Fri, July 5, 1895

Has been a beautiful day. Annie has been sewing all day. I helped her on the skirt. Mr. & Mrs, D. Pearce called in the eanning. Olbon cut the grass in the front yard. Charley did nothing. This his day off.

Sat, July 6, 1895

Annie finished the little dress. Mrs. Fred Hacket took tea here. At night Annie, Charley, Mr. Albough & daughter, little Sam & I went after Clarence. Leam brought me back as far as his house. Has been a beautiful night. I got pr. mits (?) 17 cts. Got home 11:45 PM. Mrs. Harding & * & Wm Rozell filled it with beer for me and the bottom fell out.

Has been quite a pleasant day. Mr. & Mrs. Wolvern & daughter called. Leam & Sate came after me. We stopped to see Mr. Hornbeck. He was not very much better. Annie only had about doz here for dinner.

Mon, July 8, 1895

I got up this AM at 5 o'clock. Picked three qrts before breakfast. Picked 24 qrts in all. Then Sate and I did up the work. Has been a beautiful day. Today is the first time I ever picked berries only at home. Took Sate over to her Pa's. She stayed all night.

Tues, July 9, 1895

Sate washed this morning. I did the house work. That is all for today. Has looked like rain. TODAY IS BYRONS BIRTHDAY HE IS … HAVE THOUGHT OF HIM ALL DAY. I made ginger cookies and cake. Sate churned.

Wed, July 10, 1895

Has been quite warm. Sate ironed. I did the other work. Sate went over home. I wrote home. I made cake for Brit to take to Barn Dance at Will Shepards.

Thur, July 11, 1895

Picked berries from 4 AM until 11:30. Had only 33 qrts. When Leam got he told * I had not got up & when they found I was in the patch how they did laugh. Was quite cold, but warm at noon.

Sat, July 13, 1895

Sate was determined I should go to Lyons with them. I felt like staying at home. I wrote to Ma. Sate did not come home. Her Pa was taken in bed with a spell. Bessie and Lemon had great time visiting while I wrote.

Had fearful hot day. Clarence Olmstead called. The children went to Sabath school. Sate and I went over to her folks. Mr. Hornbeck knew me. Sate came back with me.

Thur, July 18, 1895

Charles & Annie got here before we had breakfast. Bessie got dinner for the men & early had company. I picked 12 qrts of huckleberries and Sate picked 20. Annie & Charley had qrts. Got home 6 PM. Had jolley good time. Annie took Bessie home with her.

Fri, July 19, 1895

I got up this AM at 4 O'clock. Picked until noon & only had 25 qrts of berries. In the afternoon my but my dress was wet.

Sat, July 20, 1895

Have been very bossy all day. Picked 8 qrts of berries & Sate picked 8 to take to her sister. Lemon went home. I wahed out my blew dress. Mr. Hornbeck was taken worse & Sate did not come home. Has been quite pleasant.

Sun, July 21, 1895

Had heavy shower. Seemed to come down in sheets. Good deal wind accompanied the rain. Lemon took me over to Mr. Hornbecks. He was very low. I did not see him. Frank and Grant Burnette called while we were there. Sate stayed all night. Jennie was there. Had few min talk with her. Have not been feeling very well. Birt had fresh water clams. The first I ever tasted. No good.

Sate came home to see about the berries. Did not have any picked. She went back to her folks. I churned, mopped, and washed. At night Leam & I went over to Hornbeck's. Jennie and I sit up with Mrs. Hornbeck to watch & the rest went to bed. All night Mr. Hornbeck kept saying higher & lifting his hands. Did seem so sad to think one could do nothing to give him any comfort.

Tues, July 23, 1895

Mr. Wells Hornbeck passed away this A.M. at 5 O'clock, Mr. Josh Hornbeck took me over to Sates as she wanted me to look after the berry pickers. She came home in afternoon. I think I picked only 18 qrts. Could not get in the house as Birt had the key. Leamon took the berries to Phelps.

I ironed part of the clothes in the afternoon. Sate & Leam went to Lyons. Brought Sate Halstead home with them. I do not feel very well today.

Thur, July 25, 1895

Sate & I picked some beans. Sate Halstead helped Sate fix the boquets. Mrs. Stonebridge brought some white flowers. John got over to Hornbeck last night. I'm glad he could get here. Had a very large funeral. Sate was so sickly I had to help her undress when we got home. Have had to go out several times today.

