Records of baptisms at St. Mark's begin with the baptism of Caroline Amande Geise on May 20, 1863. Caroline was baptized by Rev. F. C. H. Lampe.  Although the church was founded in 1852, the records of earlier baptisms from 1852 to May 1863 are missing.

These records usually include the date of birth, parents names and sometimes the place of residence and names of sponsors.  The records are organized by date and by pastor who performed the baptism.

The records are handwritten, typically on paper that has become yellow or brown, and in some cases, is brittle and frayed.  Content is rarely lost due to damaged paper.  In some cases, the ink used to record the record has faded. In almost all cases, the faded content is readable at higher magnification.
