Calif. Also surviving are five brothers; Glade, Roy and Donald Stahlman of Oil City; Ed Dean Stahlman of Stowe, Ohio; and Charles Stahlman of Rushville, NY.; and 18 grandchildren.

 CLARION – Mrs. Kate Noblit, 89, widow of J. C. Noblit, died at 11:30 pm Saturday (December 7, 1968) in Brookville. Mrs. Noblit had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. A.L. Whisner of Shippenville RD. Born January 13, 1879, at Dean’s Dam, Millcreek Township, Clarion County, Mrs. Noblit was a daughter of Addison and Ella Copenhaver Dean. She was married December 25, 1894, to J. C. Noblit. He died in 1958.

 Mrs. Noblit was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion and the Women’s Association and a circle of the church. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Archie (Leola) Whisner of Shippenville RD; a son, Lloyd Dean Noblit of Clarion; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Mrs. Jesse Hipwell of Oil City, and four half-brothers, Glade, Roy and Don Stahlman of Oil City and Charles Stahlman of Middlesex, N.Y.. Two sons, William D and Edgar, are deceased.

Charles K. Schuckers, retired farmer of Brookville, RD 1, died Sunday, November 26, 1967 at the Maple Avenue Hospital in DuBois. He had been ill three weeks. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 29 at 2 pm at Ober Funeral Home in Reynoldsville. The Rev. R. B. Brooks and the Rev. Fred Stanton officiated. Interment was in Lakelawn Cemetery.

Born in Pinecreek Township on December 31, 1894 he was the son of Homer G. and Mary (Snyder) Schuckers. He was married to Elsie Mottern. Mr. Schuckers was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife and three children; Mrs. Alberta Tharp, of Brookville RD 1; Mervin Schuckers, of Brookville, RD 1; and Homer Schuckers, of Reynoldsville.

Thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive as do four brothers and sisters; Ralph, of Punxsutawney, RD 3; Ernest, of Gary, Ind.; Rev. Herbert Schuckers, of Knightstown, Ind., and Mrs. Cora Brown, of Butler.

She was born at Fisher, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Clinton Stahlman, and had resided at Clarion for the past 30 years, She married Albert Hulings on May 15, 1904.

Surviving are 10 children: Clyde, Clair, Fred, Willis, Edgar, Kenneth, Russell, Paul and Betty Jane, all of Clarion; and Mrs. Fred McFadden, of Lorain, O. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. J. C. Noblet and Mrs. F. T. Watson of Clarion; Mrs. Edward Dean of Akron, O.; Charles Stahlman of Middlesex, N.Y.; Mrs. Harry Geer, Mrs. Sidney Graybill, Milton, Roy, Glade and Donald Stahlman of Oil City.

CLARION – Clair Clinton Hulings, 59, of Clarion, a former semi-pro baseball and  basketball player, died at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday in Brookville Hospital. Born August 29, 1909, at Marienville, he was the son of Albert B. and Maude A. Stahlman Hulings. He was married January 23, 1947, to the former Jean Marle Luzart, who survives.

Mr. Hulings had worked for 44 years for Owens-Illinois. He was employed as a machine operator. For eight years, he had played semi-pro sports in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Hulings was a member of the Clarion United Methodist Church, The Quarter Century Clue and Golden Emblem of Owens-Illinois and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 101 of Clarion.

In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by two daughters, the Misses Sheriel Jean and Barbara Ann Hulings, both at home; and son, Daryle Clair Hulings, with the U. S. Air Force in Wiesbaden, Germany; two sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Lucille) Snyder of Lorain, Ohio, and Mrs. Carl (Betty Jane) Durante of Fallston, Md.; and three brothers, Edgar and Fred Hulings of Knox and Willis Hulings of Clarion. He was married September 16, 1942, to Elizabeth Facemyer. He was employed as a laborer. He was a member of the Clarion Methodist Church. CLARION – Russell Thomas Hulings, 39, of Curllsville and a resident of Clarion for a number of years, died at 5 a.m. Friday at the home of his mother-in-law, Hertha Barger of Rimersburg RD 1, following a lingering illness. Born in Clarion September 27, 1924, he was the son of Albert and Maude Stahlman Hulings. He was married August 4, 1944, to the former Rachel Barger of Curllsville. Mr. Hulings had been self-employed in the re-upholstering trade for a number of years. He was a member of the Greenville Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six brothers, Clyde of DePew, N.Y.; Clair and Willis of Clarion; Fred and Edgar of Knox; and Paul of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Luella) McFadden of Lorrain, Ohio, and Mrs. Carl (Betty) J. Durante of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. One brother, Kenneth Hulings of Clarion is deceased, as is a sister, Pauline, who died in infancy. M. Ruth Smith Stahlman, 91, of Billings, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 at Miletree Center. She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Andrew McNeil and Maude Butcher Smith. She was a 1934 graduate of Spencer High School and a homemaker. She served as a secretary and clerk for Beech Grove Church. She was also a member of Women’s Society of Christian Services.

She is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Randolph of Billings and Peggy Sue Gandee of Crystal Lake, Ill.; two sons, Paul Franklin of Ripley and John David of Duck; two sisters, Gail Ullom and Stacel Scott, both of Spencer; one brother, Charles Smith of Spencer; and 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Big John” Stahlman; two brothers, Jarrett and Kester Smith; and one sister, Alice Batten. Service was Friday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery.

454. William Lawrence Purvis from The Ames Daily Tribune, Ames, Iowa, May 10, 1954

William Lawrence Purvis, youngest son of Elijah and Dany? Purvis, was born April 18, 1884, on a farm in Union Township, seven miles southeast of Ames and died at the Story County Hospital in Nevada, April 29, 1954. He was 70 years and 11 days old. He lived most of his life in the Walnut Grove community where he attended school and church. He was united in marriage to Minnie Rebecca Stahlman, May 12, 1907, on the farm where they continued to live. Eight children were born to them, two of whom, infant daughters, preceded him in death.

