Records of Church of Christ at Bristol, R.I. (formerly Mass.) mention 22 July 1688 the baptism, by Rev. Samuel Lee, of Samuel and Hannah Doggett, children of Thomas Doggett. [Gen.Register, Vol.34,p.132.] Church organized 3 May 1687. Name in Baptismal records spelled with an "o" but family soon returned to Vineyard and only records extant conform to the changed spelling and afterward he was referred to as "Daggett". Capt.Timothy Daggett, gentleman, resided in Edgartown, Mass. With 2 brothers was executor of father's estate in 1726, and in 1733 sole executor of mother's estate. Lands which came to him + wife by inheritance were increased between this time + 23 Jan 1759 by purchase of 6 other estates, all located in town of Edgartown. Name occurs in Dukes Deeds 13 Jan 1727/8 - 13 Jan 1773, as making 18 different sales of land in Edgartown, at Cape Poeg, at Chappaquiddick + at Farm Neck. There are but 73 stones remaining in the first burial place in Edgartown; of this number 3 are for Daggets. Of these are Capt.
