William Thomas Coombs was born in September 1828 (the day is unknown) in Husband Street, Soho , London.

When he met Clara Emma Auber, he was living in the East End of London, and when they married they were living down Grove Passage, Bethnal Green.

By 1858 they moved to St Pancras, London and lived at No 23 Colville Place where they gave birth to William Thomas Coombs Jnr in 1860

They bore 6 children, born between 1858 and 1877, two of which died in childhood.

At the time of the 1871 census they were living at No 8 Kirkman Place, Tottenham Court Road , just a street away from Colville Place, then by 1873 they had moved nearby to 110 Whitfield Street.

William was a litho printer all his working life.

He died of chronic bronchitis on 28 January 1885 at St Pancras Union Infirmary, the day after he was admitted, and just under a year after his wife died, which may have been of typhoid as in 1883 and 1884 a typhoid epidemic swept that area of London.
