General Notes: Jeremiah resided in Fulton township, Lancaster County PA and possessed a large tract of land, situated in the Conowingo valley. During a long life he was an active politician and held meny positions of "honor and trust". In 1838 it was decided by the people of Pennsylvania to call a convention to amend the Constitution of the State. Jeremiah Brown, along with several others, was elected by the citizens of Lancaster county to represent them in that convention. In 1840 he was elected to represent his district in Congress, and re-elected in 1842. In 1851 he was elected Associate Judge of the several courts of the county, and retained this position for five years. He was married three times after the decease of his first wife. Jeremiah married Ann KIRK, daughter of Roger KIRK and Rachel HUGHES. (Ann KIRK was born May 20, 1788 1 and died September 8, 1816 1.) |
