Membership organization has research library and bookstore online. Emphasis on No. Calif.
The California Military Museum
Library, research center and bookstore dedicated to CA military history. Very helpful on CA volunteers.
California State Library
In Sacramento, has complete catalog online with links to other Calif. libraries. Not much assistance for e-mail help.

Hildreth Family Association
The Assn. has published 5 Hildreth books dealing with the descendents of 1635 Richard in the US. Annual trips.

Excellent for book searches, online databases, photographs. Spend hours researching and browsing. 
The Maritime Heritage Project
Site is dedicated to Calif. shipping from 1850 to 1900. Many named ships and captains.
