Documentation ♦
John Pike (c1589-1654): m. Dorothy Day (c1592-1664)
- French, Elizabeth, "Genealogical Research in England", New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 50:244-261, 1912. "Pike Entries in the Parish Registers of Whiteparish, Wiltshire, 1559-1640, Baptisms, 1613 'John the sonn of John Pike was baptised the 8th of Novemb:' ... Marriages, 1612 'John Pike and Dorothy Day of Landford' 17 January [1612/13] ... The John Pike who married Dorothy Day at Whiteparish, 17 Jan. 1612/13, and had a son baptized there 8 Nov. 1613, was certainly the emigrant of that name who came to New England in 1635 and settled at Newbury, Mass. His other children were baptized probably at Landford, where the registers before 1671 are lost. The Pike wills in the P.C.C. and in the Sarum courts fail to show his parentage; perhaps he was from the adjoining county of Hants, for which there are wills at Winchester."
- Hoyt, David W., The Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury, Massachusetts, 1897-1916. In 1:285-286, 2:999, "John Pike came from Langford, Eng., in the ship 'James' to Newbury in 1635, but was per. first at Ipswich. He was of Salisbury when he died, May 26, 1654[S]; will May 24, Oct. 3, 1654."; "John Pike, of White Parish, Wilts, m. Jan. 17, 1612-3, Dorothy Day, of Landford, at White Parish, Wilts., Eng."