In 1937, because of failing health, Mr. Purvis moved from the farm to Medvale, where he operated a store and moved to Cambridge in 1938. Besides his wife, Minnie, six children survive: Mable Seversen of Nevada; Elsie Purvis of Ames; Sadie Miner of Anamosa; Bessie Kitchen of Nevada; Owen Purvis of the U.S. Navy at Pensacola, Fla.; and Robert Purvis of the U.S. Army, Devans, Mass.; also there are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Orange and Theodore, and two sisters, Molly and Civille, preceded him in death. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Sibina Bates of Ames and Mrs. Julia Woodward of Calendar, and one brother, Garfield Purvis of Ames.

Homer A. Schuckers, 81, 6531 Route 322, Reynoldsville, died Sunday at his home. Born Nov. 26, 1922, in Pine Creek Township, he was the son of the late Charles King and Elsie A. Mottern Schuckers. He was married to Dorothy B. Dinger Schuckers April 15, 1948, in Reynoldsville. She survives. He served in the U.S. Army as a Pfc. During World War II. He worked as a clay carrier for 16 years for the former Jackson China before retiring. He was a Methodist by faith.

He is also survived by two sons, Larry Schuckers and Thomas Schuckers, both of Reynoldsville; one daughter, Victoria Zimmerman of Reynoldsville; one brother, Mervin C. Schuckers of Brookville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one grandson; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters.

SEBASTIAN, Fla. - Burl S. Schuckers, 80, 325 Pineapple St., a former Reynoldsville resident died Wednesday at his home. He was born Feb 15, 1915 in Brookville, a son of the late Lawrence and Mabel Stewart Schuckers. He was married to Clara Syphrit Schuckers in 1937. She survives.

He was a retired coal miner and manager of the Wayne Feed Store. He also operated the Schuckers Chicken Farm, RD Reynoldsville, until moving to Florida in 1979 where he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of Sebastian Methodist Church and the Reynoldsville Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of the International order of Odd Fellows, Reynoldsville.

He is also survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Buhite of Reynoldsville and Sally L. Francois of Raleigh, N.C; a son Gerald L. Schuckers of Vero Beach Fla; a brother Burton W. E. Mae Schuckers, 93, Trout Run Road, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois. She was born April 3, 1914, in Knox Township, the daughter of the late John Oliver and Roxie LaRue (Snyder) Weaver. She was married to Ralph M. Schuckers, a farmer, who preceded her in death in 1991. She worked on the family farm with her husband and also attended the farmer’s market to sell produce raised by the family.

Mrs. Schuckers was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. She worked as a secretary for the First English Lutheran Church, served on the board of the church council for years and initiated the First English Lutheran Church Women’s organization. She enjoyed helping people, which included shut-ins, and she often drove others to church. She truly enjoyed being the bookkeeper for Town & Country Lutheran Ministries. Mrs. Schuckers graduated with honors from DuBois Business College in 1958.

She was also a case worker for Jefferson County Assistance office and a secretary at Loree Shoe Factory. She was a teacher’s aide at Bell Township Elementary School, and she helped start the first PTA at the school.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Grant Montier Schuckers of Punxsutawney and Ohmar Doyle Schuckers and wife Charlotte of Big Run; a daughter, Mary Ann Patterson and husband William of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Weaver.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Raymond Sistek officiating. Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Township. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion/First English Lutheran Church, Gilpin Street, Punxsutawney. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenda D. Shumker Funeral Home Inc., Big Run.

Ralph M. Schuckers, 93, of Punxsutawney RD3 died Friday, July 19, 1991 at the Dubois Regional Medical Center West. He was a retired farmer and miner. Mr. Schuckers was born October 8, 1897 in Pine Creek Township, the son of Homer G. and Mary Ann (Snyder) Schuckers. He married the former Mae Weaver on May 29, 1934; she survives.  He was a member of the First English Lutheran church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Montier of Punxsutawney RD 3 and Doyle of Big Run; a daughter, Mary Ann Patterson of West Point, Va.; a brother Ernest DeHaven Schuckers of Gary, Ind.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Lawrence, Charles and Herbert and a sister Cora Brown.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney with the Rev. David Saylor officiating. Interment was in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

Clara (Stahlman) (Shoemaker) Leach, 83, of 204 Goodrich St., Erie, a former New Bethlehem resident, died at 1 pm Tuesday (June 11, 1957) at Hamot Hospital, Erie. Mrs. Leach was born Oct. 23, 1873 in Porter Township, Clarion County, a daughter of Daniel and Sophia (Ferringer) Stahlman. She was married to Taylor Leach of new Castle, Ind., who preceded her in death 20 years ago

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Case of Erie; a brother, Clee Stahlman of Clarion RD; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Leach was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Castle, Ind.

Friends are being received at Reitz funeral home, New Bethlehem. Services will be held at 2 pm Friday in the funeral home. The Rev. Herbert Bish, a Methodist minister, will officiate. Burial will be made in New Bethlehem cemetery.

Brockway — Robert H. "Bob" Schuckers, 76, of 1110 Pershing Ave., Brockway, died Sunday at DuBois Regional Medical Center East. He was the retired owner of the Brockway Gulf Service Station. He was born 22 June, 1916 in Emerickville, the son of the late Lawrence Schuckers and Mabel Stewart. He was married to Gracie Markle. She survives.