I got up early this morning & picked berries. Had five qrts before breakfast. Got all picked before noon. Lost or had three toyes stolen today again. Today found *ie guilty one. The someone I thought. I picked 27 qrts today. Annie & Charley came over & Sate Halsteads went home with them. Have felt quite bad all day. Guess will have to give up onions sure.

My how it did rain. John and Jennie got here 11 AM. Only stayed little while then they went over to John's folks. Stopped to Annie's few min. I have felt little better today but have to make good many calls.

Leman & Mr. John Barick went away for drive. Birt took his mother & I over to his grandmothers. We stayed until Leamon came after us. Alex, Belle, & Mrs. Storms went over to Annie's. Sate popped Birt some corn. Has been a beautiful day. I wrote Buel & also wrote to Mother.

Sate & I did the washing & ironing. Had a fearfully large washing. 5 shirts, 5 skirts & other things. In pro. Had callers. Annie & Sate Halstead called. I mopped down the stairs steps. Mr. Tromer from Lyons called. My but it is warm this afternoon. I have been quite rushed today in every sense of the word, but would not give up.

Today is the last of the picking. I picked 12 qrts for myself & made them in to jam & jelly. Went down to the union patch. Was quite cool before got back. Sate scolded me for going. Was sick in the berry patch but kept picking just the same.

Wed, July 31, 1895

Sate & I have been cutting stocking feet & fixing the hoes. Has been quite cool today, If I went once I had to go, well, will not say. Sate made me good whiskey sling & then Mrs, Glimps told us to boil milk & burn cobs & put in the milk, I went to bed but could not sleep. Took morphene to quiet but kept me awake. Was fearfully sick all night.

SEEMES I CAN HERE BYRON SAY WILL W COME. When I tried to dress this AM seemed my strength was all gone. Sate insisted on my going to bed. At last had 2 yield. It rained. Was good * here. Miss Parish, Mrs. Ida Shepard, Mr. & Mrs. *. Byron called few minutes. Was going to Lyons. Sate has been very kind to me. Made a mustard paste before I could get any comfort or rest. Did not sleep scarcely all night. O MY.

Have felt little better today but Sate would not listen to my getting up, but in afternoon I did go out in sitting room. Was talken with Birt. Made me cup of alspice tea & I went to sleep for the first time in three nights. Sate and Leam had to go to Lyons. Has been quite pleasant. Annie & Charley came over little while. Got letter from Jennie. She is in Canada.

AGAIN A DAY DAWNS AND RECALLS to my mind BY LO 9 YRS AGO WHEN FIRST I MET JASPER BLAKE. Today have felt little better. Sit up part of the time. Sate had good deal to do.

Lemon got the turkeys and if he was not mad then no use talking. Bert had young man to dinner. Sate & I went out in the orchard. I have felt very little better today. Has been quite warm. Bert took carriage down to creek.

Did not sit up on a part of the day. At night took little walk in the berry patch. Got 2 qrts. My but it did tire me. Sate

Tues, Aug 6, 1895

Have been feeling little better today. This forenoon went all over the berry patch. Got just three qrts of berries. The last of them. Mr. Guss Shepard came here and stayed all forenoon. Leam gave him cider & there he sat & drank. Sate made three cakes this morning & churned.

Wed, Aug 7, 1895

Lemon went to Lyons after lumber. In the afternoon Bert took his mother & I to Lyons. The great bycicle race is today from Lyons to Newark & back & finishes around the hack. Met Mr. John Barrick. He insisted on Sate & I having something to drink. I took wine and Sate took beer. Leam could not find us but heaps fun. A beautiful night. I went to see the Dr.

Have felt quite good in afternoon. Just stopped to Charley's few minutes as we went to Phelps. Sate got 4 yds calico. I got me black dress, some under vests & thread. Adie Busby was to Annie when we got there. A beautiful night. JUST ONE WEEK TODAY SINCE MY BEST FRIEND GAVE ME AN OPERTUNITY O of enjoyment but such is my lot and I am glad and thankful.

Got letter from dia Ma & one from OHSH. Sate, Lemon & I went to the Macabees sociable. I did not dare to eat any ice cream. Had three invatations. The park was lighted up with Jap. Lanterns and it looked pretty. I SAW IN MY MINDE A DEAR FACE THAT SAT IN THAT PARK A WITH ME LONG YRS AGRO MY DEAR. The night is perfect. I feel quite weak yet seems I do not get strength very fast. Sate, Lemon & I git over to Annie's 12 AM. They, S & L, stayed until 5 PM & then they went home. I stayed. It rained just little. Maggie & Jack came over little while. They had little Jennie with them.

