The 1901 census shows that the Cooks lived next door to Henry Ryall and his family. Census records (2 Water Lane, Lexden ESS: RG12/1409 f4 p1; Nunns Cut, North Hill, Colchester ESS: RG11/1791 f9 p11; 5 Regent Street, Ipswich SFK: RG10/1756 f140 p23; Harmony Square, Ipswich: RG9/1165 f38 p9; Harmony Square, Ipswich: HO107/1800 f466 p 29; Bottom Lane, Ipswich: HO107/1043/7 f35 p12) show him to be the son of William and Mary Ryall. Who were not the William and Mary Ryall who were grandparents to John W Nicholson. If the two Ryall familes are unrelated, this is a strange co-incidence.

The IGI lists the parents of Sarah Bell as William and Jane; but those of all other Bells, including Martha and Hannah, as William and Ann (which is consistent with the 1841 census). If this be correct, it implies that William married three times, the first and third to an Ann. Or it could be an error in the Parish Register, or the IGI.