A WWII veteran, he was a member of the Kiwanis, American Legion Post No. 95, and the Brockway Sportsmen's Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Pat Mahaffey of Brockport; two brothers, Burl Schuckers of Sebastian, Fla. and Burton Schuckers of Bangor, Maine. Interment Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

Grace M. Schuckers of 1110 Pershing Avenue died May 27, 1994 at the Dubois Regional Medical Center-West. She was 77 years of age. Mrs. Schuckers was born on September 29, 1916, the daughter of Henry M. and Sallie (Hall) Markle. She married Robert H. Schuckers who preceded his wife in death. She was a member of the Brockway Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Mahaffey of Brockport, a grandson and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a trustee of the Brockway Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation was at the Carlson Funeral Home in Brockway where services were held on Monday with the rev. Daniel Little officiating. Interment was in the Lakelawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

D. Stahlman Dies At 68 In Hospital

Donald C. Stahlman, 68, of ½ Pearl Ave., died at 9:15 am Saturday (July 28, 1973) in the Franklin hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born August 24, 1904, in Clarion County a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. (Charles) Clinton Stahlman. He attended Clarion and Cranberry schools.

Mr. Stahlman was married to the former Mary Lytle in 1927 at The Help of Christians Church in Oil City. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 50 years and, at the time of his retirement in 1969, was crew dispatcher. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks and Trainmen. Surviving are his wife, Mary, one son, Joseph Stahlman of Oil City, two brothers, Orlando Stahlman and Roy Stahlman, both of Oil City, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son, Donald Jr. preceded him in death in 1966.

Removal was made to the Joseph Reinsel Funeral Home where friends may call anytime after 10 am. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and to 9 pm today. There will be a mass of the Resurrection at 10 am Tuesday at St. Joseph Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Funeral Plans Pending For Army Sergeant, Wife

Funeral arrangements are not yet completed for Master Sgt. Donald L. Stahlman and his wife, Mrs. Fredesvinda (Brenda) Stahlman, who were killed Tuesday afternoon (September 13, 1966) near Grove City. Arrangements are in charge of the Joseph Reinsel Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 pm today.

Sergeant Stahlman, Army Air Force career man, was born September 28, 1928, in Oil City, a son of Donald and Mary Lytle Stahlman. He attended St. Joseph School. He enlisted in February 1948 and had completed about four year’s service in the Philippines only recently before being granted his leave. He and his wife and their son, Donald, were en route home from Manila when Sergeant and Mrs. Stahlman were killed along with Sergeant Stahlman’s uncle, Harry R. Lytle Jr.

Newspaper files show that Sergeant Stahlman was named outstanding non-commissioned officer of the year in the Air Force Advisory Group to the Republic of Korea. The honor was conferred on him for his exemplary conduct and performance of duty.

He was married in 1949 to the former Fredesvinda (Brenda)  M. Pabalon of Calamba Lunga, The Philippines. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stahlman Sr. of Oil City; his son Donald Stahlman Jr.; a brother, Joseph, stationed at Griffith Air Force Base in Rome, NY. Mrs. Stahlman is survived by two sisters and three brothers and her son Donald. Funeral arrangements will be announced.

Stahlman - Limestone Resident Dies

Albert Clair Stahlman, of Limestone, NY, and a former resident of Oil City, died Wednesday (October 2, 1974) in his home. Mr. Stahlman was born October 19, 1913, in Clarion County, a son of Charles E. and Jenny Edna Baum Stahlman. He would have been 61 on his birthday this month.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Hughes Stahlman, formerly of Franklin; two sons, Albert Clair Stahlman Jr. of Bradford, Charles Paul Stahlman of Limestone, NY; a daughter, Mrs. Darleen Willoughby of Limestone; five grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Lawrence Stahlman of North Tonawanda, NY, Russell Stahlman of Oil City; and four sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Ida Marie) Downing of Rouseville; Mrs. Claude (Bird) Moore of Oil City; Mrs. Dave (Lorraine) McCauley of Seneca; and Mrs. James (Shirley) Harper of Oil City. One brother, Paul William, died in a Japanese prison camp during World War II.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm tomorrow in the Chock-Chantly Funeral Home in Bradford.

Mrs. Stahlman Succumbs Today

Mrs. Jennie Edna Stahlman, 56, of 139 High St., died at 10:45 am today following a years illness. She was born on Jan. 8, 1895, a daughter of the late Charles and Ida Baum. Mrs. Stahlman was educated in the Fisher schools.

In 1913, she was married to Charles Stahlman, who preceded her in death on August 27, 1947. She came to Oil City in 1930 and has made her home here ever since. She was a member of the Salvation Army.

Surviving are the following children: Clair of Limestone, NY, Charles of Towanda, NY, Mrs. Ida Downing of Rouseville, Mrs. Claude Moore and Mrs. Lorraine McCauley of Oil City and Russell and Shirley at home. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and a brother James Baum of Strattonville. The body was taken to the Crawford funeral home where Friends will be received. Interment was made in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Stahlman Dies Friday In Hospital

Mrs. Alice Frances Stahlman, 57, of Van RD 1, wife of Roy D. Stahlman and a retired employee of the General Telephone Company, died unexpectedly at 2 am Friday (July 5, 1963) in the Oil City Hospital. Mrs. Stahlman was a former operator for the General Telephone Company, retiring in 1956.

She was born Sept. 15, 1905, in Oil City, a daughter of John G. and Mary McMahon Reid. She was married to Roy D. Stahlman in June, 1955. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Winifred R. Walker, Mrs. Thomas J. (Veronica) Welsh and Mrs. Richard (Marcella) Jolley, all of Oil City; two nieces and three nephews.

Friends will be received in the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home anytime. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm today and Sunday. Mrs. Stahlman Dies Sunday At Residence

Mrs. Emma F. Stahlman of 1134 E. Second St., who operated the Knox Restaurant for a number of years before moving to Oil City in 1929, died in her home Sunday (September 3, 1972) at approximately 3 pm following a sudden illness. She was born in Knox, a daughter of Samuel E. and Sarah Logue Alt. She graduated from Knox High School.