Mon, Aug 12, 1895

Annie helped Sate with her waist & cut out mine. I ripped up Annie's yellow dress & sewed on mine. Lemon, Bert & the men they had shingling the house worked all day. It looked little like rain in the morning. We had just gone to bed when the threshers came. Annie had nearly a hysteric fit for laughing over hat boys. Ha coop. I wrote to Alice Baker today.

Had threshers here for breakfast. That was all. They came last night after 10 PM. Charley & Clarence went up to Wolverns to help thresh. Did not get home very early. Mrs. Benn Burnette called to house. Annie make her a dress. Sate did not come over today. Has been a beautiful day. I worked on my rapper.

Charley went after his Ma but she did not come. Mrs. Pierce came down after butter. Charley got home 11 PM. The horse was out and he, Charley, was out of temper as usual. I was out of sight but these ears heard the noise. Sate came over in afternoon with the men. They got all through shingling. Annie cut out my skirt. I worked on my rapper. A beautiful day.

Annie & I had just gotten up to Mrs. Pierce when Jennie came after me. Annie & I went to Lyons with Mrs. Pierce & Alice Hornbeck. Took Bessie & Jennie to the depot. There I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. & Mrs. Rogers from Owasco, I MET BEN IN PLY*E.. HE DID NOT GOW BACK TO WOLCOTT. We reached home 7 PM and right glad I am to get home. Went to PO & Julery store after got home. The people were surprised.

Mr. Snyders folk came after us to go to Fare Haven to the reunuin. Had jolley time. Met some people & had good time. A beautiful spotted horse in the show. Going to see Clarissa. Got pic of her future husband. Today is the first time I ever rode on a merrygo around. Got home when we did. Ha ha.

Jennie & I had a little visit this AM up in my room on the bed. Was quite tired. John got home 12 o'clock. Was quite surprised to see him. Had quite an electrical storm. Seemed if lightning must have struck down the bunk back of the house. I shocked me so I trembled for long time & it affected Jennie too. Snyder came up with John & we played cards. A new deck. O ah yers guess Effie don’t yow.

Jennie hung up Bessie's clothes this AM & got them dry & ironed. Had Snyder's folks here for dinner. In afternoon Mr. & Mrs. Bennett & Clarissa called. Snyder & John went up to see Alex. Mr. Lee Vanvolkinsberg called to see John. Has been a beautiful day. What fun John had butchering. I THINK MY LITTLE BABY PASSED.

Today the reunion opens at Bonney Castle. Snyder took his people up there. John & Bessie started for Canada today. Went to Bonney C. & from there to Sodus Point. Jennie went as far as the point with them. I stayed all alone. Nearly had good crying time but thought would not be great big baby. Has been a beautiful day.

I was sick all night. Did not get up this AM until 10 o'clock. Clarissia came up & stayed long time. Wrote to Mont & she wrote few lines. Jennie got home 6 PM. I had just gotten the baking done. AH BB I DID YOU THINK OF TODAY. YOU DARLING. TO THINK HE WANTS TO DO SO MACH FOR ME AND I CAN NOT ACCEPT ANY FAVORS AH NO NOT.

Have been quite busy all day fixing my waist. Jen worked on her dress. Got it all fixed. Mrs. Bennet & Clarissa called. I have not felt very well today. Maybe it would be best for me to go to the Island & stay but guess will get well at home. But am thankful for the opertunity. Went down to meet market. Jad couple of eggs. *t for Jen have one.

Had breakfast ready when Snyder came up to house & he sat down & took breakfast with us girls, Shep & I guess yes, he keeps away the bugl. Jennie & I went down to Snyders. Got some beets & cucumbers to cook for them. I git her new black dress & cut out the skirt. I got brade or velvet for mine & the skirt lining. Jen gave me set side combs. Did not go to prayer meeting. Some one called to find out where Hendrick.

Jennie fitted her waist today, or nearly fitted. Snyder came up to supper & he would take no far an answer. We had to go back to the castle with him. Had colored girl in the load that sang beautifully. Got to castle 9 PM. Met Horas and had little visit. Did not see anyone else I wished to. Had * to frankford. Tonight is my first night in a tent.

