EMMA CAVALIER |
This page is on the Emma (St. Sure / Lindsfelt ?) Cavalier Line
Emma Anna Adelaide Victoria, born December 10, 1844 in America. In the 1850 US Census she was listed as Emma St. Sure, age 4, born in Wisconsin.
I believe that the name is Cavalier from my reading of Jeanette Andrews letter and from the note in the handwriting of my grandmother Beryl (Mrs. Robert E. St. Sure) - although it could be the handwriting of her sister Kathryn where it clearly says “Emma Cavalier“. (see link to image at right)
Jeannette St. Cyr Andrews writes that her name was Emma and writes her last name, which is hard to read, but appears to be either Cavalier / Coralier. Elsewhere I have seen it interpreted as Cavalier, and that she believes she was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Jeannette writes: “ I did send your husband and M___ [Mrs.?] C___ [Cavalier?] outlines of my findings some twenty years ago or so and _____ [haven’t?] found out ___ very little since.”

When Elise went back to Sweden with the girls, and eventually back again to the US. (only Josephine stayed be behind in Sweden and married there, then later came back to the US)
In 1850 she returned with her mother to Sweden, one of the four of the children who went back with her, and they lived during that year in Hasslöv. She was one of the three of those four children who returned with her mother to the United States thereafter, date unknown, but at least by the Federal Census of 1860 because it shows that the whole family was then living in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where Lindsfelt’s name is listed as St. S[ure] Lindsfelt.
I only searched the name St. Sure for the 1880 and 1920 Census, I need to go back and look for other last names.