Mrs. Stahlman was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and the Alpha Delta Sunday School Class. Surviving are a son, Carl Alt of Oil City, and a sister, Mrs. Verna Burns, also of Oil City. Four brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Friends may call anytime today at the Louis H. Osenider Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday. Rev. Paul Smith, pastor of the Calvary United Methodist Church, will officiate, Interment will be in St. Paul Union Cemetery at Knox.

James Reid Stahlman, 54, of 4760 Pare Lane, Trenton, Mich., an area native, died Tuesday (December 30, 1986) at his residence. Born January 21, 1932, in Renfrew, he was a son of J. Reid and Edna Berlin Stahlman. He married the former Connie Mae Shuler on June 1, 1956. She survives. He was graduated in 1950 from Emlenton High School. Mr. Stahlman was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Stahlman was a foreman for Edwin Levy Co.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are: two sons, Roger Stahlman of Trenton, Mich., and Dennis Stahlman of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Teresa) Sinel of Austell, Ga; his stepmother Amanda Stahlman McGinnis of Emlenton; two brothers, Robert D. Stahlman of Wellsville, NY., and Leland D. Stahlman of Port Allegany; and two grandchildren, Travis and Melanie Sinel of Austell, Ga. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1932 and his father in 1980.

Eva Marjorie “Marge” Miller, 85, of 2161 SR 157, Oil City, Pinegrove Township, went to be with her Lord at 2:48 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 30, 1923, in Kyogle, Australia, she was a daughter of the late James Harold and Emily Edith Cameron Lees. She was married in 1945, in Australia, to Harold William Miller, who preceded her in death June 9, 2003.

Mrs. Miller and her husband owned and operated Miller’s Meat Market for more than 30 years. They also operated the Midway Tasty Freeze. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Seneca Evangelical Congregational Church, where she helped with the church missionaries and attended the widows’ luncheons. She loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed the outdoors. Mrs. Miller was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Miller is survived by three sons, Lee William Miller and his wife, Cindi, of Oil City, James Harold Miller and his wife, Becky, of Oil City, and David Eugene Miller and his wife, Karen, of Seneca; two daughters, Susan Diane Bickel and her husband, Tim, of Fertigs, and Teresa Marjorie Stahlman and her husband, Jeffrey, of Oil City; seven grandchildren, Todd William Miller of Cranberry, Megan Beichner of President, Andrew Miller, Tammy Miller, Brian Miller, Emily Stahlman and Luke Stahlman; all of Oil City; and five great- grandchildren, Logan William Miller and Cassidy Lee Miller, both of Cranberry; Kenzie Beichner and Kaylyn Beichner, both of President; and Conner Miller of Oil City. Mrs. Miller is also survived by a brother, Ernest Lees of Australia; and two sisters, Gwen Gardiner and May Grieve both of Australia.

Charles C. Smith, 88, of Spencer died Tuesday, Sept 2, 2008 at the Holzer Senior Care Center in Gallipolis, Ohio, after a short illness. He was born near Reedy, a son of the late Andrew and Maude Butcher Smith. He was a carpenter, manager of Spencer Appliance and was owner of Charles C. Smith Floor Covering and Kitchens. He was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II with the 8th Air Force, serving in Iceland and England.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Erline Crislip Smith; a daughter, Sherry Wallbrown of Point Pleasant; a sister, Gail Ullom of Spencer; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Batten, Ruth Stahlman and Stacle Scott; and two brothers, Jarrett and Kester “Dick” Smith.

Stacle “Bea” Smith Scott, 85, of Spencer, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Roane General Hospital.

She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Andy and Maude Butcher Smith. She worked for G.C. Murphy for 47 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer. She worked for Glen L. Martin Aircraft Company, Baltimore, during World War II.

She is survived by one sister, Gail Ullom of Spencer; and one brother, Charles Smith of Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Scott; two sisters, Alice Batten and Ruth Stahlman; and two brothers, Jarrett and Kester “Dick” Smith. Steve - I just found the obit for William Franklin Himes (4/22/1872-1/12/1925) married Amanda Smith  on 9/21/1900 in Coolspring.  His parents are Jesse and Sara (Boddorf) Himes.  He also has a couple of sisters Emma Stahlman (husband's name not given) and Lavilla Reitz (there again no husband's name).  Now the question is who are the parents of Jesse? – Chris O.

William Franklin Himes, R.D.1, Mayport, died of pneumonia at his home at 3:30 am on January 12 aged 52 years, 8 months, and 21 days; he had only been ill about five days. Mr. Himes was a son of Jesse and Sara (Boddorf) Himes and was born April 22, 1872.  He was married to Amanda Smith, of Coolspring, September 21, 1900.  Formerly they lived in Shannondale, moving to Mayport only November 1 last; Mr. Himes has been a farmer all his life.

Mr. Himes is survived by his father, his step-mother, his wife and six of his seven children- Mrs. Sarah Wise, Mayport; Mary,Mervin, Paul, Grace, and John, at home; a daughter died in infancy.  Surviving sisters are Mrs. Emma Stahlman and Mrs. Lavilla Rietz, both of Coolspring.

He was a member of Paradise Evangelical Church and his funeral services were conducted by the Rev. T. B. Murphy, with interment in the adjoining graveyard.  The pallbearers were A. C. Klepfer, James Himes, Frank Ferringer, E. D. McMasters of Paradise; L. M. Klepfer and Henry Gruber, of Hawthorne.