We left the castle this AM at 7 o'clock. Charley, Annie, Miss Ada Brisby & Clarence Olmstead got here 4 PM. Stayed until 8 PM. Then they went out to Clar's people. Annie had hard spell. She got new pr. shoes. Ha ha ha. Jennie & I went down st. Got people watching us & we kept out of sight & watched them try to keep casses on us. Got letter for Clarissia Bennet. Had lots of fun. Jennie nearly fin her new black dress.

I did not think I could go this morning but when the team came I was not only half ready & Jennie was waiting. Met the folks after got over to the Castle grounds. Horas asked me to go over to Sodus Point. Jen, Stell, & I went. Had great time. Charley's folks had to go home early. Took dinner in the Stan*chel tent. Also had tea there. I met a young man from Weedsport. Looked LIKE A FACE I SAW IN MY DREAM FEW NIGHTS AGO SO ALIKE.

Annie has been sewing all day. I have made two aprins. Nothing of any importance occurred. Have thought of Jennie good deal today.

Wed, Aug 28, 1895

Had breakfast early & got good early start for Geneva. I got strong fiber & some linen & thread. Came to $1.92. Got home 1:30 PM. Mrs. Dell Pierce left her children with Annie while they went to Syracuse to the fare. I got word from Montesuma. I sent Alice a ball of jute twine 10 cts * 10 cts for postage. Got corn coming home. Sewed carpet rags or "rug rags".

Has rained part of the day. Charley and Annie went to Lyons. Took Sarn (?) home. I went to Allie. Annie finished Mrs. Burnetts sateen rapper. Annie & Charley got home 8 PM.

Annie washed. Charley went over to Lambs in the morning. I went along. Sate gave me 2 bu. crab apples. I made 2 qrts jelly & the rest put today. Allie Bridger called for Annie & they went to Ida Shepards to Mission tea. I did the plain ironing. Charley went to Phelps in afternoon. Leamon called. Has been a beautiful day.

Had quite shower this morn. I helped Annie cut carpet rags. In afternoon Charley and Clarence went to Lyons. Annie & I got the cows in the yard. I did the milking. The men got home 9 PM. Clarence got him new hat & pr. pants. My but how my stomach has hurt all day.

A MONTH SINCE I WAS VERY SICK. Had just gone to my room when Annie called me and said George wants to see you. I jumped right up when I hear someone loose the blinds to my window. A beautiful morning. After dinner Charley, Annie, George and I went to the woods. Maggie. Jack & the children came over little while. Mr. Albough, Mr. & Mrs. Pierce & children were here. C. A. G. & I gathered elderberries.

Mon, Sept 2, 1895

Annie washed. I canned pears and fixed some to dry. George Fulton & I went after Elderberries. Had Jolley good time. Got back to house 7 PM. Had tea. Took LITTLE WALK IN THE MOONLIGHT HE STOLE HE STOLE KISSES AND HOW OFTEN HE DID REMIND ME OF WESTELY & JASPER. Three yrs today Jennie, Mack, Bess & I went to Lincoln Park. I shall always recall this day with thoughts to deep for * to descr.

Hulled the elderberries & Annie canned. Alice Hornbeck & Eda Barick called. Mr. Geo Fulton come home with Charley. Took tea here. Gave me book of the fare program. A man stopped and Annie had spell. Has been quite ples. It is 9:10 PM and I go to my little bed. Received letter from Jennie. She is in Canada. Not very well. Poor girl. I am sorry.

Wed, Sept 4, 1895

Annie & I picked pickles. I sewed carpet rags. Sare & I went after elderberries. Leam & Bert got the drill. Annie & Charley went to Mary * funeral with Mr. & Mrs. Pierce. Mr. Lee, a book agent took dinner. I made sponge cake. AS I SIT HERE JOTING DOWN THIS DAYS ACCTS I do not forget TOW YRS TONIGHT NO NOR THREE YRS TODAY EITHER. Clarence went over to Wolvens to see Adie. I wrote to H. S.

Has been beautiful all day. Annie went over to Sate's in the morning for a ride and I went over there in afternoon for a ride. Mrs. Frank Bridger came over for little assystance on dress. Mrs. Stanchel sewed carpet rags. Annie & I picked pickles until quite late. Mr. & Mrs. Pierce & children, to young men from Bridgers were here in the eanning. I have been very lonesome.

Annie finished a waist & fixed my coldar in the ean. Charley, Annie, & I went to Phelps. Met Mr. Fulton and he treated us. My my how the wind did blow & the rain came down in torrents. Stopped at a Mr. Rogers. Had ples. time and an elegant ride. Got home 9 PM. It is now 9:20 and I go to my nice little bed. Mr. * and Leam called to look at colts. Little kittens up stairs.

