Theodore Phillip was born Apr. 16, 1853, at Bakum, Oldenberg, Germany, to Bernard Heinrich and Catherine Bernardina SIEMER STALMANN and died in 1930, at Ashton, Carroll County, Iowa. He came to America, landing in New York at age 16. From there he went to Chicago where he worked odd jobs before settling in Carroll County Iowa. There he was married to Angela Herbers Jan. 23, 1877. She was born June 20, 1859, at New Vienna, Iowa to Theodore and Maria Angela Rosen Herbers. They lived in Ashton, Iowa where he operated a hardware store with his son, John, from 1916 to 1926. Theodore passed away Dec. 27, 1930 (obit below). Angela died Sept. 2, 1939, at Granville, Iowa.
They had 12 children:
- John, 1879-1963. m. (1) Johanna HUISMAN. ch: Olive. m. (2) Palma Thompson.
- Bernard Theodore, 1882-19 July 1939 at Beardsley, Big Stone Co., MN. m. Louise HUISMAN, 1885-1953. Ch: John, Johanna, Norbert and Christine.
- Frank, (Francis Bernard) d. 1884, at age 2. Templeton, Iowa.
- Cecilia Ann - (Sr. Barnaba) Nov. 17, 1886, Templeton, Iowa. She entered St. Rose Convent of Franciscans Sisters, LaCrosse, Wisc., Sept. 1911, from Iona, Minn., and received the name of Sister Barnaba. She taught 25 years and was a sacristan at St. Anthony's Hospital at Carroll, Iowa for 25 years. She died June 18, 1966, at St. Rose Convent.
- Francis Clement "Frank", 1888-1926. m. Agnes HECK of Berry, MN. Ch: Edward, Rita, Martha.
- Joseph Francis, dob 1891, Templeton, IA -dod 17 Nov 1964, at Mpls. Hennepin Co., MN. m. Louise KLOSTERMAN. Ch: Roger, Vern, Dave, Dan and Tom.
- Clement Aloysius "Al", 1893-1978, m. Helen BUTLER. One daughter:
- Leonard Clement, 1895-1980. m. Rose DRIES. Ch: Irving, Bernice, LaVonne, Mildred, Virgil and Verna.

- Rose Mary (Sr. Elizabeth) was born Mar, 27, 1899 in Templeton, Iowa. She entered St. Rose Convent of Franciscans Sisters, LaCrosse, Wisc., in November of 1917, from Ashton and received the name Sister Elizabeth. She taught grade and high school 54 years. She died in 1984, St. Rose Convent, LaCrosse, Wisc.
- Susanna Mary, (Sr. Mary Theonilla) was born Apr. 25,1901, in Iona, Minn. and entered St. Rose Convent of Franciscans Sisters, LaCrosse, Wisc., May, 1920, from Ashton, Iowa. Taught elementary grades 50 years.
- Anthony Bertram "Ben", Mar. 23, 1906 at Iona, Minn. and , m. Nina BARNES of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Aug. 13, 1931 They lived in Ashton, working at the First National Bank. In 1936, they moved to Granville, Iowa, where he took over the Hosper's State Bank branch office. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was also a 4th degree knight. He passed away Jan. 8, 1966, at Granville, Iowa. Two children: Angeline, (Mrs. Jim Klein,) Granville, and .Theodore "Teddy", Yankton, SD. They have six children.

Theodore Philip, son of Philip Theodore and Bernadine Siemers Stallman, was born April 16, 1852, at Oldenburg, Germany. At the age of 16 Theodore came to the US and landed in NY, where he worked at odd jobs and then on to Chicago, Illinois at odd jobs and then to Carroll County, Iowa, where he started farming.
He married Angela Herbers, the daughter of Theodore and Marie Angela (Rosen) Herbers (born on June 20, 1859, at New Vienna, Iowa). On January 23, 1877, Theodore and Angela were married at New Vienna, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Stallman moved from New Vienna to Templeton and then to Iona, Minnesota where he was a farmer and politician until they moved to Ashton, Iowa in 1916. He owned and operated a hardware store with his son John, until 1926 when Theodore retired and John moved to Sioux City. During this time the Stallman Hardware donated to the parish and also erected the present metal fence at St. Mary's Cemetery.
To this union, 12 children were born:
- John, June 30, 1879 to March 9, 1963, married Johanna Huisman and they had one daughter, Olivia. (Mrs George Eichman). Second wife - Palma Thompson
- Bernard Theodore, April 5,1881, to July 19, 1939, married Louise Huisman (Huessman?) (1885-1953) and they had four children: Christina, Johanna, John and Norbert.
Theodore Philip passed away December 27, 1930, and Angela Herbers Stallman passed away September 2, 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Stallman celebrated their Golden Jubilee on June 8, 1926.

Wedded Fifty Years
Ashton, Iowa, June 14, 1933. The golden anniversary of their wedding at New Vienna, Iowa., 50 years ago, was celebrated Wednesday by Mr. and Mrs. T.P. Stallman. All of their children were present for the occasion. At 8:30 Wednesday morning, the marriage vows were respoken before the Rev. Father Neppl in St. Mary's catholic Church. A 1 o'clock dinner was served in the Stallman home for the honored couple and their guests.
After their marriage they moved to Carroll, then later to Iona, Minn., during which time they were engaged in farming. In 1916, Mr. Stallman bought the J.L. Johannes hardware business here and have made their home here for the past 10 years. Mr. Stallman retired from the business last year.
They have raised a fine family of seven sons and three daughters: John, an interior decorator at Sioux City; Ted, Clem and Joe, farmers at Beardsley, Minn.; A.C., a banker at Dayton, Minn.; Leo, a farmer at Ashton and Ben, in a bank here; and Sisters M. Theonilla, M. Barnaba and M. Elizabeth.
T.P. Stallman obit
T.P. Stallman, brother of Clem Stallman of Carroll, Iowa, passed peacefully to his eternal reward at his home in Ashton, Iowa, Saturday morning, Dec. 27, 1930. Death was due to a lingering illness and the frailties of old age.
Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Church in Ashton Tuesday. A solemn requiem mass was offered for the repose of the soul of the deceased. Rev. Ed. Neppl being the celebrant. Rev. J.B. Herbers, a relative of the deceased, deacon, and Rev. Carey, sub-deacon. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
Mr. Stallman, born at Oldenberg, Germany, was 77 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, six sons and three daughters: John of Sioux City; Theodore, Beardsley, Minn.; Joseph, Mooreton, ND; Alois, Dayton, Minn.; and Leo and Ben, Ashton; Sisters Barnaba, Elizabeth and Theonilla of St. Rose Convent, LaCrosse, Wisc. He also leaves two brothers: Clem Stallman of Carroll and Henry Stallman of Oskaloosa. Two sons, one daughter, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
When a young man of 19, Mr. Stallman came to America, landing at Baltimore and later settling at New Vienna, Iowa, where he was married to Angela Herbers in 1877. After their marriage they settled on their own farm near Templeton where they resided for 20 years. They then moved to Iona, Minn., where they lived for 18 years, after which they retired at Ashton, Iowa, which has been their home for the last 15 years.
In 1926, Mr. and Mrs. Stallman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, at which time Mr. Stallman was hale and hearty. He survived several attacks of illness and bore all with patience and resignation.
Mr. Stallman was a member of the Knights of Columbus, of the Holy Name Society and of the Roman Catholic Mutual Protective Association. He was a faithful subscriber to the D.A.T.
Relatives and friends cherish the memory of Mr. Stallman as a respected citizen and exemplary Catholic.