Donald Jesse Maul, 57, was born October 21, 1912, in Oil City, the son of Harry T. and Minnie M. Flickinger Maul. He was married on March 8, 1936, to the former Elizabeth Lucille Stahlman. Mr. Maul was owner and operator of the Midway hardware on Route 66 north of Clarion and was a member of the United Church of Christ at Frogtown. He served as an elder in the church and was also a member of the choir.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William (Donna) Crawford of Transfer; two sons, H. Charles (Lou) Maul and William Douglas Maul, both at home; one sister, Miss Pearl Maul of Oil City; four brothers, Ted Maul of Clarion, Clair Maul of Sharon, Arnold Maul of Sharpsville and Clifford Maul of Dallas, Tex.; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Elizabeth Lucille Stahlman Maul, 56, was born December 26, 1913, at Falls Creek, the daughter of Charles Oscar and Florence Moore Stahlman. She was married March 8, 1936, to Donald Jesse Maul. Mrs. Maul was a member of the United Church of Christ at Frogtown, the women’s guild of the church, the women’s auxillary of the Frogtown Fire Department, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Colonists.

SHE ALSO SERVED as church organist for many years and was active in the American Red Cross. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William (Donna) Crawford of Transfer; two sons, H. Charles (Lou) Maul and William Douglas Maul, both at home; her mother, Mrs. Florence Stahlman of Clarion; one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Anne Kathryn) George of Clarion; two brothers, Dale Moore Stahlman of Jamestown RD 1 and Darrell Charles Stahlman of New Bethlehem; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother; W. Pershing Stahlman.

Dale LaRue Moore, 59, of 156 Wayne St, Oil City, died at 6:18 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 9, 1949, in Oil City, he was a son of Claude E. and Genevieve V. Stahlman Moore. Mr. Moore was a graduate of Oil City High School. On June 14, 1975, he married the former Becky L. Frantz, who survives. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Moore attended the Oil City First Church of God. He was a lifelong believer with an unwavering faith in the Lord.

Mr. Moore was an avid outdoorsman and he loved working with kids, especially in the outdoors. He also loved to stock trout and was a co-chairman for the annual Oil Heritage Festival fishing derby. He worked many years at Oilwell and spent the last 20 years at Hodge Foundry in Greenville. Mr. Moore loved his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Moore is survived by two sons, Michael A. Moore of Oil City and Bradley A. Moore and his wife, Kristy, of Oil City; four grandchildren, Cody Moore, Althea Moore, Jasmine Moore and Jade Moore; his father, Claude Moore of Oil City; and five siblings, Karen Reed and her husband, James, of Lawton Okla., Bob Moore of Reno, Dan Moore of Oil City, Gary Moore and his wife, Lori, of Oil City, and Debbie Nicols of Spotsylvania, Va.

He is also survived by his father-in-law, Dick Frantz of Franklin; brothers and sisters-in-law Debbie Covington of Sugarcreek, Rick Frantz of Franklin, Ray Frantz and his wife, Kathy, of Greenville, and Pam Barnes and her husband, Chuck, of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve “Bird” Moore; his mother-in-law, Patricia “Patt” Frantz; and one grandchild.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Oil City First Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev. Brenda Snedden and Majors Jim and Sue Foley officiating. Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery. The Morrison Funeral Home in Oil City is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral services for Sidmore S. Graybill, who died Friday (January 7, 1949) in his home, were conducted at 3:15 pm Monday in the home at 506 North St. with Rev. B. H. Mead, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. During the services Mrs. Vern Dolby sang the hymns “In the garden” and Where the Gates Swing Outward”. Pallbearers at interment services in Grove Hill cemetery were Stanley Guyda, Joe Rathsburg, Ross Atwell, Frank Adelspetger, Frank Henderson, John Starton, Harold Shealg, and Henry Fisher.

Roundup Rites Set Saturday

ROUNDUP - Funeral services for Mrs. Lucinda J. Sharp, 97, of Roundup will be held Saturday in Roberts Chapel with the Rev. R. N. Johnstone, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in New Miners Cemetery. Mrs. Sharp died Wednesday (February 10, 1960) of infirmities of age in a Roundup nursing home where she had been a resident several years.

She was born August 3, 1862, in Punxsutawney, Pa., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses S. Stahlman (sic – Ulysses was her brother, her father was Lewis Reed Stahlman). In 1883 she was married to John G. Sharp. They moved from Albert Lea, Minn., in 1940 to Billings where he died in 1943. Mrs. Sharp moved to Klein in 1949 to live with a son, Earl, until his death July 25, 1955. She is survived by two sons; A. L. Sharp of Great Falls and Roy Sharp of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Rites Are Today For Roundup Man

ROUNDUP – Funeral services for Earl C. Sharp, 67, who died in a Billings hospital Thursday morning (July 20, 1955), have been set for 4 pm Saturday in the Roberts Chapel in Roundup. Elder H. A. Schultz of the Billings Seventh-Day Adventist Church will conduct the rites and burial will be in the New Miners Cemetery in Roundup.

Sharp was born Jan. 26, 1888, in Albert Lea, Minn., a son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Sharp. In 1913 he came to Stockelt and was married to Lillie Matson in Roundup Aug. 16, 1915. He worked in a Roundup mine until 1921, then was employed by the Republic Coal Co. as master mechanic until his retirement in 1952.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lucinda Sharp of Klein; a son, N. C. Sharp of Roundup; a daughter, Mrs. Russell O. Glee of Newington, Conn.; two brothers, A. L. Sharp of Great Falls and Roy H. Sharp of Pueblo, Colo., and three grandchildren.

480. Frank R. Stahlman from The Butler Eagle, January 27, 1972

Frank R. Stahlman, 80, of Sugar Creek Township, Chicora RD 1, died at the Butler Veterans Administration Hospital at 7:50 pm yesterday (January 26, 1972). Born Dec. 21, 1891, he was the son of Benjamin and Christina Shumaker Stahlman.

He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, Chicora RD 1, and had served as the cemetery sexton for many years. He was an army veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Dierken-Ritzert American Legion Post 964 of Chicora and the Golden Age Club of Chicora. He was a retired farmer and before that had been employed by Koppers Company, Petrolia.