Annie picked up things. Did some mending. I sewed carpet rags all day. Mrs. Bem Burnett & Miss Lizzie Busby came to have Annie fix a dress. Has been quite pleasant but had nice shower. Charley and Walter Albough got home 9 PM. Annie made * fun.

Tues, Sept 10, 1895

Has been quite pleasant today. Annie drafted out my waist & cut out the skirt. Mrs. Ben Burnett came to get Lizzie's dress measure. Milked the cow. The men went to Alloway to a roisen. It is not 9 PM and I go to my nice little bed. O yes, wrote to Mont & Jennie. Annie slept with me.

WAS AWAKENED BY GEORGE THIS AM. AND HE TOOK ME TO HIS HEART AH HOW STRANGE. Has been quite ples. Annie & I went to barn to see then the ash. Sate came over just at night. Adie Busby called. Gave Clarence some grapes. Canned my *. Annie slept with me.

I stayed with Sate. A & C went to L. The threshers got through threshing 9 AM, Annie picked pickles. Worked on my dress. I sewed carpet rags. Rained very little in morning. Sate was here this AM. The horse got his feet in the ladder. Annie had spen I BROKE TO WINDOW LIGHTS AS WE OR WE REACHED FOR THE WINDOW MY MY HOW HIS EYES DID SHINE AS HE LOOKED IN TO MINE.

Has been a beautiful day. Annie worked on my dress. In eanning told fortunes. I THINK I WILL RECALL THIS NIGHT TO MY DYING DAY-FOR IT SEEMES SO STRANGE THE WAY GEORGE TALK & TO ME AND HE SEEMES TO BEST IN EARNEST O DEAR HOW CAN I THINK HIM IN EARNEST YET I CANNOT SAY TNLY THISHEHAN TREAAED ME THE VERY NICEST ANY MAN COULD TREAT ME AND IM GLAD THIS NIGHT HE TOULED ME HIS LOVE.

Has been very cold all day. Annie & I went to cook up some peaches. Order some of West falls. Had an elegant time. Went to Oaks Cosnors and Dr. Mitchell's Station. Almost chilled through when got home. Have been quite anxious all day. Thinking, thinking, thinking but my thoughts I will not tell. I am happy.

Charley, Annie & I went over to Maggie's. Charley went to Alloway to see a horse shod. After dinner we went up in orchard. Came back. I gathered sweet peas for boquett. When we got home Bert & Mr. Fulton were here. My how did jump when I saw George lying on my bed and how they all did laugh. O MY DEAR. THIS NIGHT AS THE CLOCK STRUCK 12 I BURRIED THE PAST - NO WORDS CAN TELL WILL THIS NIGHT EVER be realised.

Has been quite ples. Annie worked on Lizzie Busbys dress. In afternoon we went to Phelps. Got letter from Bessie & Jennie. Had good laugh over the letter. Charley went over to Leams after Demiriant. I worked on Sate's skirts. These are pleasant days to me. I wrote Ida and Buel. Annie sewed while I wrote.

Tues, Sept 17, 1895

Mrs. Busby called. Rode as far as Mrs. Burnetts with Charley. Maggie, little Jen, Charley, Annie &I went to Lyons. They went to Arthur Teller's Auction north of Lyons. I sent the boys a letter. I stayed with Mrs. Stanchel while the rest went to aucton. Came home on different road than I had ever been. A lovely night. & I THOUGHT OF GEO. AN I

Have been quite busy all day. Annie went to Phelps with Charley. Mrs. Burnette & Lizzy Busby called. Has rained very hard. Mr. Rogers barn was struck by lightening. THIS HAS BEEN AN UNUSUALY EVENTEFUL DAY FOR ME. HEAR VERY GOOD OF GEORGE TO THINK SO KINDELY OF ME TO BRING THOSE LOVELY LARGE PEACHES CAN I THANK HIM AND O HE DESERVES I KNOW NOT WHAT.

Have been very busy all forenoon. Canning peaches. Has been a lovely day. Mrs. T**ll came to have Annie fix her dress. Charley went to Lyons. Had breakfast early this AM at 6 o'clock. Left for Watter 8 AM. Has been beautiful day. Met Millie, Rog, Annie, and Robert. Came home by the way of Dublin and Alloway. Got home 8:30. Annie got fast supper and at 9 PM was eating. The display of horses was very good. Had lots of fun fishing. I drew cuff buttons & toy watch. Has been quite ples.
