THE 'FOSDYCK' STORMS

Dear Raymond,
I was very interested in your letter. I have just returned from a visit to Bay, the first for many years, and I have described my impressions in two articles for the Yorkshire Post which may appear this week. In addition the BBC made a short film which will be transmitted in their Look North programme at a date following publication of the articles.
I remember your family well again and you will probably know that they are the Fosdycks of my Bay books. The only member I met during my visit was, I think, a brother of Geoffrey, whom I met in Fowey some years ago when the ship he commanded was loading China clay. We spent many hours together and I was deeply shocked to hear of his death.
I remember too your branch of the family. especially Rachel organist at the Chapel where I had a short spell as member of the choir. But I was always a bit scared of your grandfather. I envy you having all his records for he was supposed to know more of the history of Bay than anyone.
etc etc
With all good wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Leo
