Documentation ♦
Daniel Goodwin (--c1625): m. Dorothy Barker
- Stackpole, Everett Schermerhorn, Old Kittery and Her Families, 1903. On p. 453: Daniel Goodwin of Kittery, who signed the submission of 1652, was probably the son of Daniel and Dorothy (Barker) Goodwin of Oxford, England. The will of Daniel of Oxford, proved 16 Feb. 1625, leaves his estate to his minor sons, Daniel and Stephen. Stephen settled in Charlestown, Mass. Daniel, Jr., married, (1) Margaret, dau. of Thomas and Patience (Chadbourne) Spencer; (2) after March 1670 Sarah, dau. of John Saunders and widow of Peter Turbet. He was one of the founders of the church at South Berwick in 1702. Was living in 1711 and died before 1713."
Daniel Goodwin (c1620-c1712): m. Margaret Spencer (c1632-c1672)
- Goodwin, John Samuel, The Goodwins of Kittery, York County, Maine, 1898. On p. iv: "I myself am inclined to the opinion that Daniel Goodwin of Kittery, Maine, was a brother of Richard Goodwin of Gloucester, Mass., and that they were sons of Bridget Goodwin, who afterwards married Henry Travers, and later still, Richard Window, and that her Goodwin husband was one of the Torrington, England, Goodwin family."; p. 9, "Daniel Goodwin was in Kittery, York Co., Maine, in 1652. He married, first, in Kittery, Margaret Spencer, daughter of Thomas and Patience (Chadbourne) Spencer; she was a daughter of William Chadbourne. Daniel married, second, after March 1670, Sarah Sanders, widow of Peter Turbet. Daniel died about 1712. He was a surveyor, an innkeeper and a large landed proprietor"
