Cemetery and Churchyard Information

According to GenUKI, most records for cemeteries are held by the Local District Council, NOT the Cornwall Record Office. There are few monumental inscriptions in existance dated before 1800, and only 30% of graves had stones. Cornwall Family History Society has compiled a database of Monumental Inscriptions, which is available for a fee.

St. Austell Cemetery
4103 memorials. Located on the eastern side of St. Austell, Eastbourne Rd.; not closed. Also known as "Watering Hill". Operated by Cornwall Council; see contact information below.

St. Austell - Holy Trinity Churchyard
closed in 1880. Numerous site changes have necessitated moving of markers, and remains, even for those buried within the church walls. Only 3 memorials remain.

High Cross Cemetery
Closed. Now part of "Cemetery Park", across from rail and bus station. 485 memorials, many of which are in Cemetery Park against the fences..

Campdown Cemetery, Carlyon Bay, Charlestown
tucked away behind a hill; recently expanded. Currently has 1509 memorials. On Crinnis Road. Operated by Cornwall Council; see contact information below.

Treverbyn Cemetery
Located next to the Primary School, currently has 1550 memorials.  Operated by Cornwall Council; see contact information below. 

Treverbyn Churchyard
308 memorials. Located near the Primary School, on Treverbyn Road.      

Rose Hill Cemetery, Rose Hill Rd, St. Blazey
has 630 memorials; located next to the A390. Operated by Cornwall Council; see contact information below.

Old Walled Cemetery, St. Blazey
now a park, was once a cemetery; memorials have been left in place, however. No count as to memorial numbers.

Leekseed Chapel graveyard, St. Blazey - now closed. No count as to memorial numbers. (Please contact webmaster for look-ups.)

Further cemeteries once under the jurisdiction of the Restormel Borough Council are located in Tywardreath, Fowey, Newquay, Lostwithiel, and Mevagissey. Churchyards maintained by them are in Tywardreath, Luxulyan, Lanlivery, St. Goran, St. Enoder, Fowey, Mevagissey, and St. Columb Minor. We are informed that the Cornwall Council has taken over management of the cemeteries.
