The origin of the name Southall

The origin of the name Southall

English (chiefly West Midlands): habitation name from any of the various places so called, from Old English suð + halh south + nook, recess. This might be the town that is now a district of West London, but the distribution of the surname makes a Warwickshire origin more likely. Places called Southall in Doverdale Worcestershire, and Billingsley Shropshire, are also possible sources.