His wife, Ruth E. Carnahan Stahlman, died Dec. 5, 1962. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. A. E. (Betty) Stoops of West Sunbury RD 2, Alicia M. Stacey of Mt. Lebanon and Mrs. Robert (Marion) Heck of Chicora RD 4; two sons, Charles T. Stahlman of East Brady RD 1 and Richard R. of Chicora RD 1; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Stahlman of Newville, Pa; a brother, Phillip Stahlman of Tionesta; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Two sons, Terry (Sic – Harry) and Frank Jr., died in 1969, within two months of each other, and a brother and a sister also preceded him in death.

STAHLMAN – Friends of Frank R. Stahlman of Sugar Creek Township, Chicora, RD 1, who died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 1972, will be received at the Vensel Funeral Home, Chicora, from 7 to 9 pm Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday, and at the church for an hour before the services. 481. Richard R. Stahlman from the Butler Eagle, Monday, December 27, 1976

Richard R. Stahlman, 42, of Chicora RD 1, was found dead at 9:05 pm Friday (December 24, 1976) at his home. He died suddenly of a heart attack. Born Oct. 5, 1934, in Chicora, he was the son of Frank and Ruth Carnahan Stahlman.

He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, Chicora RD 1; Argyle Lodge 540, F and AM, of Chicora; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Calvin McGinnis Post of Parker; Petroleum Valley Men’s Bowling League, and the Paul W. Wood Post 7840 of Hilliards. He was employed by Witco Chemical Company of Petrolia. He had served with the US Navy from Dec. 16, 1959, to March 27, 1963.

Surviving are a daughter, Angela Rhea Stahlman of Chicora; three sisters, Mrs. Earl (Betty) Stoops of West Sunbury RD 2, Alicia M. Stacey of Allison Park, Mrs. Robert (Marion) Heck of Chicora RD 1; a brother, Charles T. Stahlman of East Brady RD 1; and a number of nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm today from Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, Chicora RD 1, with the Rev. Reinhold K. Weber, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Butler, officiating. Burial was made in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Harry L. (Tiny) Stahlman, 46, of Bell Avenue, Chicora, died at the family residence at 12:20 am today, after a short illness. Born in Donegal Township, Jan. 9, 1923, he was the son of Frank and the late Ruth Carnahan Stahlman.

Mr. Stahlman attended the First Methodist Church of Chicora. He was an overseas Army veteran of World War II, serving as a Technician Fifth Grade with the 35^th-12^th Ordnance Automotive Maintenance Company. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 7876, Dexter-LeRoy Donaldson Post of Chicora; and the United Steel Workers of America. He was employed as a conductor on the railroad crew at Pullman Standard, Butler.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Barclay Stahlman; his father, Frank R. Stahlman of Chicora RD 1; three sisters, Mrs. Earl (Betty) Stoops of West Sunbury, Alice Stahlman of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Robert (Marion) Heck of Chicora DR 1; three brothers, Frank J. Stahlman of Chicora RD 1, Charles T. of East Brady, and Richard R. of Karns City; and several nieces and nephews.

DEATH OF EARL BALLENTINE – A Bright Little Fello Falls a Victim to the Dread Disease, Diabetes

Earl Stahlman (Ballentine – “Stahlman was apparently his middle name), only son of G. A. and Mary Ballentine, died at their home in Brookville, February 15, aged nearly ten years. For over a year he suffered from diabetes during which time the best medical skill was employed and every known means used to check the disease but all to no purpose, and though death seemed inevitable yet its coming was sudden, he being sick only a few hours.

Earl was thoughtful beyond his years and his affectionate disposition endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. His life though short left an impress for good on those about him. This is the second time in two years that death has entered this home, Little Nellie, who was Earl’s constant companion while she lived, having died almost two years before, of the same disease.

May the parents not rejoice in the thought that their little ones, so strongly attached to each other in life, were not long separated by death and have met never to part again, and may they realize with the poet that:

Kenneth E Anderson, Sr., 76, Star Route Ridgway, Brandy Camp, died Thursday at his home. 

Born Aug 15, 1925, in Ringgold, he was a son of the late Norman and Wretha Young Anderson. He was married to Dorothy Hewitt. She preceded him in death. He was Methodist by faith. He was a retired coal miner and truck driver for Valley Coal Company. He served in the Army Air Force Base Unit during World War II. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching and raising all types of wildlife.

He is survived by three sons: John and Kenneth Anderson both of Ridgeway, and Arthur Anderson of Brockport; three daughters: Nancy Starr and Doris Calliari, both of Brockway, and Lisa Malcarne of Brandy Camp; two brothers, David and Carl Anderson both of Elbon; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one son, Edward Anderson; one brother, Richard N Anderson; and one grandson, Brian.

486. Jeffery W. Stahlman from the Clarion Democrat 12/8/1964

Funeral services were held for Jeffrey W. Stahlman, 15 of Oil City from the Buchanan and Schmidt Funeral Home. Rev. Adolph Kunen of the First Presbyterian Church officiated and interment was in the Franklin Cemetery.

Jeffrey died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 8, in the Franklin Hospital where he had been admitted Friday, Dec. 4. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Sept. 24, 1949, he was the son of George and Julu Buzard Stahlman. He was a ninth grade student at Franklin Junior High School.

Prior to moving to Franklin, the family resided in Youngstown where he was active in Little League baseball and in the Bollney Rogers Football League. Later the family moved to Charleston, S.C., where he was active in Pony League baseball. Jeffrey was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Sunday School of the church.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Buzard of Strattanville and a number of aunts and uncles.

487. Mrs. Joan Stahlman from The Clarion News 9/24/1974

Mrs. Joan Stahlman, 49, of Clarion, wife of Dr. Frederick B. Stahlman, died Sept. 21, 1974, in Franklin Hospital. Born Dec. 21, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Frank W. and Helen Kelly Whalen.  Her mother survives.  She was married June 20, 1945, to Dr. Stahlman.

