John J. Hart and Mary Catherine "Kitty" Flannigan


John Joseph Hart was born in Ireland about 1872. His wife, Mary Catherine "Kitty" Flannigan and oldest daughter were also born in Ireland. John and Mary had seven children.

  1. John and Mary's oldest child was Mary, born in Cork, Ireland about 1903. Mary married Robert McClements. Mary died in 1975. Her obituary read:

    On Tues., Jan. 21, 1975, Mary Hart McClements; beloved wife of the late Robert McClements, sister of Margaret McAdams, Rita Kapp, Katherine, James, Eileen and John Hart; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from McCABE BROS., INC., FUNERAL HOME, 5300 PENN AVE., East End, on Fri., Jan. 24, at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine's Church at 10 a.m. Visitation with family 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

  2. John and Mary's second child was Margaret, "Peggy" born in Pittsburgh on October 6, 1911. Margaret married J. Howard "Howdy" McAdams, son of Thomas Joseph McAdams and Louise Wertz on September 10, 1934. The Sullivan page shows a picture of Peggy and Howdy's wedding. Howdy was a fireman for the City of Pittsburgh. Peggy and Howdy, had one son, James Michael "Jim" McAdams. Jim married Beverly Ann Likavic on September 3, 1966. Jim and Beverly's children are Howard 'Howdy' and Margaret 'Peggy' Hart McAdams
    Michael
    Sean, and
    Kim McAdams.

    Sean's daughter, Morgan Elizabeth, shown here was born on December 8, 1999 in Harrisburg hospital.

  3. John and Mary's third child was Kate, born in February 1914. Kate never married.

  4. John and Mary's fourth child was Jim, born in July 1915. Jim married Monica Nichols. Their son was David Hart.

  5. John and Mary's fifth child was Eileen "Pat" Hart, born on October 18, 1916. Pat never married. Sent to nursing school at Homeopathic Hospital in Pittsburgh, now called UPMC Shadyside. Pat died in 1995. Her obituary read:

CONROY FUNERAL HOME, 2944 Chartiers Ave., Sharaden, FRIDAY 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass in Holy Innocents Church Sat. 11:30 a.m. Mem. contributions can be made to Holy Innocents Church.

  6. John and Mary's sixth child was Jack, born in December 1917. Jack never married. He was a City Fireman at Engine House 28 on Filbert Street. Jack died in 1976 and was buried in Section Y of St. Mary's Cemetery, Lawrenceville.

  7. John and Mary's sixth child was Rita, born on February 17, 1918. Rita married Wallace E. Kapp. Rita and Wallace had three children; Wallace, Jr., John, and Kathryn. Rita died in 2000. Her obituary read:

Kapp of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Robert (Kathryn "Kitty") Furar of Butler; sister of Mrs. Margaret McAdams of Sheridan; grandmother of Nichola M. Furar; also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Friends received Sunday, January 9, 2000 from 7-9 p.m. at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 East North St., Butler PA 16001. Funeral at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Butler, PA on Monday, January 10, 2000 at 10 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

John Joseph Hart died in the flu epidemic of 1918. In 1920, Peg's widowed mother was living with her sister-in-law, Mary McCarty at 431 N. Rebecca Street. The family lived over a grocery store. Mary McCarty also owned the butcher shop accross the street. Kitty Flannagan Hart died on March 14, 1960 and was buried with her husband in Section Y of St. Mary's Cemetery, Lawrenceville.

Margaret Hart McAdams 1998Peggy died in 2010. Her obituary read:

Age 98, on Fri. March 19, 2010, of Sheraden. Wife of the late James Howard McAdams; mother of James M. McAdams; sister of the late Katherine, Eileen "Pat", Jim and John Hart, Mary McClements and Rita Kapp; three grandchildren, one great granddaughter. Friends received SUNDAY 3-7pm at WM. F. CONROY FUNERAL HOME, 2944 Chartiers Ave., Sheraden. Funeral Mass in Holy Innocents Church Monday 10am. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Innocents Church.
