Samuel and Ann McAdams, West Deer Township, PA

Samuel McAdams was born in Ireland about 1815. His wife, Ann, was born in Ireland about 1819. This may be the Samuel who was naturalized on 9 Oct 1845. In 1850, 35 year old Samuel McAdams is living in West Deer Township in Allegheny County with his wife, Ann, and his son James, born October 1849 in Pittsburgh.

James married Sarah Herron. Their marriage license is recorded in the the City of Pittsburgh Marriage License Docket, Volume 4, page 391.

James listed his occupation as farmer, his birthplace as Pittsburgh, his residence as West Deer Township and his age as 24 years.

Sarah Herron listed her birthplace as Pittsburgh, her residence as West Deer Township and her age as 19 years.

James and Sarah were married on June 9, 1874 at 810 Penn Avenue in a United Presbyterian ceremony.

James and Sarah had ten children:

Mary A. McAdams was born on March 5, 1876 in West Deer Twp., PA. On September 20, 1899 she married Peter George who was born in France on March 5, 1886 in France. Their Marriage License was recorded in the Allegheny County Marriage License Docket.
A son that was listed by the initial "J" who was born in Pennsylvania about 1878. It is very common for McAdams men to name their sons after themselves, so "J" may well have been James McAdams.
William James McAdams who was born on September 12, 1878 in Pittsburgh. William married Emma Williams [June 29, 1881 - 1949]. William and Emma's 1903 Marriage License was recorded in the Allegheny County Marriage License Docket. William died on February 28, 1927. According to his obituary, he was living on Elysian Ave. at the time. William and Emma were buried in Section 15 of Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
A daughter that was listed by the initials "M. E. was born about 1879.

By 1900, the oldest children had moved out, and James and Sarah were living in West Deer with six sons, all born in Pennsylvania:
Charlie, born in April, 1883 who married Ester Cornforth on June 20, 1907. Their Marriage License was recorded in the Allegheny County Marriage License Docket. Their children were Ira K. McAdams, born about 1912 and Elsie McAdams born about 1915.
Robert, born on July 13, 1886 who married Mary Love on November 25, 1910. Their Marriage License was recorded in the Allegheny County Marriage License Docket.
Harry McAdams, born in March, 1890
Howard McAdams, born in March, 1895 who married Marie Husken in 1917. Their Marriage License was recorded in the Allegheny County Marriage License Docket.
George McAdams, born in March 1897
Frank McAdams, born in April 1899 who may have been the Frank McAdam who died in October 1985 in Allison Park, Allegheny County, PA.