Mrs. Stahlman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion and the Clarion Medical Auxiliary.  She was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two sons, Frederick B. II of Chicago and Jeffrey M. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Diane Fryman of Chestertown, Md.; one grandson, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ratz of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Mary Kee of North Hampton, N.H.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday (today) from the Gerald L. Goble Funeral Home in Clarion.  The Rev. William Kemp officiated and burial was in Clarion Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack and Richard Kroh, Bill Laughlin, Joseph Schierberl, E. I. Guither and James Russell.

488. Mrs. Myrtle Stahlman from the Clarion New 1/26/1982

Mrs. Myrtle Stahlman, 91, of Indiana, (Pa.), formerly of Clarion, died Thursday Jan. 31, 1982, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning. Born March 11, 1890, in Knox, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Thomas and Nannette Gardner Jolly.  She was married June 25, 1913, to Harry Earl Stahlman, who died in 1956.

Mrs. Stahlman and her family resided in Clarion for many years.  When her husband retired as an osteopathic doctor in Clarion, the family moved to Brownsville, Texas, where they were members of the Brownsville Methodist Church.  Following her husband’s death, she later moved to Indiana to reside with her daughter. While she lived in Clarion she was a member and past matron of the Clarion Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.  She had also been a member of the Clarion Woman’s Club and the United Methodist Women in Clarion.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Nannette Kunselman, of Indiana; one son, Robert K. of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Three sons, Harry Earl Jr., Dr. Donald Stahlman and William Stahlman, preceded her in death.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Gerald L. Goble Funeral Home in Clarion with the Rev. John K. Jefferies officiating.  Burial was in Clarion Cemetery.

489. Mrs. Jessie M. Stahlman from the Clarion News 9/26/1978

Mrs. Jessie M. Stahlman, 80, of Star Route Knox, died Saturday Sept. 23, 1978, in Clarion Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1897, at RD 1 Clarion, she was a daughter of the Edward and Alice Kirkwood George.  She was married March 30, 1918, to Fred L. Stahlman, who died in 1972. Mrs. Stahlman, who formerly resided at Limestone, was a member of the Limestone Baptist Church and the Missionary Society of the church.

Surviving are one son, Fred J. of Franklin; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Skinner of New Bethlehem, and one brother, Theo George of RD 1 Clarion. One daughter Mrs. Virginia Jeannerat, and two sons, David Eugene and Kenneth Earl, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday (today) from the Gerald L. Goble Funeral Home in Clarion with the Rev. Harold Comings officiating.  Burial was in Salem Cemetery at Frogtown.

490. Edward E. Stahlman from the Oil City Derrick (Oil City, Pennsylvania) January 12, 1948 (a son of George William and Susannah (Weckerly) Stahlman)

Edward E. Stahlman, 78, a retired oil lease worker, died at his home in Sugarcreek Sunday morning after a brief illness. He had been in ill health several years. Mr. Stahlman was born in the state of Illinois, June 27, 1888. He was formerly employed as a plumber on the E. E. Grimm oil leases and later was employed a number of years on the J. B. Smithman leases at Victory.

Mr. Stahlman never married. Surviving is a half-brother, Charles L. Fulmer of Sugarcreek. The body was removed to the L. L. Barger funeral home in Franklin where friends may call at any time.

491. Roscoe Lewis Stahlman from The Simpson’s Leader Times, Kittanning, Pa February 24, 1975

Roscoe Stahlman, 86, of 236 N. Main St., Slippery Rock, died at 7;55 pm Saturday in Grove City Hospital, following a short illness. He was a former welder for Allegheny River Mining Company and custodian at Slippery Rock State College until his retirement.

Born Oct 31, 1888 in Jefferson County, he was a son of Joseph and Electra (Lockwood) Stahlman. On Nov. 19, 1916 he married the former Eleanor Hansen, who survives him. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hazen of Pittsburgh; a son, Joseph of Slippery Rock; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Levi Schuckers, one of the best known farmers of Jefferson County, died at his home midway between this place and Brookville, on Thursday, February 26. He had been in failing health for some time and his death was not unexpected.

The funeral services were held at the Emerickville Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. J. L. Buck, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, and burial was made in the Emerickville cemetery. The large attendance fully attested the high esteem in which Mr. Schuckers was held by the entire community.

493. Elizabeth (Kroh) Schuckers – unknown newspaper May 30, 1923 Mrs. Elizabeth Schuckers, Dies at Home of Son

Mrs. Elizabeth Schuckers of Emerickville, died yesterday at the home of her son, Elmer Schuckers on Grant Street, Reynoldsville at the age of 79. The deceased was born in Northumberland County, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kroh and came to Emerickville with her parents when but a child.

United in marriage to Levi T. Shuckers who died three years ago. She was a member of the First M.E. Church af Emerickville and one of the best known and most highly respected women of that community. She is survived by the following sons and daughters; Elmer and K.C., Glenn, Lee and Mrs. L.O. Gourley. Interment Emerickville Cemetery.

“….Mrs. Elizabeth (Kroh) Schuckers was born July 2, 1844 in Pine Creek Township, a daughter of Jacob and Catherine (Haupt) Kroh, natives of Northumberland County, Penn., and early settlers of Jefferson County, where they spent their last years, the former dying in 1876, at the age of 75, and the latter in may 1872, at the age of 72. Both were consistent members of the Lutheran Church and very prominent in their community. Their remains were interred in the Brookville Cemetery. The father followed the occupations of farming and lumbering, and also operated a gristmill. His political support was given the men and measures of the republican party. Mrs. Schuckers is the youngest of 7 children, namely: Beneval, a retired farmer of Pine Creek township; Sarah, wife of Peter Baum, an agriculturist of the same township; Jacob, who is engaged in farming in Armstrong County, Penn., but is now deceased; Angeline, who married John B. Snyder, but both have passed away; Henry, a farmer, now deceased; Catherine J., wife of George Jordan, who is engaged in the hotel business in Perryville, Penn.; and Elizabeth (Mrs. Schuckers).

