COMMENT:  Hi Barbara, You won't believe how disappointed I was when I could not find your ancestors in my family tree!  I guess however that the Stalmanns that migrated to the US could have been cousins of my tree, as the names such as Theodore, Johann, etc seem to be pop up in my tree as well during that time.Regards, Dieter

Hi Barbara, I found your site on an internet search.  Im the grandson of Joseph Stallman that farmed near Mooreton , ND .  My father is Roger Stallman from Barney , ND .  I will have to look at a family tree that a past relative painstakingly put together and trace these names to find a relation.  Renee, who left a message earlier, is my cousin.  Thank you, Matt Stallman  1910 38th St, Br. 228  Denver, Co.  80216

NOTE:
My father, Herbert Rolfes, passed away on 24 April, 2007.  There are now only two remaining siblings:  Leona and Ursula. It was Leonilla Rolfes,  born 15 Jan 1925 in Iona, MN who died on 25 Mar 1927 in Iona, MN from meningitis.  Leona was born in 1930 and was named
for her sister.

I am searching for a family that has disappeared after 1900 census was taken. Holly Dist, Webster Co., WV., 1900 census:
William Stallman b. Feb 1842 in WV -  father in Holland and mother in Maryland.  Mary A. Stallman, b. Apr 1851 in Va - father NC mother in Va. William B. Stallman b. July 1892 WV.; Sarah J. Phares b. June 1879 WV; Esa G. Phares b. March 1884 WV; Amanda A. Phares B. Sept 1889.
L
ast three all marked as step-child but William is not. Full name of son is William Beverly Stallman..(***William B's middle name is Beverly and William the father (we are just guessing at this) was captured at Beverly, WV, in the Civil War. Coincidence? William B. might have married Edna M. "?"Stallman. She is listed on his service card as a contact. Any information on this family Please contact me. Thanks, Sherry

My great-grandma, Clementina (Stallman) Schulte and  Anna Mary (Stallman) Rolfes were sisters.  My great-grandma "Tina" married John Henry Schulte and their son, Francis (my grandpa), was my mom's father.  My great-grandparents settled outside of a little town called Emery, South Dakota after they were married.  My grandpa  bought their farm when they moved into town and that farm is where my mom grew up.  I grew up about 8 miles west of Emery in a little town called Alexandria.  This is where I graduated.  I have been working on our Stallman family tree for over 10 years and have come a long way.   I hope someone can help me with this as I realize, living here in PA, my children will probably never get to know my family.  Jennifer (Vilhauer) Lees

When I get a message in German, I do use Internet translation, to see if I can get the message myself, without paying for translation. Google has some translation on it too. I go to one of these web sites:   http://babelfish.altavista.com/      Then I paste the message into MSWord and convert the text to a table with two columns. After that, I copy and paste each paragraph into the translation and copy the translated words back to the document. Usually I need to polish it up a bit and sometimes a sentence doesnt make sense at all and I have to ask a German friend for help, but usually I can get the main information from a message.   See translation of letter from Alfred Smieszchala re Dopheide family.

Comment :   Raymond R. (Bud) Stallman was my Grandpa. His only Daughter: Angela Raylene, is my Mother. I loved my Grandpa and I
think this site is great because I found out more about his past. My Grandmother (his wife) passed

I noticed a reference to Wheatland Twp. near Iona, MN as the place where Clement Stallman served as a school director for eight years.  I grew up in Slayton which is six miles from Iona. I asked my father if he had ever heard of Wheatland Twp and he said it was in Iowa. I located  a Wheatland, Iowa on a current Iowa map, but it is not close to Breda, Iowa or Iona, MN. I thought you might want to know this.  Your cousin, Kate Coleman.

I just found your information on the Frank Kerkhoff family.  My grandfather's name was Frank.  Do you have any more information on Frank?  My grandfather was born in 1879 in Beerta Province Groningen Holland.  His father was Tonnis (Thomas) Kerkhoff.  Do any of these names sound familiar?  I'd appreciate any information you might be willing to share.   Thank you,  Carol [email protected]

Comment:        Barbara,  I've just found that we have a connection in our ancestry. Catharina Adelheid Bault (listed on your web site as Katharina BULT) who married Gerhard Henrich Dopheide (Heinrich Dopheid in your data) was my great-grandaunt. I'd be glad to share information about
her parents, if you are
interested in going back in her line. When the Bault family had been in Iowa for some time, Katharina's nephew Henry Bault changed the spelling to Buelt. I have started to go through the church records available from St. Nicholas Katholisch in Ankum and do have some solid baptism and marriage dates. Best wishes for a good New Year!

Hi Barbara,  I found your web page and I thought I'd give you a few more names to add. The marriage of Theodore Heinrich STALLMAN and Henrica Bernardina ENDEMANN produced a total of 5 children, not just 1. Before I give you the names, I should mention that I am related only to Henrica and not Theodore. Since you are from the STALLMANN side, it looks like we are not related. Nevertheless, we are both related to their offspring. The children are: 1. Elisabeth *4 Dec 1835, oo Carl Anton 'KALKOFF' AVERBECK 5 Jun 1860. Carl's birth name was KALKOFF, but through farming inheritance, changed his name to his wife's name, AVERBECK2. Josephina Theodora Bernardina * 30 May 1838, oo Anton SIEMER 11 Oct 18703. Carolina Bernardina * 2 Jan 18424. Theodor Henrich * 24 Dec 18455. Antonetta Bernardina * 19 Apr 1850. The children of Elisabeth STALLMANN and Carl Anton AVERBECK are: a). Clemens Anton * 30 Apr 1861; b). Theodor August * 5 Jan 1864;  c). Heinrich August * 17 Sep 1867.

Looking for any info on the ancestors and family of Frank and Dayle Stalman. She was born on Aug. 9, 1894 in Petersburg, Nebraska. They married in Jan. 1918 in Fremont, Nebraska. Frank died in 1930. no children

CALLED TO NEBRASKA BY BROTHER'S DEATH
H.K. Stallman received a message Tuesday that his brother, Frank Stallman, had died suddenly the day before at his home in Petersburg, Neb. The cause of his death being attributed to a ruptured appendix. Mr. and Mrs. Stallman left for Petersburg the same evening to attend the funeral which was held Wednesday. The deceased was the oldest automobile dealer in Boone County, having been identified with the automotive business in that community for the past 25 years (purchased Phil Lochmiller's garage in 1912 with partners Fred Poppan and Fred DeLarm and named it the 3F Garage). A side-note states that it was the only 3F garage in the US.   In addition to being one of the leading businessmen of Petersburg, Mr. Stallman found time to serve his home town as a councilman and also on the board of education. He was 51 years of age at the time of his death.  Mr. Stallman is survived by his wife, five brothers, three sisters and numerous other relatives in addition to a large number of friends.   NOTE:
Since he purchased the garage in 1912 and had been in business 25 years, the death date must be ca 1937. barbara.  Info comes from the Petersburg Centennial Book. Shows a Mrs. Dayle Stallman as acting postmaster in 1927, and postmaster Feb. 21, 1931. in 1935, she took a teaching position elsewhere. Also mentioned is the fact that a safe with jewelry in it was blown up (around 2 a.m.) a few doors down from the building where Frank had a room. He heard the explosion, but failed to investigate.  barbara
