Unmarried [1872]. Resided in Shepherdstown, Jefferson County WV. He read law under A Herr Smith, Esq. of Lancaster PA. Attended two courses of lectures at the law department of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where he graduated in the spring of 1865. He has held the position of State's Attorney in Jefferson County for two terms and was elected to the State Legislature as a member of the House of Delegates.
