Born Lucille Holderness, daughter of Scott Holderness and Mary Emma Ware, 24 April 1884 TX. Married Dr Harold Stonier, executive Vice-President of the American Bankers Association. She died 3 November 1966, Asheville, Buncombe NC (dates of birth and death are taken from her Death Certificate)

She was a graduate of the Chouinard Art Institute and Parsons School of Design. She studied under Eliot O'Hara and William Lester Stevens. She was a member of the Asheville (NC) Art Guild, Black Mountain (NC) Art Club, Palm Beach Art League, and the Southern States Art League. She exhibited widely in the South, winning a number of awards for her work. She was a practitioner of the American Scene style of watercolor painting. Her work is in the collection of the Norton Museum of Art and Veteran's Hospital in Otean, North Carolina.

The above is an untitled abstract landscape watercolour, thought to date from after 1950. It is framed behind glass. Size including frame is 17" × 20.5".


Said by the Gullah Gallery to be Asheville NC. Size is 20" by 17".