494. Ernest D. Schuckers from The Jefferson Democrat, March 21, 1996

Ernest D. “Sib” Schuckers of Elmhurt, Illinois, died Sunday, March 3, 1996. He was 94 years of age. Mr. Schuckers was born on February 24, 1902 in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County. He was the son of Homer O. (sic G.) and Mary (Snyder) Schuckers. He was a veteran having served with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Inland Steel with 48 years of service. He was a member of the Indiana Harbor Masonic Lodge No. 686, F&A.M. of Highland and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.

He is survived by: one daughter, Gladys (David) Parry of Elmhurst, Illinois; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his wife Gladys in 1988; four brothers, Lawrence (Benny), Charles, Ralph and Rev. Herbert Schuckers and one sister, Cora Brown.

 Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 6, 1996 at the Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel with Leroy Fassetto officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, Indiana.

KNIGHTSTOWN – Herbert L. Schuckers, 79, 176 Warrick St., Knightstown, was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday evening at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield after a brief illness. He was born in Jefferson County, Pa., Jan. 31, 1905, to Homer and Mary (Schneider) Schuckers. He was a retired United Methodist Church minister from the North Indiana Conference. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 16 F&AM and was also a member of the Knightstown Home Optimist Club. He is survived by his wife, LeVaughn; two sons, Phillip of Anderson and Homer of Fort Washington, Md.; two brothers, Ralph of Punxsutawney, Pa., and Haven of Griffith; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Knightstown with Pastor Bob McMillen officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Greene's Funeral Home in Knightstown and at the church one hour prior to services Saturday. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Russell C. Hoover, 79, Smicksburg RD 1, (Trade City), died Saturday, Feb. 5, 1972, a the Adrian Hospital. Born July 27, 1892, in Indiana County, he was a son of J. Quincy and Alice Barrett Hoover. He was first married to Vera G. Fireman, who preceded him in death April 19, 1958. On Dec. 6, 1958, he married Mabel Schuckers.

Mr. Hoover was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of trade City and the Men’s Bible Class. He was a retired self-employed trucker. Surviving are his widow, Mabel Schuckers Hoover; two sons and two daughters: C. Ray, Smicksburg RD 1; H. Paul, Valier; Mrs. C.B. Smith, Marion center RD 2; Mrs. Walter Leonard, Lancaster; three step-children: Burl S. Schuckers, Reynoldsville RD 1; Robert H. Schuckers, Brockway; Berton W. Schuckers, Bangor, Maine; 11 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers: George, Denver, Colo.; John, Hamilton; Floyd, Punxsutawney RD 5.

497. Fulmer Edward Silvis  from the Leader Vindicator

Fulmer Edward Silvis, 63, of 1012 Gordon St., Natrona Heights, husband of Pearl (King) Silvis, was dead on arrival at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 15, 1962 ) at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.  He died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the Farmers and Merchants Picnic at Alcola Park, near New Bethlehem.

Mr. Silvis was born Nov. 9, 1898, in Porter Twp., Clarion County, a son of Warren and the late Ella (Stahlman) Silvis.  He had lived in the Natrona Heights area since 1922, and was a stationary engine operator in NO. 2 Department, Allegheny Ludlum Steel, where he was employed for the past 40 years. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Natrona Heights, Veterans Club of Allegheny Ludlum Steel and was a 40-year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Martha Bell) Riemer of Saxonburg; a son, Larry of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Merle Silvis of New Bethlehem, Paul Silvis of St. Charles. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township.

Note; The 50^th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie helper lists a W. H. Silvis and wife in attendance, as well as J. J. Stahlman and wife, many Heplers, Elsie Stahlman, M.E. Stahlman, G. G. Stahlman, etc. So I conclude that Warren was married to Ella Stahlman.

498. Mrs. James (Minnie Shaffer) M. Stahlman from unknown newspaper

Mrs. Minnie Shaffer Stahlman, 89, of Harmony RD 2, died at 2 pm yesterday in Beaver County Hospital and Home, after an extended illness. Born July 8, 1890, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Shaffer. She was a member of the Beaver United Methodist Church for 45 years.

Her husband, James M. Stahlman, died March 31, 1965. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. William (Evelyn) Rodemoyer of Corry, Mrs. L. G. (Betty Lou) Manwaring of Salt lake City, Utah; a son, Jimmy E. Stahlman of Harmony RD 2; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

STAHLMAN – friends of Mrs. Minnie Shaffer Stahlman of Harmony RD 2, who died Monday, Dec. 3, 1979, will be received at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral home, Zelienople, from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Thursday from the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Fields, pastor of Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, New Bethlehem. Arrangements by Glenn-Kildoo.

Alvie Stahlman, 73, of 1000 Hancock Ave, Vandergrift, died Saturday (September 12, 1970) in Blairsville. He had been in ill health for several years. He was born on September 7, 1897 in Vandergrift, a son of Emery S. and Lottie (Neise) Stahlman. He lived in Vandergrift all his life.

Stahlman was a retired auto mechanic, having worked with the old Fitzgerald Motor Co. in Vandergrift for 20 years. He is survived by a brother, Ray Stahlman, Vandergrift.

STAHLMAN – friends of Alvie Stahlman, 73, of 1000 Hancock Ave., Vandergrift, who died Saturday (September 12, 1970) in Blairsville, are being received at the Dunmire-Kerr Funeral Home in Vandergrift. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am with the Rev. Bernard Bischoff, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Vandergrift officiating. Burial will follow in Vandergrift Cemetery. Arrangements by Dunmire-Kerr.
