In 2:1158, "John Flynt (Rich2 Rich1 Rich0 John-1) b. ca. 1690, made his will Sep. 14, 1747, describing himself as a resident of St. Mary's Chapel Parish in Lancaster Co., but his will was proved in Northumberland Co., Nov. 11, 1754, where evidently he had moved. m. Ruth (-)."
- Lewis, James F. & J. Motley Booker, Wills and Administrations, Northumberland County, Virginia, 1750-1770, 1964. On p. 38: "Flynt, John, of St. Marys White Chapell in the COunty of Lancaster, W.W. 14 September 1747, W.P. 11 Nov. 1754, Wife Ruth Flynt - negro man Cesar for her life to assist in bringing up and schooling my children, and at her death to be sold and the money equally divided among my children. I lend her my mulattoe boy Mark during her life and then to be equally divided among my children. Son John Flynt - a young beast fit for to ride when he shall arrive at the age of twenty years. Wife - all the rest of my worldly goods during her widowhood, and at the expiration thereof to be divided equally among my children. If my wife should be thirded, at her death one half to come back to my children and the other half to dispose of as she pleases. What I first gave to my sons may not be divided with the rest of my estate. Wife and John Rogers Jun executors. Witness: Anne Riveer and Gabriel Smithers"

On 2:1162, "John Flynt (John3 Rich2 Rich1 Rich0 Rich-1) b. after 1740, d. 1785/86; will dated Oct. 27, 1785, proved Feb. 13, 1786. m. (1) Chloe Williams, dau. of Moses Williams. m. (2) Sarah Hayes (Widow). She survived John."

On p. 112: "Flynt, John, of St. Stephens Parish, W.W. 27 October 1785, W.P. 13 February 1786, Wife Sarah Flint - to have my whole estate for four years after my decease to help to raise my small children, and at the end of four years, all my estate to be equally divided amongst all my children. Negro man Caleb, to belong to my daughter Elizabeth Popwell upon having the negro fellow valued, and paying all my children an equal part of him. Moses Taylor, executor. Witness: John Doxey, Elizabeth Davis, and Milley Hays."

Sons William Hayes, and Peter Hayes, executors. Witness: Judah Waddey and Benjamin Branham."

- Flint, Edward F. Jr. & Gwendolyn S. Flint, Flint Family History of the Adventuresome Seven, 1984. On 2:1156, "Richard Flynt, Gentleman (Rich1 Rich0 John-1) of St. Mary's White Chapel Parish, Lancaster Co., VA.; will dated Apr. 18, 1715, probated Jan. 11, 1721 ... On Nov. 29, 1652 Richard Flynt and William Wroughton obtained a patent for 200 acres on the Corotoman River in Lancaster (Fleet - Virginia Colonial Abstracts). Richard 'pd. £4 of tobacco as a tithable sum', collected by William Ball. In Richard's will he mentions his wife, Martha, and children; William Payne and William Dare as overseers; and bequeathed them 20 shillings to buy rings. Witnesses were Mr. Carpenter and Richard Haynes. He was called Richard Flynt, Gentleman in his will. m. Martha (-) (she may have been Martha Gershom, dau of John Gershom who owned 520 acres, Patent 5, May 5, 1652)."
