9 | Erasmus ALTON | Born 1665, Winchester New York | Alton-Allton-Aulton Association Family Newsletter, Vol.1, No3 - January, February, March 1993 - pp4-7 | Other sources give the Place of Birth as England, but no evidence is offered. The newsletter is not available online for Copyright reasons. |
Married Elizabeth QUINBY circa 1698 | Proven from Jacobus, cited below
Died 1727, Rahway, Union, New Jersey | Source is given a the New Jersey Abstract of Wills, 1670-1817 | The date of death does not appear to be given in the source quoted
9 | Elizabeth QUINBY | Born 1669, Westchester, Westchester New York | Page 496
of "History & Genealogy of The Families of Old Fairfield", by Donald Lines Jacobus has
Quinby, Wlliam | It's a little odd that Elizabeth's DoB isn't given, as Deborah's is. That suggests that Jacobus didn't know it: the data may not have been recorded. |
Married Erasmus ALTON bef. 4 March 1698/9 | This confirms the marriage between Erasmus Alton and Elizabeth Quinby.
It possibly also dates it: the conveyance may have been on their marriage.
Died Rahway, Union New Jersey
10 | Deborah HAIGHT | Born 1636, Stratford, Fairfield Connecticut
Married John QUINBY 1650, Westchester New York | The ancestry entry lists the marriage twice, in 1650 and 1686. The 1650 entry is consistent with the dates of the children
Died 1710, Amesbury, Essex, Massachusetts
11 | Susanna SMITH | Born 1615, Upway Dorset England | "A genealogical dict. of the first settlers of New England, showing three generations of those who came before May, 1692". By James Savage. Boston. 1861. (4v.)v.2:481 | The given source does not support the conclusion: "Upway" does not appear in the
Hoyt or
Smith
entries in the dictionary.
I can find no primary source for this marriage. This webpage puts forward a seemingly convincing argument that the identification of Susanna Hoyt as Susanna Smith is due to misinterpretation of "The Smiths Goodman Hait's brother"
