George L. Stanback
March 25, 1842-May 30, 1864

George was the son of Presley Nelms Stanback, Sr., grandson of Thomas Stainback. Thomas Stanback was the brother of George W. Stainback, who fathered the Stainbacks of Granville County, North Carolina. George died  in the Civil War at Spotsylvania Court House, just over four months after his brother William L. Stanback  WilliamLStanback.gif (78912 bytes)  died in the Battle of Winchester.
