Ward End House, also known as the Park House, was home to the Marshall family (bankers in Ward End) until 1884, when the genealogist George William Marshall (born 1839) sold it to Frederick Gwyther, an electro-plate manufacturer. After Gwyther's death in 1891, his widow Charlotte Elizabeth lived in the house until 1895, selling the house and part of the land to Birmingham Corporation in 1903. In 1904 it was opened as Ward End Park.
