Tracie Andrews Guilty

Guilty of killing her boyfriend

Tracie Andrews has been found guilty of killing her boyfriend Lee Harvey. The jury returned an unanimous verdict on the 28-year-old after a trial lasting nearly two weeks.

She showed no emotion as the judge sentenced her to a life sentence.

Lee Harvey was murdered in January after the couple had spent an evening in a local pub. Andrews had always claimed that her fiance was a victim of a road rage attack.

When police found her, battered and covered in blood, she told them how they had been victims of a bizarre road rage attack. Detectives heard that a man with “starey eyes”, driving a blue Ford Sierra, had chased them down the country lane close to their home in Bromsgrove in the West Midlands.

She went on to appear at a press conference, in front of the world's media., pleading for the attackers to come forward and give themselves up. She was comforted by by Mr Harvey's parents, Ray and Maureen Harvey. Wearing black clothes she said the killing was: “the most stupid, vile thing that could come out of a car chase.”

However, the ex-model's lies were soon to be exposed.

Detectives realised that the road where the stabbing happened was too narrow for the “attacker's” car to overtake, as Andrews had described. Witnesses said they saw Lee Harvey's car on the lane, but saw no evidence that it was being chased by anyone else.

When forensic scientists examined the clothes there was no explanation for blood stains inside her boots which matched the imprint of the Swiss Army knife used for the killing.

A few days later, Andrews attempted suicide. The prosecution said this was caused by guilt over the murder, but she said it was prompted by her despair at losing the man she loved.

Throughout the case she wore the engagement ring given to her by Lee Harvey and made a great show of parading it in front of the jury at Birmingham Crown Court. The couple were due to be married just a few days ago.

Lee Harvey's parents reacted with joy when the jury announced its verdict, but were quickly told to quieten down by the trial judge.

Tracey Andrews is starting a life sentence now and will have many years to come to terms with her crimes.
